At least her instincts were correct, he had to admit enough to recognize. If Katalina’s fervor had lead to engage further into the frantic melee than her unfortunate demise soon afterwards would serve little purpose but to provide a cover for his escape. As it was, taking out the few nearest combatants close to them in their way and optioning for the better part of valor would keep them both intact and animated tonight after all. Still, who did she think he was: David Bowie or something like that?

His mouth had almost opened up to ask her that question but he closed it again before speaking it out loud.

“Head for the sewers.” Is what he said instead. “Once there stay put and wait for me; it’s easy enough to get lost in a switch back and then turned around down there.”

Having spoken this to her he bends down slightly to lift Katalina up off of the ground and twists his body into a discus throwers arc while simultaneously using all his strength to propel her upwards and through the air by a quick movement of the hand and arm to the South East. He had used the distant steeple as a guidepost to launch her towards, but was unable to discern in telling exactly where/how she landed while his immediate attentions turned back now to the closer proximity in danger now lay.

A satisfied smirk landed on her lips, but it was short lived as more gunshots rang out. Maybe Ripper was right to pull her out of the cross-hares, but to take them all on himself? Before she could protest, he had a hold on her and the sensation of wind tugged at her body. The ground came up fast but she twisted midair and landed feet first, letting her hands come down to take the other half of the fall. Her head turned to look back, only for a split second. She had traveled farther than she though possible. Granted she was past the gate by several yards and the horde of the mob. Ripper had his work cut out for him. A close crunch of snow and Katalina's sight was once again focused on her escape. With no hesitation, she bound up and her untamed nails were like claws on the human's face making him leap back and thrust the torch forward, which was easily tossed aside. Bringing her gun up, she slammed him in the side of the head with all her her might. There was a sickening crack and the smell of blood rose. Pulling the butt of the gun from the man's skull, she took off like a bullet out towards the street. With difficulty, she called again to the shadows to cloak her, if only for a few seconds.

She had indeed vanished long enough to haul *** around a building, and cling tightly to the wall. She resisted the urge to take a breath. In fact, she had gone ridged. Blending into the concrete, she didn't so much as blink for several long minutes. She was sure someone would have tried to follow her, but no sound came. Slowly, she edged out from her hiding place and took pace inward, towards the small urban town. No doubt this place was connected to River Rock, but she hadn't planned on staying here long enough to map it out. Pity. It was a quiet night. Then she realized why as her internal clock chimed 4:00. The Sun would be up in less than an hour. She spat a curse. The thought of climbing into a sewer wasn't pleasant but neither was the idea of what would happen to her if she didn't. Following her nose, it took time that she could not afford and a couple wrong turns, but she eventually found the closest manhole cover. Her chest going still, she lifted the hundred pound grate and peered down into the gloom questioning whether Ripper would really find her or even bother looking. With one final look around, Katalina hopped down the rabbit-hole and slid the disk back over her.

I say there miss! You must beg my awkward pardons; but I'm just not very accustomed with young ladies falling out of the sky all the time. Are you a vampire then I take it or some sort of witch who has lost hold of their broom?"

It was odd to see a human dressed in tweed strolling through an underground passage at nearly the crack of dawn, but at least his trouser tips were tucked into a pair of sensible galoshes which kept their hems dry.

There was no questioning it. She wouldn't even dare to make it appear like she had to breath. The stench down here wasn't worth it. Plus, he was in a tunnel with her. She had to remind herself that he was not the threat. His heart-beat quickened by her appearance seemed to tell her that much, yet he stayed for the most part, composed. "What's it to you?" She asked in a tone that wouldn't be considered hostile, but it wasn't exactly a warm handshake. Given that she just ran from a gang of humans, encountering another one was unsettling. What was a human doing down here dressed like that? Her eyes narrowed accusingly. It may have appeared to him as her trying to see, but she could do that just fine. The world down here was grey and she couldn't help but wonder where his flashlight was.

“That’s easily enough answered, Young Miss. My name is Rupert G. Styles...either Esquire or the II of that name; this part is uncustomarily unclear to me at this point...And so-”

*his brows furrowed somewhat worriedly behind his World War One style gas mask before the man suddenly started to becoming translucent and fading away as ghost fading away caught in a transporter beam.*

“Oh bother! I’m being called away elsewhere. How very---”

If that sentence was finished it was not a word of now to be heard in (otherwise)
abruptly deserted stench of earth she found herself inside.

A lone discarded Mag-lite left the only tangible presence behind of the apparition ever being any more than mere hallucination...

Her gaze flicked to his face at the name though, she quickly found it was useless. There was no reading any expression with that outdated mask covering any true reveal of who he was. Suddenly, he was vanishing. And I'm the Witch? Of course, she didn't say that. Then again, she didn't say anything until he was gone and heard the sound of a metallic light hit the slab. The battery must have been already running low for it fizzled out on it's decent. It was only then that Katalina budged, taking a few steps forward into the dark. There was no clue to how long she'd be here and this place was...to be honest, she had never pictured once in her life to ever be down in a cut off sewer system. Trees, dirt, and guts was one thing. ****, piss and sludge was a whole new ballpark, and definitely not one she wanted to sleep in. What she wanted didn't really matter though. The light was starting to filter though holes in the grate, and a sluggishness started to drag her down. It was like she had steel coursing through her veins; the powers she had used that night, and her young body taking it's toll. She made her way in deeper. There was no way she'd be caught sleeping like the dead by a human mole and wake up to being boiled alive. She came to a crossroads. There was one way left, one right, and straight ahead. Irritation and the war to stay lucid was not a good combination. If she traveled in any direction, Ripper would have a conniption fit for making him have to find her, or at least that was the more amusing way to think of it. But, She had not found a dead end or a wall to put her back to. Then again, if she couldn't wake up on her own, would it matter? Unable to fight off the inevitable, Katalina crunched herself tightly to the left side wall, out of the stream of filth, and hoped she would remain unnoticed as her vision went dark.

The vampire’s finger was already splayed and outstretched in indication of direction like the chalky white index of death before the windswept human had even fully finished rematerializing.

“Go, grovel, be helpless (like you are).” was the unspoken judgement that passed by needlessly unsaid between Master and his thrall. Ripper didn’t invoke glee like some in dominating the humans psychologically, but this was a clearcut demand which could not unheeded even if danger had been involved.

The aftermath of the scene which lay behind him showed at least two of the vampire clan members beating a full retreat away from several battered military officers who were then regrouping and seeing to the wounded or dieing among their numbers. It was impossible to any just estimation of how many vampires had fallen on the other side--seeing as he was unaware of their full assemblage or how many even had dropped their assemble of mortal coil behind in smoke and ashes here on the asphalt this night?

The human would play his part and indeed was able to fall into it with a gusto that left very little method to character acting. The oddly dressed human had at least sense enough to discard his old, antiquated relic before approaching a squadron who was on a hair trigger point.

“I say, now it’s excellent your here!” the Englishman effulved with some enthusiasm. “Haven’t you seen it’s just awful! Pure bloody hell like it always is around here...I can’t help but grow faint with just the thought of it lately. Somewhere in all the caterwauling the medic’s arm had been found at least one had radioed in with HQ to report their situation and the highly predictable scripted responsive was to proceed to enact procedure echo-echo-charlie (which was to secure and non-combatants or civilians and bug out ASAP)

So occupied was the military in executing their predetermined task the Killer scarcely even needed the use of his innate abilities to slink unseen through the shadows to re-enter in through an open window which he scouted through from before across the floor and down the stairway to where the captive seemed to still lay bound and reclined where they had left him--but who knew if it was a ruse, feint, or psychic illusion anyhow.

“Alright, Guv. Listen up now; so you’re going to get just this one little chance from me and the very first porky pie which slips through those lips and it out bobs the tongue to take home with a bacon and then blimey all hope is 100-the-**** percent defenestrated.. ”

*pauses to swat at the bound creature using a flat side of his long serrated blade*

“Not a worry though guvner! You’ll not make brown bread after; although you’d be burning for the roast of it for a very long time to come now.

Having taken all that into consideration…”

*the corded bonds fall away and Ripper resheates his blade back into concealment*

“Tell me everything and all that you know about concerning our female guest we had over here earlier.”
