It’s bad timing but then Dillon’s kinda the king of that. I hear the slap and feel his hand on my butt.
“Sorry. Couldn’t resist.”
He chuckles and release my grip on Nate.
“I’d throw my drink in your face if that wasn’t a complete waste of alcohol.”
“Oh drink, good idea.”
Dillon snatches my drink from my hand and downs it as I glare at him.
“Did ya miss the part where I said my drink?”
He steps closer.
"There’s still some on my lips if you wanna take back what you can.”
“Urgh.”
I push him away with one hand and roll my eyes.
“You wish.”
I turn back to the others. I have to go, but leaving Beverly worries me.
“Sorry guys. Looks like I’m wanted elsewhere. Bev, if you wanna come with me and the guys you can?”
I wait for her answer and then leave.

"Beverly." She echoed the name warmly, looking as harmless as she could. Which wasn't very difficult. The white haired girl was barely scrapping 5 feet tall and if she was lucky, weighed in at around 90 lbs. Petite, fragile and delicate. She could no more harm a fly than she could another living being. And in Dhara's world, Vampires were living beings. Beverly, Skylar, Aliyah and all of the other vampires she called friends were completely safe from her. She did, however, look back at Nate with a tilt of her head as if to say 'Well? Shall we?' The last thing she wanted was to make the new (and possibly young) vampire uncomfortable.

Wendigo wrote:The smell of spilled beer almost overpowered the stench of humans and vampires mixed together in this dangerous corral. Sheep and wolves pretending to be sheep... some so well they had forgotten what they were.
His attention drifted from conversation to conversation... nothing interesting so far. Social interactions seldom were.
He didn't mean to, but he loomed at the empty table: it was no wonder he sat alone. Even wearing an alert and expressive human face, it was impossible to entirely conceal his Killer-self. The cheap furniture was not fooled, and it strained under his weight.
The illusion had other drawbacks as well: his fingers drifted absently over the open flame of the centerpiece: an unusually human behavior for him. Wearing these guises, sometimes he too was guilty of forgetting his nature.
The chill of the arena crept up on her as soon as she entered. She had never been fond of these places as a child... they always smelled of dampness and sweat, which had not been diminished as she grew older.
She had stopped at home very briefly to change from her other outfit, as it would not have been appropriate here. Now, wearing slacks and a blouse under her cream coat, she felt much more her self. She wandered around the arena halls after receiving her entrance bracelet and took note of the different population here as compared to the Gothic Ball. It was no lie that the quieter event suited her, even if it was filled with humans.
A twitching at the nape of her neck caught her attention and she turned, seeking the source. She found him, alone at a table, and looking about as uncomfortable as she generally felt out in the open. Her childe. Her only childe. Making her way over, she stood slightly outside of his range of motion and cleared her throat. "Hello... Wendell. I had not expected to see you out tonight."

Beverly paused at the calling of her name. She listened closely to Aliyahs words as her eyes flicked between the humans. They didnt look like the ones that attacked her, but still a slight shudder passed through her. She nodded to Skylar, but chose to stay in the open where she could run if she had to. Cautiously she stretched out a hand. "Nice to meet you

Wendigo looked to his sire. She still called him by the human name, a sign of how far apart they now were. It was seldom that they interacted these days: her exploits in Tytonidae seldom gave her time for anything else... least of all, it seemed, him. Disappointingly, there were only chance meetings between them these days.
The thought was an odd one: even when the human had been holding the reins, he seldom cared for anyone's attention. That he noticed anyone's absence was unusual, and doubly so since the vampire had fully asserted itself. The sire-childe relationship was a strange thing. He wondered if Day took any special note of his comings and goings. Probably not.
"Ariadne..." he growled quietly, lowering the illusion slightly. "Didn't think this your scene." He looked out over the crowd. "Two hours... zero value. Expect your time wasted here."

The hand was held out and met with a dainty, warm, but gentle grasp. As she had learned over the many nights with Ali, she tamped down her usually bubbly and enthusiastic energy. Even though she wasn't as explosive as Skylar, Dhara had a wild energy about her that usually radiated from her every pore. But Beverly was nervous and Dhara could read it as easily as she could read Ali's emotions. She wasn't going to push any thing, move to fast or generally display the erratic behaviors she was known for. Ali had calmed her wildness to a degree. At least enough that she could reign it in around others.
"Now that," She inclined her head at the water bottle the other woman held,
"Is a drink more to my liking." She smiled and released the woman's hand, shifting slightly to give her more space.

Nate had faded in to the background as the women continued their discussion, his cheeks growing more crimson with every comment Skylar made but unlike the friends he was used to in high school, everyone in the little group seemed nice. A bit crude, but nice. He extended his hand to Beverly, "It's nice to meet you too," and then looked to Dhara, "I'd love some water. It's so hot in here." It was definitely warm but the sweat pouring off of him was due more to his embarassment and nervousness, but both were dwindling, albeit slowly.

"Thank you." She thought to herself as the bracelet was snapped around her wrist. It clashed a bit with her normal fare that she wore as the norm but it served a purpose she supposed. Zodiac had heard from others what the set up was like here, and even if it was an affair mainly for the living, she had to stop in and see it at least.
Her eyes lit up at the general environment they had made for this gathering. Smoke and fire and ice. Wicked! She began to make a slow circle of the arena, passing out business cards and smiling as she paused occasionally to snap pictures with her phone. "This is pretty." She would not hang here as she had been doing at the other party. She only wanted to see it.

Skylar was whisked away in no time and so she found herself with the two humans, and a worried vampire. It didn't bother so much, but she did feel the need to put Beverly at ease. Especially two of the most harmless humans she could possibly come across. But, Dhara was taking it in stride, though, and doing it calmly. It made Aliyah proud.
Nate had gone pretty quiet, but he spoke up for some water with Dhara and after a quick glance around, she smiled at her younger brother. "This is going to sound overbearing, but, pleade stay close to Dhara, kid," she suggested with a smile smile, the other vampires in the room worrying her. Dhara knew enough about vampires to stay out of their way. Nate? Not so much.

She gave Ali a smile that said "Don't worry, I've got this." And then linked her arm around Nates with another warm grin. "Water it is. Then we can walk around a bit while Skylar and her band get ready." She looked up at Nate to see if he was on board with the plan. Her eyes moved to Beverly once more and her ever present smile lingered, trying to be reassuring. She knew that some vampires were nervous around humans, and after what had happened to Ali, she could easily see why. "Ready?" She asked Nate, giving a small wave to the other two women.
