While she stayed here for a time. Was she already planning to leave? He could sense she was upset about something. Perhaps he could have acclimated her to his somewhat unorthodox lifestyle a little bit slower, true. He needed to remind himself that most others still had humanity close to their hearts. Still, weren't there horror movies out there showing worse? Or at least the same amount of viscera and gore? He suspected than the images being on a screen made the thought of it all more palatable to people. To him it was all just meat. Talking animals. The ones he took were usually, not always, but usually talking animals of the worst kind.
He wasn't a hero by any stretch, nor was he even an anti-hero. He was a monster who preyed on humans trying to be monsters. Humans who did monstrous things.
It just so happened he believed all vampires were capable and even wanted to do the same deep within their cold dead hearts. Some just had to be shown the path. It was a situation that, given eternity for a lifespan, an immortal would no doubt face at least once if not more. The choice of having to take a life to protect themselves or a loved one. In Trahir's case much less provocation was needed for him to resort to lethal levels of violence.
As Shadis presses her lips to his though, his mind swims. Again he finds her aura pulling him, drawing him to her. He feels his desires rise.
She was an Allurist, emotional. She needed to feel things. That was what made her who she was. He was a Killer. Both paths leaned toward physical pursuits, but emotionally they were miles apart. Her emotions were enhanced, his deadened. Somehow though they found a middle ground. It seemed in Trahir's world opposites attracting were a reality. He was content to lose himself in the kiss.
Soon the sun would rise. Nicolette would be by to prepare the crypt for their rise at sunset and their eternal dance through the moonlight would continue. He was content for the moment to glide across that dance floor with Shadis.
"Not all of us can kill with impunity. You will though at some point find yourself in a situation where you will have to choose death for another. When that time comes, hesitating could cost you or others you care about their lives. You are an immortal. You have all the potential to be anything you wish. Lifetimes to learn. Those mortals like Stephen, they are like insects. Their lifespan a few paltry years. They are nothing compared to you."
He leans in and gives her another soft kiss then. "Will you be joining me in the eastern chamber today?"
