Crow has decided that there are too many rogue vampires running around the city. These loose canons are directionless; either abandoned by their sires, or standing in opposition to all traditional vampiric codes and ideals. They break the secrecy codes, and are claimed to be a danger to all vampires.
On the Crownet bounty pages, Crow has begun releasing profiles and known information on these rogue vampires, who have seemingly been selected in part due to their past crimes against the secrecy laws, and highlighted due to their propensity for directionless idiocy, direct defiance, or insanity. All vampires on this list are loose canons, and all are without mentor or sire on-hand to guide them. There is an offered reward of $20,000 for each bounty on the list, as a reward for killing each of these vampires.
Or perhaps you will take one of these bounties, and instead of killing the rogue vampire, you will save them, or try to reform them? Perhaps death is not an answer, in your eyes? The choice is yours.
Rules and Directions
- Bounty hunters (or those looking to save rogues) need to "claim" a bounty by posting OOC in reply to a thread marked "[tCotR]". You will need to keep an on the roleplay planning board if you wish to claim one of these bounties, as it works partly on a first come, first served basis. Once you have claimed the bounty, you are free to start your thread on the Hardcore Ruleset board. I will post up between 3 and 8 [tCotR] rogue bounty threads on the RP planning board per week, until all 23-ish rogues have threads. If you miss out to begin with, keep checking back!
- ALL rogues are NPCs. Do not create accounts to roleplay as these rogues, unless you are fine with it not counting towards this competition.
- You can only claim 1 bounty per character!
- You can also only be in 1 of these threads per character, period.
- Multiple people can be invited to participate in the same bounty hunting thread if you wish. They can be invited in by either the sire OR the original claimant. Nobody else.
- The maximum number of player-characters allowed in each thread is 6.
- The sire of the rogue in question will always be allowed to join in a thread. They are most familiar with the rogue, and therefore would find it easiest to locate them. So even if a bounty on somebody has already been claimed, the sire can still join the thread.
- IF the sire of the rogue in question is participating in the thread, the writer of that character gets to describe the actions of the NPC. If the sire is not participating in the thread, the actions and voice of the rogue in question is for the first poster to control (if there is a team).
- Threads may start whenever you wish.
- These CAN be solo roleplay stories, if the sire doesn't join in with the thread.
- Humans cannot claim a bounty, but they can participate in a thread, if the original poster agrees. They may work with or against the vampire bounty hunter.
- The final outcome of each thread in this sidestory will be determined by either the IC consensus of the characters participating in the hunt, or by the last person standing. This means that if 1 character wants to spare the rogue, and the other character wants to kill it, and both characters are unable or unwilling to come to an agreement IC, then the two must fight in game. The loser must either submit to the will of the other character, or bow out of the thread.
- PVP fights started as a result of these threads can be determined either by gauntlet duels, live battles, the dice rolling system, or by skirmishes. They need not go on to the death, but can be decided when one player character submits defeat. Alternatively, of course, IC agreements can still be made mid-battle.
- Allies should NOT be called in to help you win these PVP battles. These battles should only be between the participants of the thread in question.
- Each thread must go on for at least 2 full pages of forum posts (in other words, you may finish the story once you reach page 3 at any time you want, or you can continue for as long as you wish.)
- Stories must be concluded before the end of October.
- You must PM me (Mooncalf) with the result of the thread once it is finished, if you wish for it to have an effect on the chapter.
Rewards and Chapter Effects
Completing any thread will do two things. Firstly, you'll have $20,000 in-game money which gets divided up between those who had a hand in the death of the rogue.
Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, each completed thread will swing the chapter's bounty issue one way or the other by a full 5%. Spare the vampire (actively work on helping them survive, get them to leave the city, or help them to reform), and you will cause the chapter's bounty issue to swing 5% "against" the bounty system as it currently stands. On the other hand, uphold the codes and kill the rogues, and you will cause the chapter's bounty issue to move 5% towards "for".
Each action on each thread will help to determine the outcome of the chapter and the future of the bounty system. Show Crow that there is a better way, and perhaps he or she will re-think the system? But uphold the bounty system with ferocity and tenacity and perhaps Crow will make the bounty system even stricter!
This is just one of many chances you will get to influence the outcome of the chapter. There will be more roleplay events, and there will be lots of in-game mechanics introduced within the next week or two. Though the chapter hasn't truly begun yet, this is a taste of how you will be able to influence the story once it does.
