I know that dependent on the path, a PC vampire will either 'smoke out' or 'corpse out' type deal (amongst others), but what about NPCs? How can one write getting body parts (fangs, ears, blood, bones) if some are dusting out Buffy Slayer style? And if they don't dust out, who cleans up the gunk? D'Artois faction take care of it? Military? Contracted out to private company? Or is it a stinky place where you might get your shoe caught in some goo round any given corner?
[ Tagging onto that for curiosity's sake -- can one extract DNA from those body parts? If they have the right equipment to do so, I mean. ]
It probably smells really bad. Mooncalves are corpses, so are feral vampires and zombies, so none of them turn to dust. The military doesn't clean them up, though the area is quarantined off, so the general populace wouldn't be going in to snoop around anyway. It's separated enough from the rest of the city that I doubt anyone outside of the QZ could pick up on the smell all that easily though.
I can't say one way or the other whether or not D'Artois clean up the streets - though if there were PC groups that wanted to take on that role, I think it would offer something unique to the RP, but that's not something I'd be dipping my fingers into as a storyteller.
As far as DNA goes: Yes, DNA could be extracted from the corpses, but all it would really tell anyone is that they're human and dead. Without a spirit inhabiting a zombie's body it's just a corpse.

How does this work exactly? Is it conscientious?

In roleplay - does this override Mortal Aura / Healthy Complexion that vampires might have?
Yes and no. A paladin, over time, develops a low grade feeling of repulsion around the undead, however that can be augmented by observational skills. It's kind of both.
I would say yes to Salience overriding Mortal Aura and Healthy Complexion.

Can a person in Meaner Things RP using most powers?
I know someone had questioned about using Mindspeak before (and that most people do RP that), but the only answer I could find was
this one.
If it makes a difference, I'm specifically looking at Technokensis, Read Memories and Appraisal. Oh and any of the tracking powers.

Yes, a person using meaner things can use other powers at the same time. The vampire retains all of their mental faculties. Writers are actually encouraged to combine powers so long as it's believable and not overpowered.

David told me to post this all here so either he or Josh could answer.
blood thieves get powers if they have the power to do so from the vampire they feed off of. Is it possible to get (this is the question btw)/borrow rp powers that are not bloodline powers for the duration that you get the vampire's powers that you bit? Maybe their curses too (again in terms of rp). I said no, but this has bothered me for a couple days and so finally decided to ask you if I was right in saying no, not possible.
Mooncalf wrote:Hmmm yeah it is a good question.
I can't think of any reason why you couldn't also borrow RP curses and traits. If anything, they'd likely be the power-like traits, such as levitation perhaps, but I'm going to say it's writer's choice as to whether or not you'd also inherit curses etc. They might happen intermittently, and I'd guess that the curses and traits that are very much tied to the spirit nature of vampires might not work the same (because you'd still be human).
...........
that's cool a.f. can I share this in the cannon q and a section with my question?
so power-like powers would be, possibly (
yes or
no Answer in response to the ones I've listed, please)
Black Hole
Blood memories
Dark Angel
Deepest Desires
Dragon's breath
Dream walking
Eagle sight
edict memory
Enhanced empathy
Eyes of the beast
Glitter
Hunter's vision
Image Telepathy
Levitate
Lions Jaw
Machinesis
Memory Telepathy
Mystic Illumination
Pied Piper
plant necromancy
Projected Rage
Could poison bite be one? I'm thinking say a bt bites another vampire before stealing those vampires powers...the bite would/could make them sick if the vampire has weakness to toxins?
Pulse of Death
Selective Amnesia
Soothsayer
Supernatural Hypnotist
Answer whenever!

These would obviously fade in the same timeframe the powers on grid do.
Black Hole
No - My tentative answer until David weighs in. Seems a little too close to the spirit side of things.
Blood memories
Yes
Dark Angel
No - I don't believe blood thieves have access to shifter powers do they?
Deepest Desires
Yes - But to account for the telepath requirement, the blood thief has to have telpath powers at the time.
Dragon's breath
Yes, though I imagine that would wreak havoc on living human lungs LOL
Dream walking
Yes - But to account for the telepath requirement, the blood thief has to have telpath powers at the time.
Eagle sight
Yes
edict memory
Yes
Enhanced empathy
Yes
Eyes of the beast
Yes
Glitter
Yes - But the blood thief has to have Allurist or Telepath powers.
Hunter's vision
Yes
Image Telepathy
Yes - Requires telepathy still
Levitate
Yes
Lions Jaw
Yes
Machinesis
Yes
Memory Telepathy
Yes - Requires mindspeak still
Mystic Illumination
Yes - requires mystic powers to use
Pied Piper
Yes
plant necromancy
I'm going to go with no unless they also have necromancer powers just because this one is on the spirit-y side, but if a blood thief can get necromancer powers, it makes sense they'd get some access to plant necromancy.
Projected Rage
Yes - users must have allurist powers
Poison Bite
Yes though it would not kill a vampire even with weakness to toxins. They would just be sick for a long time (Writer's choice how long).
Pulse of Death
No - too spirit oriented I think
Selective Amnesia
Yes
Soothsayer
Yes
Supernatural Hypnotist
Yes, though the character would need some history in hypnotism or mental manipulation to really get use out of this power.

I'm not going to quote since I'm mobile and that's a cow.
Re: Blood thieves getting bridge powers - it's possible only for double BTs as that's their special power.
I was just having this conversation with someone else the other day...I'd be curious about the Additional Animal Form power that's tied the the Meaner Things power. Just the one extra version (sorry no idea what it's really called).
ETA - How about Master`s Gaze?

Yeah, if a BT can get Meaner Things, I don't see why they couldn't also get the additional animal form power, if the vampire they got Meaner Things from has that RP power.
ETA - How about Master`s Gaze?
I don't see why not.

I have a question regarding the use of appraisal 2 with my advanced telepath. Can it be used on a vampire and reveal the same results of information if the target has amnesia to the extent they have no knowledge of their name or identity other than they are vampire? I am assuming that Iris will not be able to read Lancaster's memories as they are completely blank?

Keeping in mind he has the selective amnesia power and a part of himself is deliberately blocking all memories.
