Silver Gun Superman (Macrovamp)

The redhead crept across the length of various trailers and tents quietly, her steps barely touching on the ground as she glided across the grassiest section claimed by some of the workers. It was the middle of the day, the best time for Pru to do what she needed to do, without much interruptions because while people were around, they weren't really around. People would have to live the life to understand.

She had set up for a meeting, to retrain her body because Pru had made a suggestion in passing at DD and DD took it serious and was excited about it. It had been unexpected, but Prudence wasn't going to back down now. She had sent a text to one of the few people she still talked to from her life as a human. Still being every couple of months. Four tents more and a quick right and Prudence was right where she needed to be, right when she had to be.

She didn't move as she once had when living in this strange, makeshift family. Some were born to this fate, others chose to be part of this madness, she didn't care in the end. It just wasn't a place she could be after being sired for the obvious sun reasons. But when those sun reasons weren't reasons to stay away anymore, Pru still didn't return to this life. There were reasons for that, but she pretty much decided that she wouldn't come back because she had been replaced. Logically, she knew it would have to be for a few reasons, but, she had been replaced. Somehow it still tasted bitter in her mouth when the red head thought about it.

Prudence pulled back the opening to the large tent and let her eyes do their usual survielence of a place that was unknown. Only, it wasn't really unknown. Empty seats lined the performance areas. Wires and ropes hung from the top and sides of the tent. Random performance areas for performances with animals, or with stunts men and women, and finally an area for the ringmaster to give his speech about the nights festivities was spotted.

You still sleeping? Prudence sent a text to the guy she was waiting on. This wasn't her turf anymore and doing anything without anyone's permission ended up super bad for people who fucked with carnival people. When she didn't get an immediate response, Pru took that as a possible yes, but wasn't going to waste time. She set a small book bag down at her feet, grabbed a black material out of it and started hiking it up under her gothic skirt. Next, she lost the red tank top she was wearing to reveal something form fitting. Her choice for tonight was comfort and not performance, because she wasn't putting on any show for anyone. Next, the woman pulled out two leather soled slippers, black in color and kicked off her combat boots. Her hair was tied back in quick pony after her feet were covered with the leather slippers and finally, after believing she had everything, Prudence padded over to the area she was going to begin her retraining on. She only hoped her secret session, remained secret between her and her contact.

It had been a long night with the Romani family. They had lost another of their sisters in this city of Harper Rock. Donka, she was very close to Andrzej. They had traveled from the old country to Canada, hoping that the persecution would be different.

So far they had not been under the eyes of the powers that be in this city. But then again they had not been here very long.

They had spent all night and late into the early hours mourning the passing of another of their kind. So the mood and general attitude around the Carnival was very tense and sombre at the same time.

He woke up around midday, vaguely remembering he had an appointment in the tent for some practice with an old colleague. He took a big swig from the vodka stilled by Magda the fortune teller. Hair of the dog, always a good way to start off the day.

He went off from his wagon towards the high wire tent, the sun way too bright for the condition he was in right now.

He entered the tent from the performers entrance, took a little while to adjust from the bright sunny day, into the dark atmosphere of the performance tent.

Across the way on the far side of the tent he could barely make out the figure of the lithe female.

This was probably not going to be a very nice training session, he wasn't really nice at the best of times, but after last night it didn't help matters.

Prudence was getting impatient. What the **** was taking the guy so long? Prudence had **** to do and that **** was killing some things and training how she normally did. Not wanting to waste any time, the red head got on the ground and did her usual routine before doing any serious training. First, she sat on the ground, both feet out in front of her and leaned forward until her hands were touching both feet. She held the pose for a few seconds [15 to be exact], then grabbed a foot and brought it in towards her body, the heel of her foot pressing in to her inner thigh. Again, she stretched, this time towards the one foot only, then rotated it to do the same thing with the other foot.

One leg was then put over the other and Prudence stretched out her lower back as she twisted her seated body on the ground. She did this with the other leg until the woman brought her legs in towards her chest, slowly stood and stretched out her body by having her arms touch her toes while standing. Prudence would follow with a few arm stretches as well, then rolled her neck a little and bounced up and down three times to loosen her muscles. None of this was probably needed, given she was a vampire, but routines died hard.

Her head turned to the sound of a noise and Prudence threw a hand up in the air at the guy. "Hey." She walked towards the guy, her right hand extending out to him in greeting.

In a somewhat lack luster tone, he replied ' Grace.'

With a rather thick eastern European accent,' You look like you put on a lot of weight since last we met.'

He didn't wait for the punch or kick he knew was coming, this was the kind of friendship they had, based on trust and experience.

He threw the safety gear at her, not giving her time to react to the verbal banter.

'Let's see if you can still get up there, connect and get across without falling.'

It used to take her a couple of hours before she could get across with out the balancing pole.

His face was rather drained and blood shot from the lack of sleep from the previous nights activities.

He attached himself to the safety rope and waited for her to ascend the ladder to the top of the high wire.

The atmosphere in the tent was as sombre as Andrzej's mood.

He looked like the old stern teacher that he was at Grace.

Prudence paused when he first spoke. She hadn't been called that in the better part of two years. The red head swallowed and felt her hand drop before she nodded her head at him. "Hey," She said again.

Her eyes rolled at the comment he made about her weight, Prudence resisting the urge to smack the ever loving **** out of the man. She could do it too, now that she was a vampire. Before, her smacks or kicks would land without a wince from the man. His next words had Prudence snorting. "Of course I can get up there." Prudence said without any passing thought, this time a solid smack landing on his shoulder. "I am Grace, after all." Prudence bounded off towards the pole, thinking on her words and attitude. Grace no longer existed, and hadn't for a long time, but she was pretty sure that she could still do some of the things she used to do, especially since she did it for years and she was good at it. Besides, with a name like Grace, how could she not be fabulous? A snort came from her again, thinking about her parent's logic when they named her that; her mom once being the woman who worked the high wire.

Presentation. Half of the show was about that and so, she'd focus on that. When Prudence got to the bottom of the pole, she wrapped an arm around it and then threw a stiff arm in the air, as if saying, 'tada! Here I am!' Prudence let go of the metal pole, and grabbed at a smaller bar, the one that would lead her to the top where the wire was at. She climbed the ladder quickly, the red head still showing she had no fear and was still the same person Andrzej knew from two years ago. Once she was at the top, Prudence stopped and looked down at the man who looked like a mere speck. She stood on the small, square platform, looked to the one that was across from her and straightened her body out. Her neck went up a little, as both hands shot in the air. Her left foot went out first, Prudence turning to where the crowd viewers should be on the left, then did the same with her right. It might had appeared that she was stalling, but it was far from the truth. While everything seemed to be for show purposes, Prudence was also trying to remember where her centre of gravity was at, because she would need to know that in a few minutes. "Ya ready?" Prudence called down to him, a large smile on her face, even if he wouldn't see it.

Andrzej's head was in a daze, partly from the night before and the excessive amounts of alcohol consumed in the last 24 hours. He knew his comments would get a rise out of her. It was the type of friendship they had, playful banter and teasing. He saw the reaction and the hit coming, but was too tired and drunk to care.

He would feel it in a few days time for sure. She had definitely been practicing her hits apparently, because the smack to the shoulder, sent him back a few paces. If he had a full nights rest, then it would have been another matter.

She was quite nibble up the ladder to the top of the high wire, reminded him of Grace's mother, same flair and attitude for sure.

He took up the slack on the safety line, ready for her to get back into the walk across the high wire.

'You need to improve your ascent, little sloppy. You an amateur?' This was the usual banter for training, maybe he was getting soft, or it was the recent loss of another of their own.

'Take your time, we have all afternoon. Show me what you can still do!'

With that he waited for her to get back to her past form.

Was it just him or do she still look exactly like she did last time he saw her. That was a few years ago. Huh, weird. O well.

Prudence could barely hear him as he shouted things up at her. The things she could make out seemed like a jab at her in some way, to which she flipped him the bird as she presented herself on the platform. A simple bow, with a middle finger down to him, then the hand went back up in the air before she controlled her focus. If she let him get the best of her, she could fall and while Prudence might walk away from the fall, it would present a problem, obviously.

Once again she bent down and slipped the slippers off her feet. She hadn't been on a wire for years and she wasn't going to pretend she was the expert she once was. So, to be on the safe side of things, she would do what she needed to do to stay on the wire. Her slippers were tossed off the platform and hit the ground below before the woman stood and eased her way towards the wire. With arms out to her sides, Prudence walked barefoot on the wire, so that the wire could be grasped between the her big and the second toe. It was how she was taught from her mother around the age of five or so.

With each step, the woman swayed left or right as she got her bearings. Her progression would be slow, but she would not fall. It was not an option. Falling meant she failed and Prudence wasn't about to fail. She inched her way forward, stopping every few seconds to balance herself out as she veered left or right. The climb across must have taken her almost half an hour, but she finally made it and with a large smirk and triumphant grin, Prudence finished her routine with another hand in the air, feet crossed and some dips at the imaginary crowd. Then her eyes fell to Andrzej as if to say, "Now what?"

Andrzej could barely make out the rude gestures made by Grace at himself, through the darkness of the tent and his drunken haze. He could tell that she was way out of practice though, she was tottering from side to side like a newbie to the wire.

"Watch your pretty little head, I wouldn't want to have to sweep up the mess you will make if you fall!"

This was how he always trained the people on the wire, constant harassment. After all, you needed to be tough to deal with the crowds and comments that came from down below. Usually it would be the quiet din of the crowd in awe and silence. But there was some nights where the crowds were very boisterous and hostile.

This generally depended on where they had set up their carnival, some towns were receptive than others.

"You haven't even gone 10 feet, what's the holdup? You need some encouragement?"

She knew damn well she wouldn't get any from him.

This was a very good distraction from the previous nights affairs and getting back to routine so to speak.

A few clowns had entered the tent on the other side to practice a few routines for the next nights show.

Most of the carnies knew not to disturb Andrzej, especially when they had just had a sombre affair in their family.

He let go of the safety rope and headed over to the clowns.

"Get the hell out of here ya damn clowns!! Can't you see we are doing some real work here." He headed straight for them to throw them physically out of the main tent.

Clowns?

Prudence felt her eyes roll as they made their scene in the tent. Sure, everyone had work to do, but didn't they see their work was more difficult and needed to be more focused than those silly fucks? Prudence tried her best to ignore them, as she had been trying to do with Andrzej for the better part of half an hour. Of course she knew she was out of practice, why the **** did he think she was here?

Prudence resisted the urge to threaten all of them with some means of physical violence, knowing that wouldn't solve anything and would more than likely get her time here, finished. She had to train for DD's thing that she was doing, so that she could show her that she could dance and be bad *** at that too. Once her mind was focused on something, even if it was something that could be seen as silly, Prudence focused on being the very ******* best at it. She'd do the whole twirling, smiling and being graceful like a boss! DD would see and she would hire Pru and they'd get to know each other better. Because Mordie wasn't part of the dance routine thing that Mortll was doing and finally she could get Nova to herself.

Oblivious that Andrzej had walked away, and let go of the safety cables, Prudence went for round two. She would do as many rounds as it took tonight, until she felt accomplished. Until she noticed some progress. One foot in front of the other, her big toe and the other still wrapped around the wire (because she was still working on angling her feet correctly, to find her center), arms at her side, Prudence started back out on the wire again. No comments were made, because actions spoke louder than words and she was going to show Andrzej that he didn't know what the **** he was talking about and that she was the ******* best still.

She had made it about half way, before the woman's attention was thrown off, by the sound of a honk from one of those clowns. Prudence's body wavered to the right, then veered to the left sharply, in an attempt to keep her balance and not plummet a "few" feet to the ground. She smiled triumphantly when the task had been managed and this time, to get across only took her about fifteen minutes. But, in an attempt to keep from falling, her big toe had cut into the wire as it clutched on to it for dear life. She groaned, rolled her eyes and decided that she would need to bandage it up and maybe call it quits, until the thing was healed. She decided to just bandage it up. She wasn't quitting tonight.

The red head made her descent from the high wire, climbing down the pole's ladder, one step at a time. She had only made it down four rungs before she lost her balance, for whatever ******* reason. Maybe it was the clowns, or maybe she had miscalculated her footing. Prudence went tumbling down, back first to the ground beneath her and hit it hard. So hard, the woman blacked out at impact.

Andrzej had made it a few steps to the clowns before they realised their mistake. They knew better than to get on his bad side, after all the clowns usually ended up laid up for a few days otherwise.

The clowns were hastily trying to make their retreat from the tent with the big man Andrzej at their heels. He managed to grab one of the slower ones by the scruff of his neck.

This unfortunate clown ended up flying out of the big tent flaps head first into the rest of his clown comrades.

They were all cursing him and high tailing it out of there, the best that they could.

"Don't come into the big tent when I have someone on the wire, you guys remember what happened to Sorin last time. We don't need anymore accidents to explain to the authorities."

He grumbled as he made his way back to the base of the wire, where he had left the safety cable, hopefully she hadn't decided to keep training without him there. She was prone to stupid mistakes like that, last time she did that she was in bed for a month, with a few fractured ribs and broken bones.

He looked up at the wire, couldn't quite make out if she was still up there. Make if I get closer I can see better from another angle.

His head was in a lot of pain right now, he needed more of the vodka, too bad he left it back in his caravan.
He wondered if this training was ever going to end, Grace was a pain in his arse when she wanted to be. But overall she was a good kid. She and her family went way back. IF he didn't look after her, her mother and his would come back from the grave and kick his arse!!

All of a sudden when he was just about to get to the safety wires, he tripped and fell over a large object.
In his current alcoholic state, he went arse over tit onto the ground, swearing as he went.

He looked up to the top of the tent from his vantage point on his back, catching his breathe then got back onto his feet.

Once he had regained his feet, he noticed the prone body of Grace on the ground. He got down onto his knees next to her, checking her breathe to make sure she was still breathing.

No breathe was coming from her pale lips. He checked her pulse, no heart beat.

'**** **** ****, what am I going to do!!!' He thought to himself, rushing for what he should do next.

Let's see if I can remember how to do that CPR stuff Alex was always saying we needed to know and remember.

He preceded to fill he lungs with air and do chest compressions........
