She canted her head as she listened to him and nodded, North Dakota was okay. Not her personal favorite. A little to flat for her liking. But she could see the appeal, she supposed. You don't have to worry about Ali. I haven't done any sort of travelling since I got here. Well, not quite, I mean I did go to Italy for a bit, but certainly not like I used to."
She let her eyes roam to the door like his did, watching the people come and go. She enjoyed a companionably silence with him, simply people watching and listening to the sound of people and conversations. She shifted slightly on the stool so she could rest her elbow on the bar top, one tiny foot swinging back and forth since she was a little to short to reach the rungs of the stool, and way to short to reach the floor. Her water was almost empty but she didn't really mind. After several long minutes, she finally spoke again. "Honestly, I think my favorite place is Tokyo. I haven't been there in a very long time though. And, in fact, I've been here for nearly a year. Which is surprising as I never stay any where that long."

His gaze lowered once she followed his, the glass still full in front of him. He scrunched his nose and pulled it close to him, smelling the blood as it burned through his nostrils and down his throat, causing his gums to ache. When was the last time he fed? He couldn't remember, probably a few weeks or so. The hunger was unbearable but he had his control down perfectly. Who knows though how long it would be like this.
Once she spoke his attention drew back to reality to listen to her speak, his grey eyes moving to her lips as her words formed, back to her eyes. "Italy or Ireland would be my favorite countries to go. I've been to Italy quite a few times, Ireland is getting up there." He blew out a sigh. He did miss traveling a lot, exploring places, but also how involved he was in the family business. But the thought that he would soon have to drop it, knowing the family would question his appearance once he got older. The thought downed on him, causing his shoulders to stiffen. Maybe the excuse of plastic surgery would flow? He just chuckled quietly and shook his head to himself. Time to talk to get off the subject in his head.
"I recently took Aliyah to Australia. She's not fond on how money comes easily in my family, or to me, but I knew she needed time away from here. We both quite enjoyed the time together." His lips lifted at the corner, a hint of a smile, that was all.

She watched him for a moment, she liked Ireland as well, but personally preferred warm to hot climates. When he mentioned Australia, she looked a little homesick at the thought. "I haven't been home in years. Australia I mean." The simple explanation also gave away part of her mingled accent. The other part was German, though most people just gave her strange looks for the blended accent and didn't ask. After another swallow of water, she set the empty glass down and looked over at him.
"Where in Australia did you go? And what did you think of it?"

He lifted his eyes with a tilt of his head. "You're from Australia as well?" He seems to be running into many of Australian's lately, or they just run into him. He spun the glass around and around, letting the liquid get room temperature warm. What a waste of blood, now it made him feel more guilty than he was when it was poured and handed to him. He let out a low groan and lifted it to his lips. Well, he needed to feed sometime soon, with Aliyah else where, too busy for him to feed, he needed to do it somehow. He chugged down the blood so he didn't taste most of it. Even as a vampire the taste made him shudder. When he emptied the contents he set down the glass with a quiet sigh, closing his eyes so it didn't come back up.
After a few minutes from silence between them after her question, he finally gave an answer. "Broadbeach, Queensisland. It was beautiful, Aliyah certainly enjoyed herself. I bought her a surf board, told me she use to surf." He pressed his lips together and pushed the glass away, looking at the woman who sat beside him, studying her quietly. "She never told me what part of Australia she was from, so sadly, I could not bring her home home."

She knew where Ali was from. They were from the same place. But she kept that tidbit to herself, just listening to him talk about their trip. "Yes, I am. Well sort of. I was born in Germany and spent part of my life there. Then we moved to Australia." A pause as she processed the rest of what he said. "Broadbeach is beautiful. I bet you guys had a good time. Especially since the sand stays warm." At the mention of surfing she shook her head and laughed a little. "I bet she was amazing on a surfboard. Not me though, I am a complete disaster. Like a deer on ice, it is that bad."
She had no qualms laughing at her clumsiness, or laughing at herself in general. Life was far too short to take it seriously. Her head turned as one of the staff refilled her coffee mug and she gave a grateful smile, murmuring a soft 'thank you' before turning back to her companion, her voice lowered slightly. "I am not sure I could handle it so well." She indicated him with a small gesture of her hand. Him, Ali, Elliot, Pi and all the other vampires she knew. She didn't blurt out what they were, for that was a secret she would keep until the end of days. "I don't know that I could stay out of the sun." Even though she was so pale her skin bordered on translucent, the tiny woman loved the sun, well protected of course. But she enjoyed soaking up the warmth of the rays and digging her toes in to hot sand.

He recalled when she got back on the board in the water, a smirk coming to his lips along with a small chuckle. "Took her a while but she got back to it like a pro." He licked is lips and pushed his empty glass aside, that's all he would drink for now. "Me on the other hand I'm not sure how well I would have worked on that surf board." He wished he could drink water, something, just to get rid of the taste in his mouth. That's all what was on his mind, all he could taste, it was distracting him.
He shook his head and tapped his fingers on the bar counter, but it wasn't because he was annoyed, just in deep thought. "It's not pleasant to me unlike to others..." He said in a low tone, returning his gaze to the blonde beside him with brows raised. "I can't handle not seeing the sun anymore. I'm literally pacing each sunrise when I can't sleep, wishing I could just open the windows. Though," He leaned in more towards her to keep his voice quiet. "I did though feel it in a way, but also the pain of what it can do." He leaned back with a sigh.

Tiamat looked into the woman’s and cocked her head at an angle. She had forgotten that others could sometimes hear her. She smiled as a glass of wine was set in front of her. She took a small sip of the crimson fluid before raising an eyebrow to being told about the open mic. She hadn’t really taken the time to study her surroundings like she usually did. She took a brief moment to glance around and did indeed see the stage setup in the bar.
“Thank you,” she told the bartender, “for the wine, and the compliment.” Tiamat tilted the glass and drank her wine in one shot. She gently set the glass down before addressing the other woman’s invitation. “I’m fairly certain my employer would be sad if she knew I was singing in an establishment that isn’t the restaurant.”
She noticed the actions of Elliot, a man she had met once in the bar. She shifted her eyes back to the other bartender and raised an eyebrow. She stood up and stretched, making sure her dress stayed where it was supposed to. “Though, I guess one song wouldn’t make her too upset,” she commented as she headed to the stage.
After a brief whispered conversation with the house band, Tiamat took hold of the microphone. The music began playing as the raven haired woman’s body moved in time. She opened her mouth and the river of words flowed through the speakers.

"I have heard it is worse than a sun burn." She said quietly, fingers tapping against the warm coffee mug. She gave a soft sigh, thinking about Ali and how much she missed her. Her free hand pushed her hair from her eyes and she looked back at Forsyth. She pursed her lips slightly, trying to think of something else to talk about. Something to turn the subject back to lighter conversation, but she wasn't sure what. So she sat quietly and sipped her coffee, watching Forsyth over the rim of her mug.
"Did you at least try to surf? Or wake board or something?" She finally asked, setting her mug down and grinning at him.
"You can't have gone all that way and not at least tried to surf or wake board. Or get stung by a jelly fish..." She teased him, her amber eyes finally leaving his face to travel around the bar, head canted slightly, listening to the woman sing on stage.

He nodded, recalling the last time he was burned, well twice he was. It was always hard to keep track of time to stay in night life and avoid day life. He sighed with a quick, but deep frown that graced his lips. "Yeah, quite painful. Think of a sunburn and a road burn together." His jaw set slightly as he thought of it, a shudder running up his spine. It's not pleasant, and even thinking of it made him uncomfortable. He shifted in his seat for a moment, letting the silence flow between then in the air.
"No, I didn't try much. I just swam and watched her enjoy herself. I took her there so she would relax for once, and be happy. Seeing as, well, I can't do that that much." His voice faded into a quiet whisper, biting his bottom lip. "Surprisingly I didn't do anything much except enjoy the warmth, sun, and water. As well as my favorite scenery. I've visited there many times before for business, another of my favorite countries to visit." He looked back at her, flashing a crooked grin.

In the sudden rush of conversation and new faces, Yasu had slid into the shadows, or at least against one of the nearby walls, flicking through his book once more. It seemed a puzzling thing, the man occupying a public space with such an introvert manner, delving into the favored paper borders over those near to him. It was the specter that shadowed him that had persuaded such an action when the book fanatic would much rather have been at home, sorting the latest collection for sale. True to its nature, his clingy ghost companion was chatty as ever, going on in the readers ear about some murder he'd committed in the 80's, in grisly detail. Of course. As per usual, Yasu chose to ignore its attempts to get a rise out of him, although his current choice in literature wasn't much help. Really, family crises novels weren't much his thing, even if it did have a fascinating theme to it. Maybe tonight just wasn't his night for such stories.
Snippets of conversation flew over his head as the book was tucked under his arm, fingers digging in his inner pockets for one of the other three he always carried on hand. Chatter about travel dredged up reluctant memories of his own home, but they were thankfully washed away as music piped up, drawing his gaze. The shadows in the corners of Yasu's eyes deepened as his gaze narrowed in a relaxed manner. Though he preferred classical himself, the more new age style that filled the air from the stage held enough of a classy undertone that he actually managed to enjoy it, even if his features remained as stoic as ever. He dropped his gaze about halfway through the song, continuing to dig through his pockets for a particular book of those he carried.
