The end of a Mortal

Ava Lee couldn't concentrate on anything today. It seemed like almost everything had gone horribly wrong. Her parents were arguing and despite having moved away, it was like she couldn't escape their tendencies to drag her into the middle of domestic affairs. Her job sucked and once again, she was reminded of how much she loathed mankind. If anything were to go right it would be spending some time with the only beauty in her life. Her less than charming boyfriend. Normally less than charming was an insult. To Ava, it was the best trait in the world. Her insecurity made her appreciate that she didn't have to pretend to be perfect in front of him. Ava grabbed her bag and took off walking from her workplace. Her phone connected her to a world of music as she lost herself to a playlist of Anberlin. As she dreamed of Prince-non-Charming she closed her eyes and anticipated arriving at his place for some quality time. The sun was going down and Ava found it hard to see, but she was only a a few blocks from her destination. Her love would be so surprised to see her this late. To hear the news that she was ready to move in with him, yes, he'd be ecstatic. Imagining the smile on his face lit up her world. Except she was seeing real lights.
The pain was instant, the impact so great that her body was tossed and rolled to the side.
The pain was unbearable all over her body and she tried to ease her mind away from it all. Anything to end the excruciating pain. Ava subconsciously imagined, or perhaps it was really real, an out of body experience. All the pain she'd ever known began to lift away...
she looked down and saw a pile on the alleyway just diagonal from a car who's driver was frantic. It almost seemed as if an animal were unfortunate enough to meet a car. Except, at a closer look, the animal was a person. And that person was Ava. The man who had hit her was inspecting his car, searching for the body of a girl under his car, around and on top of it. It seemed like she had disappeared. He was half crying and half screaming. He couldn't see through the darkness to realize that Ava's body had been flung far. What Ava perceived to be her spiritual self gazed over to the body and was shocked by the distortion. A figure was in the darkness beside her but Ava couldn't make a face out. She was more focused on her own mangled body. Ava looked like she were just sprawled out asleep.. except for the blood running from the indention of her eyes and mouth, and the awkward angle at which she was bent from the side. It was fairly obvious that her spine had been completely broken somewhere even to her waist.
The figure was reaching an arm out. Was she checking for a pulse? The image that Ava was seeing was fading in the corners of her vision. The street seemed to be getting darker and soon all she could see was the vague shapes of the cloaked figure, and herself. The figure leaned in close to Ava's face and held that position for a while with some occasional arm movement. Why the man hadn't found her body, Ava wasn't sure. The loss of all other vision was scaring her and if she could feel her heart beating it would have definitely have been pounding. Slowly, even the image of this figure was fading and Ava found her last thought being somewhat related to the reason she was even on this street. Now the next time he sees her, she'll be in a casket.

It had been a long day for Asia. She has started her day working at Grosseto's to keep things in order while John was dead. Making sure that everything was running smoothly and the staff were well cared for before heading to the mall to work at her own store. Smiling as she walked into Epic Emo, she noticed that there was only one employee at the counter. Furrowing her brow as she walked up to the desk and was informed that the others had called out sick. With a light sigh Asia nodded her head and let the employee head home, she would be taking care of the store for the rest of the evening.
It was a weekday which Asia was more than grateful for as that meant she was guaranteed a slow night. This gave her the opportunity to assist customers as well as going over the paperwork for the next days shipment. It was a fairly large shipment as they were getting ready to change over to their spring line. New music, T-shirt-, cute little goth skirts and mesh tights and a whole lot more. It was going to be great!
Asia was pleased at how much she was able to accomplish on her own in the six hours that she was left alone in the store. Even had time to straighten the racks and refold the shirts before closing so that her morning staff wouldn't have much to do outside of the truck. Locking up the doors and shutting off the lights, Asia prepared to do her nightly deposits. Finally she was starting to make money which was nice and gave her something more to work for, for the coming year. Maybe she would have her new store open before Christmas to try and double her profits but she moved one day at a time. She was blessed and there was nothing that Tytonidae could do to rob that of her, no matter how many times they tried to kill her family and always succeeded in killing her husband. Shaking the thoughts from her head as she placed the deposit in her purse to drop off at the near by bank.
The spring air was soothing with the hint of blooming flowers and freshly cut grass lingering in the air. It was lovely and much better than the snow that had blanketed their world all winter long. It was beautiful when it was freshly fallen but then it would get gross and sludgey from all of the cars and trucks. It was a way of life, constantly changing...some for the worst and some for the better. Dropping the bag into the deposit box at the bank, she waved at the crowd that always lingered and chatted before making her way home but she made her way to the West Penthouse instead. It was better to stay with family when you were in the time of need and Asia needed that with John gone.
Turning the corner as she decided to walk home instead of taking the transit, she was pulled from her thoughts of her husband when a car hit something. Stopping in her tracks, she used her powers to conceal herself in the shadows and watched the scene play out. The words of the man that now panicked and looked for who or what he had hit. He was screaming about a girl to which told Asia that he indeed had hit a person.
Instantly the military field nurse side of her kicked in and her eyes scanned the area. Not seeing anyone in the general area, she looked out further in case the woman had been tossed a great distance away that most would miss her. There by the alley, laid a lifeless form. Quickly Asia ran to the woman, kneeling down next to her. Rushing over, she checked for a pulse. It was faint but still there. Quickly she checked over the woman's injuries and noticed that she was far worse and wouldn't make it to the hospital. This was not good and wasn't settling well with her. Looking around and smiled as she noticed they were alone, she concentrated her energies and healed the woman. Checking her again, she had healed some but there was bleeding that she couldn't stop.
Carefully picking the woman up, she rushed to her home at Grosetto's. Yes, that was back tracking but she wanted to be alone with the woman. Once home above Grosetto's, she laid her down in the bed. Watching her carefully and listening to her heart rate and noticed it was fading. Throwing another few heals on her before she was suddenly unable to help. All she was doing wasn't working and there was only two options...let her die or let her die so that she could live. With a frown on her lips as she paced the room, looking at the woman as she thought over the options. Asia had never been the one to kill anyone...attacked yes but only when needed but never killed. No...she needed to save her. Rushing to the woman's side, she whispered lightly 'I'm so sorry' in her ear before she bit into her neck to pull the blood out of her. When she was drained, she ripped open her wrist and placed it to the womans mouth to let the blood flow down her throat. After some time, she pulled her wrist back and waited.

The empty void she felt was incomparable to anything more than an lucid dream. She could recall herself being hit, seeing herself, but she couldn't remember much else.
Am I dead?
She found that the voice in her head was echoing as if she were stranded in an empty parking lot. The longer she reflected on this the less empty it began to seem. There was someone else there with her and it was getting brighter and brighter until she could no longer stand the light. There was noise in her head, similar to a static and the muttering of a station in the radio that is just barely in range.
There was something about the way the whole environment felt that was scaring her. She felt the fear but could feel none of the reactions. No racing pulse, no quickening breath. It was like she was an entirely different entity on her own. The thought of this sent a jolt of ice through her, though as far as she could tell, it didn't affect her.
Awareness was still slowly creeping into her mind and now she could feel that she was laying down. A flat but soft surface lay under her. It killed her to feel like she was trapped in an eternal sleep but relief washed over her the more she could feel her own body... until she felt the itch in her throat. She needed something to drink and she needed to wake up! It was an ache, like a burn now, that couldn't be ended. She felt the fire rise in her, spreading from the thirst and reaching into her stomach. She needed something to quench this thirst from hell! It felt like lava coursing through her veins after hours of the torture and suddenly she felt herself shoot upward.
Gasping as if she hadn't had a breath in years, she realized that she felt no need to breath again afterward. Her vision was blurring and she could hardly tell she was in a room, or that anyone was with her. How long had she been asleep? or dead? Nothing was certain anymore but someone had to be there, because she could feel them. She could hear their presence and as she realized that it wasn't her imagination she also realized that her sleeping inner self wasn't the only one who felt terrified of what was happening.

The minutes had begun to tick by as she waited to see if the woman would survive. She had serious injuries and there was no honest way of telling. She just had to sit it out to see what happens. Slipping back from the bed as she licked her wound closed on her wrist, she began to pace. She wasn't sure if she should call her husband or even her sire to let them know what she had done.
Turning she looked at the woman that laid in her bed. She looked calm and peaceful as if death had already taken her but listening closely, she could hear the faint heart beat. She needed something to do, she needed to keep herself distracted or Asia would only worry more that she had messed up something that should be so simple for her kind. It made her think of her brother, Ambrose that she had turned. Him vanishing in the night without a word. She wondered if this life had been too much for him. She should have given him a choice but now...she had done it again. Turning someone without their permission and yet...the circumstances were different. This woman would have died. Why not let her die but give her the option of living out her life even in death. It was possible as it was for everyone else of her kind.
Looking back at the woman, she smiled. There was no way that she could be wrong with this. Watching her for a moment as she heard the heart beat slow. Soon...soon she would have an answer. A smile drifted across Asia's lips as she would know very shortly if she had killed the woman or killed her so she could live. It was frustrating and exciting all at the same time but she was a patient woman. Nodding her head lightly as she turned on her heel and left the woman alone but only for a sort moment.
Quickly, she let her feet carry her away from their home and through Grosseto's. Asia needed to hit up the shop that was just up the street. Blood...she needed blood and lots of it. Walking into the store there were a few patrons, some she knew and others a complete mystery but she waited...waited until they all had left. Nodding her head to the clerk once they were alone.
"Asia...is everything okay. You typically don't wait to be alone."
"I am...I just didn't want others to hear me. Human and all. Thank you for asking, Bill."
"I understand...no worries. What can I get for you today?"
"Blood...lots of it."
"Are you hurt?"
"No, I am helping out a friend. Do you have any in stock?"
"Absolutely, just got a fresh shipment in. How many?"
"Ten...I think that should be enough."
"Oh wow...hurt that bad."
"Yes..."
"I got you covered. I have your card on file, I will just charge you later."
"Thank you, Bill. It's greatly appreciated."
He moved to the back to gather what she had asked for. Placing each blood pack in a concealed bag to hide them from sight. He was quick about it in case any other patrons came into the shop. She had always been nice to him so he wanted to take care of her the best way he could. Once all ten of the packs of blood were wrapped and concealed, he moved to the front of the store and placed them in a plastic bag and handed them to her. Smiling lightly, Asia took the bag and tipped him for his service before she quickly left.
Stepping out of the building, she wrapped herself in shadows to keep from others seeing her and questioning her actions. She was acting a little off but it wasn't everyday that someone turned someone that typically swore they wouldn't. No...she did what she had said she wouldn't do outside of the exception of her brother but the woman has severally hurt and already dying. Asia's instincts had gotten the better of her and her need to try and save the woman took a front seat to any concerns or promises that she had ever made.
Once she was back at Grosseto's, she noticed a few humans lingering so thought it was best to stay in the shadows until she was up in her residence. Closing the door behind her quietly as to not draw attention and have rumors of ghosts start to travel, she let the shadows drift away from her. A soft sigh escaped Asia, as she walked into the bedroom and sat down in the chair near the bed and set the blood down next to her. The heart beat had stopped and she waited.
A few more minutes has passed when suddenly Asia's attention was caught when the sound of gasping filled the air. Her eyes shot up to the woman as she watched. Her eyes slowly opened and a smile moved across her lips. She hadn't killed her, killed her. That was a huge plus. Carefully, she moved to the bed and sat on the edge. Taking her hand into hers, she squeezed lightly to reassure her that she was not alone.
"It's okay. I promise..."

IAvanniah tried to focused on what was happening around her and found that she felt an immense comfort from whoever it was touching her hand. There was a buzzing in her head, like voices? She could barely notice any of it over the burning that coated her throat.
She reached out for the mysterious woman who seemed to be the only source of artificial warmth in, what Avanniah had noted, was a now unbeating heart.

When Avanniah reached out for her, that was a blessing as Asia knew that it would honestly be alright. First thing was first once the woman was able to focus a bit more to her new life was to get some blood in her as Asia remembered the burning thrist upon her turning when Leir had done so nearly two years prior. She wrapped her arm around her and held her close.
"You were in a really bad car accident but you are going to be alright. In fact you are going to be perfect. How do you feel?"
She moved the hair out of the woman's face so that she could see her better now there was no need to just rush around to prepare for the turning. She smiled at her as she actually was rather stunning and couldn't wait for her to meet her husband and the family. Asia was fully planning on getting around to all of that but she wanted to ease the woman into it as to not overwhelm her. She wanted to help her as much as she could though in the back of her mind, she wondered what path the fates had gifted her childe . All in do time but right now her focus and care was on the woman and her well being.
"Is there anything that I can get you?"

There was a soft touch on her as the woman reached a nurturing arm around her. She welcomed the comfort, thankful that she was alive and not alone. Her body, however seemed to react differently and before she could complete a thought, she seemed to have almost disappeared and reappeared on the other side of the room.
Did I do that? What was that? What am I
Ava trembled as she stared at herself and then looked back at the woman who only wanted to aid her. Her throat was on fire, it felt like everything inside her was on edge.
Fear. That was what raced through her mind the most right now. Fear of what she was, where she was... and then she looked again at the woman. She'd only been trying to help Ava, and then this. Upset, Ava bit her lip as an instinctive reaction to stress. The sharp piercing startled her and she cried out, feeling the pain slide away as she opened her mouth to yelp.
Ava's hands flew to her mouth, feeling for the intruder to her flesh. Fangs? The terror pumped through her as if it were her blood. Blood. That's what she wanted. The thought of it sent chills down her as if someone had offered her a snow-cone on a hot day. As the puzzle pieced together, she seemed to snap.
"WHAT THE **** AM I!?" She hadn't meant to scream, and the force of her words was just enough to transition to crying. She couldn't even tell if she had tears. Could she even make tears? She knew what she had to be, she'd read enough books to know she was a vampire.. a monster.
As she cried, she felt herself curl into a ball, shutting out the world. All of the world, except for the existence of blood.

As the woman dashed across the room, Asia sat there a moment to give her the space that she needed. All she wanted to do was help her but the realization had to come on her own or she would just be in denial as if she was in some horrible dream. Her eyes watched the woman as if she was on display at a museum. Each turning was different and it amazed her. She forced her brother and he accepted it even though he had ran off to do his own thing, leaving her to be alone once again. She had her husband, but she wanted to build their little family though Asia knew that she would only turn those that were near death with the exception of Ambrose. Her brother didn't get a choice and he was in great health when she found him.
The fear in the woman's eyes began to pull at her heart strings as it made her realize that maybe she should have explained to her what was going on instead of letting her figure it out. This siring thing was complicated and yet she still gave it a try instead of leaving the woman to die in the streets. It was the medic side of her that couldn't walk away without helping her.
The piercing screams, filled her home as she now began to panic. Yep, this was one where she should have given more of an explaination. Grabbing the bag that held all of the blood in it, she rushed over to the sobbing woman. Her safety was important and she wanted to make sure that she was okay but the fear took over and that was all that the woman could focus on right now.
"As I said...you were in a really bad car accident. A really really bad car accident. You were near death and I wanted to save you. You are a vampire. This may seem really scary since...well...before tonight they were a myth. Though what I need you to do right now is feed. You need to take care of your thirst so you can focus. I have packs of blood for you. Please try...please be okay..."
