User Threads Impact Records

This thread will be used to record all user roleplay actions (forum or chat) which have impacted on the story or the game, somehow. The threads listed here were created by players, not by mods.

The Concept Explained
  • An "impact thread" is a thread that could very well change something in game without you ever having to do anything on the grid. This could be actions that raise/lower the alert level, chapter-related events, etc. The sky is the limit, as long as the post was made within the past month.

Submitting a Roleplay Thread
  • All you have to do is submit any thread which you feel should have an impact on something small in-game, to Mooncalf and PoeticPuppy.

    Please include the following information.
    • Thread: (Thread URL)
      Participants: (List all those involved)
      Synopsis: (Summary of events)
Quality of Roleplay
  • The most likely threads to be considered as game-changing are those that would realistically change something in the story, of course. However, a bunch of one liners posted up in ten minutes is not going to have a huge effect. There needs to be a show of effort. Also, the longer the thread, and the more people involved, the more likely the thread will be taken into consideration. Excellent threads with lots of people posting in it will change more than a short thread with only two writers. So, write lots, write well, and write with lots of different people. Submit as many threads as you like at once.
Battles and Opposition
  • There doesn't need to be any grid-based actions to back up your roleplay; as long as the roleplay follows the Path canon, it qualifies. However, if you choose to partake in a roleplay battle, the participants should decide the victor via the grid. Don't be afraid to allow the other people into the thread and get their side of the story (you will even get bonuses for allowing opposing characters). Please follow RP etiquette: once defeated, bow out of the RP.
Additional Restrictions
  • Only someone from the thread should be sending it in.
  • You do not need permission from the other roleplayers in the thread to attempt something which might impact on the game in some way.
  • Only descriptive roleplay will be taken into consideration (not Crownet roleplay). This can either be in public or private areas, though you will likely have a greater effect if you roleplay in public.

Path of the Vampire is focused on roleplay. Roleplay well, roleplay inventively, and yes you can change the game, even outside of chapters.

[*]Owen's journal where he gave up a bunch of identities to the police.
Impact: Although the police probably would have thought the guy was crazy, they now have vampire photographs on record. City alert has increased by 1%, and the identities of those given to the police will have +5 notoriety points.

(Please note, if the player of Owen does not want this to have any impact on the game, it's within their right to tell me so and I'll reverse the changes.)

Phoenix wrote:Thread: Oops - that wasn't meant to happen

Participants: Robert Pratt, Hannah [Enver], Jeff

Synopsis:
Robert Pratt summoned spirits, which was witnessed by Hannah, Enver's human thrall. Despite being a thrall, Hannah is unaware of the existence of vampires. Hannah then witnessed Pratt walk across the river.

Jeff, a human in the area, witnessed Pratt trying to feed. When Pratt stumbled upon a hunter, Jeff saw him get shot, bleed unnaturally and then kill the woman who wounded him with unnatural strength (crushed her skull). Hannah came by after the human had been killed and witnesses the wound and black blood on Pratt. Hannah was then fed on, with Jeff still watching.

Impact:
+ 5 notoriety for Robert Pratt
+ Alert level increase (by 1%)

Phoenix wrote:Thread: Love me, I'm playing on the radio

Participants: Robert Pratt, Lizzie Llewellyn [mainly] + various reactions

Synopsis:
After teaching one of his Defense Against Vampires classes (wherein he teaches humans how to spot and fight off vampires after proving to the doubters that they are indeed real), Robert and Lizzie decide to broadcast a public awareness message on the radio.

Using computer dictation software and telekinesis, the message consisted of a warning that vampires exist, drawing upon every day occurrences during encounters with vampires. Robert and Lizzie blamed the Fifth Column in their broadcast, but speculation abounded. Some groups chose to believe it was Fifth Column responsible, while others blamed various other suspects on both CrowNet/Fact or Fiction - no group was ever definitively blamed.

Impact
+ 4% alert level
+ $5000 bounty on Robert Pratt and Lizzie Llewellyn (Crow took notice of this one)

Thread: So, a zombie and some humans;

Participants: Enver, Madison, Alexandrea, Anemoi

Synopsis:
Enver crashes his car into the gate of the Quarantine Zone. While people gather around the scene of the accident, Enver and the other gathered vampires proceed to speak and act quite recklessly in regards to the existence of vampires. Meanwhile, zombies gather near the fence and one reaches through, grabs and bites a nearby woman while a few others slip through the cracks. Chaos ensues as most humans flee the immediate area, save for Anemoi, who has been convinced vampires exist.

After the group dispatches the escaped zombies, Madison kills the bitten woman in view of a group that gathered a safe distance from the struggling. Enver manages to set himself on fire in an attempt to take care of the body. Alexandrea proceeded to toss Madison and Enver over the fence and into the QZ before jumping in herself.

All and all, it was a blatant display of unnaturalness strength and behavior, witnessed by dozens of humans and the police.
Impact:
+ 1% increase city alert
+ 15 notoriety to Enver, Madison and Alexandrea

Thread: The Biggest Bang Harper Rock Has Ever Seen

Participants:
Gambat, Serenity, Serendipity, Kira, Marisa, Asia Rae, Anemoi
Synopsis:
Gambat, after securing some explosives, blew up the vehicle of the humans he’d attained the explosives from, and then proceeded to place explosives on the QZ walls. He changed his mind afterwards, and made his way to the Mausoleum, scaring a human woman in transit when she saw that he was carrying a gun, alerting local authorities.

He successfully placed and detonated the explosives in the mausoleum and the catacombs, causing ancient zombies and mooncalves to flee into the open. Serenity, seeing what happened, called in reinforcements to help. Kira, using her allurist powers and the fact that she is a look a like for a pop star, charmed and used misdirection to get the surrounding humans to look the other way, making them think her back up dancers had gotten out of hand while shooting her latest music video. Serenity as well used her powers to cloak the area in shadow, lowering the security of the area and aiding in keeping human prying eyes away from the chaos.

Two paladins were also on scene, one finding the destruction on her own and making her way into the catacombs in an attempt to protect the nearby humans from what lay inside, and the other called in by Kira to bring more aid to their cause.

impact:
Although this was a cool thread with lots of writers, and had two sides working against one another, the QZ would have been quickly patched up by the army, who are on the scene 24/7. As for the undead which escaped from the Catacombs, it's unlikely it would have done as much damage to vampire secrecy as public zombie and fadebeast summonings. Moreover, the general public is aware of the existence of zombies, and though they think they are simply infected humans, seeing more zombies isn't going to destroy vampiric secrecy entirely. With these things in mind...

+ Number of cops on city streets has increased due to what they perceived to be acts of terrorism. Cops are now slightly more likely to shoot suspects on sight, as they are nervous.
+ No change in the city alert level, as my impact thread helpers have advised me that Kira and Serenity's countermeasures were pretty good.

From a roleplay point of view, there are also now many more soldiers around the city in general, but especially around the QZ.

Thread: Here comes your voice on the radio...

Participants: Elizabeth Pratt, Robert Pratt, PsychoCliff, various others for reactions

Synopsis:Lizzie and Robert hijack Cliff's radio station and send out a broadcast from the SR. During their broadcast, they oust several vampires, however a number of the descriptions given were very general, some even inaccurate. After the broadcast went out, Lizzie printed out copies of vampire composites on police computers.
Impact: Those listening to the broadcasts mostly either already believed in vampires, or didn't believe in vampires and won't believe in them just because another radio broadcast went out. As such, the main group of NPC humans the thread really affected was those who already see vampires as a threat. This group of vampire-aware humans now have some descriptions of vampires, and will be on the lookout for those people (though this will not be reflected on grid).

The police in Harper Rock are more irritated by the hacking and changes to their database than they are concerned (or indeed believing in) these reports of vampires attacking people. In roleplay, all police databases will be henceforth unhackable except for individuals with 20 hacking skill points (not yet attainable). The police will also be conducting an extensive investigation and inquiry into these hacks, which could lead them to computers or servers used to relay the information. This could perhaps lead to false arrests of innocent humans.

However, some few police do believe in vampires at this point, and though those police number too few to change any individual's "notoriety" rating, from a roleplay story point of view, there might now be some detectives hell-bent on finding the described individual vampires.

Grid changes are as follows:
+ 4% city alert.
+ Increased chance of NPC hunter strikes on those with high bounties.
+ NPC hunters (paladins and foot soldiers) now have a chance of auto-attacking any individual they come across in the sewers. Due to this, both enemies now give slightly more experience points.
+ Increased police presence, as humans are starting to attack those mistaken for vampires (based on some of the less accurate descriptions).
+ The bounties on those responsible have already worn off, as they have remained dead for over a month already, and bounties do not appear on those who are dead.
+ Those responsible have had the event entered into their memory logs to reflect the fact that it was a major memory.

The shot heard 'round the city

Mordechai calls Prudence to assist him in the pursuit of implicating Spenser and the Hebigumo corporation in what appears to be an assassination attempt on Bancroft's campaign manager during a rally held outside city hall. Both Mordechai and Prudence use alter ego to take on the identity of an employee of the corporation; Prudence a woman who is a secretary, while Mordechai takes on the appearance of a low level peon (for lack of better words) the night of, allowing themselves to be recorded on many cameras in their new faces the night of the "assassination attempt."

The night before, Mordechai goes to the company as said peon and runs into a guard that he enthralled briefly to pick up shell casings from the ground one evening (Mordechai is wearing gloves during this process btw, which had been kept in a plastic bag before setting them down). The shell casings are put back in the bag by the guard, and put away to be used the next night as evidence against the Hebigumo corporation. Mordechai releases the thrall from his "hold" with the suggestion that he hadn't seen anyone in a while, and wished his co-worker would come back so he could go get some coffee.

The night of the night the rally goes down, the two use Alpha towers as their location point. Mordechai makes them wear a ghillie suit as they wait for the opportune time, then takes the shot. Bancroft's manager isn't killed, though it appears someone wanted to, they just messed up the shot, by hitting him in the gut, followed by shooting out the legs of Bancroft's security personnel.

Prudence then celerities to the wilderness near Cherrydale as Mordechai plants the shell casings, along with Spenser's campaign flyer underneath one of the casings. She summons him to her, they discard their ghillie suits and along with the Arctic Warfare Magnum sporting a sound suppressor, (he breaks down once there), are buried deep underground in the woods, thanks to the killer ability Tunnel. They retake their regular appearances, and head into Grey's saloon (allowing cameras to pick up their regular appearances once again) where they'll play darts for the rest of the night; the whole getting to the other side of town, taking off their suits and burying their gear taking less than ten minutes, which would make it seem theoretically impossible for anyone to do.
Impact:
* -15% to Spencer's campaign slider.
* Police investigating the Hebigumo Foundation, due to the suspects being employed by them.
