I regret in hindsight tossing in mine outside Esli. I feel I have a responsibility to tell my characters story when creating them. Start to finish. Especially when they are in a much larger story such as the one David is writing. In his story they are actors and each are influencing how the next chapter goes by their actions. All of ours are. We have power as the creators and writers that even, once set in motion, David cannot entirely control. We are all valuable contributors.

I love Path to the point I came from elsewhere and never looked back or went elsewhere. I would write with no rpp option and yes grid is last on my list even if I grind mine to support their abilities, actions in my writing.

I am concerned about this moving too fast grid wise without the story written out supporting what happens by those involved. We are going to miss out on the active actors who shape what is to come, create history. We need the hackers to tell us what they found and how, their reactions, what they did with it, who acted next and most importantly to all involved...WHY? Why did those attacking one side or the other enter the building? What fueled them, motivated them to take risk, to compromise the state of what was in place or influencing the things around them. I love reading about each character and seeing them represented.

Again, I regret I jumped in as I did and it is in hindsight. I just see this as a huge moment in the story of Path and want to get all the good stuff out of it as a reader and fan. Every character is my interest as they shape what happens next. Two lines or insane long posts. Just my two cents.

Much like the master said. I've had enver in there from the get go. Planned on writing him, but waiting to hear if I can post two characters in a thread or not.
Today I work. Then I have another much needed ob appt. By the time I get home, the slider will have gone from 49 percent to roughly seventy, if not more. So I guess no one will know why he's in there at this rate. Because .2 won't do a single thing.

I think this is my key concern here as well.

I would much rather see writing happen while the chapter is ongoing, as opposed to after the fact. I think it's very clear that a majority of active players are against the cure.

I would personally be fine with the NPC slider output being lowered, because I'm really enjoying seeing people getting into the writing for this chapter, and I wouldn't want that stifled or shut down due to the chapter pacing.

That being said, it makes sense tactically for characters working against the cure to move as quickly as possible (to avoid attacks by the militia). And I can see how people who have contributed to the negative score on the slider might feel stiffed if mechanics radically changed.

From a purely hypothetical standpoint: How would people feel about chapters being 100% RP driven, with a system similar to the one used by the current chapter?

I personally like the staggered rollout approach mentioned previously, but that sadly won't work for this chapter unless the slider is locked at its current place for a couple of weeks for the RP to 'catch up' so to speak.

I think ultimately David has a tough choice to make, and in either case, someone is probably going to be unhappy.

So I wish him good luck with that >.< Poor guy. LOL

I agree that Role Play should play apart. And In hindsight, opening it up.. Like it happened, there were some flaws. Main Flaw - Role Play was basically ignored and shoves to the side.

However, there is a proverb: ‘you don't change horses mid-stream’, meaning “you do not make major changes to a situation or course of action that is already underway.” Why? Because it typically makes things worse.

During this event I have seen several players that I have not seen in ages, return to play the grid. So obviously this is a fun event from the grid side. Players, that have been absent, are back, invigorated and playing.

My suggestion, let this play out on grid..

Meanwhile,

David codes a second event - RP heavy in order to move the story on.

Basically, the Humans set a trap (the current event), they leaked the info about a cure, because the Humans needs to see how many vampires they were up against..THey knew they vampires would attack. They weren't wrong. NOW the humans have an idea of their enemies strengths.

This time..No grid action, until all pieces of the puzzle are fitted together RP wise.

For a month or so, new clues are slowly found via hacking. (Hacking should count toward this event)

The only way for the hacking info to get out, is via Role Play. Players have a month to set up their plans via rp.. I expect the Grid to be harder this next time.. When the last clue is eventually found.

That’s my suggestion.. To keep the play on go as it is.. But salvage it for RP.

That sounds great in theory, but your idea depends on many factors. People posting to share info, religiously. Or doing solo rp work. Honestly, the chapter so far has been a let down. Rp hasn't impacted anything, nor hacking as promised. Which is why I've pretty much halted the chapter save for gids. He's due for a few hits in return.

Yes.

The slider has gone from 16.48 to 22 percent

I know it seems like I'm complaining, BUT, what I'm complaining about is the chapter ending by this week at this rate. I mean once it hits 100 percent...it's like game over, right?

><
Yes it will be over at that point.

Due to a bug overnight, regular NPC vampires were going missing from the Longslade complex. This has meant that newer characters have been unable to influence the chapter for a while. As such, we're bumping the chapter slider 5% in the "for" direction, to make up for this bug. But yeah it's still going to be ending very quickly haha. Get your roleplaying done fast.

Doc wrote:Personally.. I think this shows people like the grid just as much at RP..

What is wrong with a Shock and Awe type approach? It makes total sense that the Vampire community would go in ready to kick some ***.

Slowing it down is just frustrating.
It's legitimate. It's very sad for roleplayers, but it's on me for not anticipating that people would show up in force to go against the cure. But yeah, shock and awe is legitimate, it's within the rules, and the speed at which the chapter ends will also be taken into consideration in regards to the consequences.

I mean I get 1 percent a kill, over 500ish rpp. Guess I know what I'll do.
It's not 1 percent per kill. You have to kill 12.5 lionellis or supersoldiers to get 1%.

Doc wrote: Maybe chapters need to rolled out in sections. Rp set up.. for a few weeks.. then the Grid roll out. Make it like a scavenger hunt for clues that can only be found by hacking.. information only gets to players by rping.. then after a designated period of time.. Grid opens up when a vital clue is found during a hack.
I think next time we need to make it so that the chapter cannot end early, to give people a chance to RP. The ending point of the slider on the end of the 2 months would be the decider, rather than it ending early. It's very hard to balance these chapters in a way that's fair not only to all parties on opposite sides, but also to roleplayers and to grid players.

But yeah I do like this idea.
