If I break something, odds are I can still sell it for scrap.
I mentioned that before.. with metal, it is so easy to salvage if you have metal working skills. You break a blade.. You recast it. You crack a barrel, you weld it.. and bore it out a again.

And this is a metal working skill. There should not be that much scrap. And Like Nix Mun said.. what the metal worker cant use, its sold for scrap to be metal down into ingots gain.

I finally got around to doing this with leir, and I couldn't make anything past an 8 besides the stock part which i got to 10 and was pretty scared to try to make it go any further with a 53% chance to break it.

Parts that were 4-5 I broke crap tons of just trying to get to 5-6.

Thanks!!

BTW I managed to get a bunch of parts up to Q10 but ended up destroying them when trying to get them past that at a 41 - 51% chance of breakage. But that was before the update.

The update hasn't made it easier to improve parts. We might make it slightly easier, but we haven't just yet. We've merely made it less costly energy wise, and slightly more rewarding exp wise (improving better quality parts gives more reasonable exp rewards).

It's a fair enough point, but we have to keep gameplay and game balance in mind when it comes to things that don't totally make sense.

But having said that, I think it's probably worth finding a middle ground between this idea and the original mechanic. Perhaps a chance for it to degrade instead of break, but it still uses one of the 5 improvement tallies.

I'm actually okay with stuff breaking (especially at 40-50% chance) I was more wondering why I could craft a 10 but trying to get to 5/6 from 4/5 (a 15 or 20% chance) was breaking like crazy. >>

It could just be that Leir's mechanics is still pretty low in the scheme of things, though, I suppose.
