I do not think anyone IS arguing, just adding more information for those that may not have firsthand experience, so they may have some ideas of things to write about.

I think then David should go more into detail as to just what is happening then. His previous post stating the groups say flooding but if its that cold in that neighborhood then perhaps he will need to change that. However... If he wants flooding then lets give him flooding despite the snow and ice. There are ways to explain the how flooding can happen, we just ignore the too cold fact.

And yes, lexy, that was my original intent.

I don't think anyone is really arguing, so much as trying to get an idea of how a flood in -7 degree Celsius would look.

A lot of us have never been in an earthquake, and some of us have never been in true a 'blizzard' either.

I think it is more a, 'help me get this in my head', rather than arguing over anything in particular.

I actually appreciate the photo links, as it helped me get it in my head what sort devastation could be expected.

I'm going to RP this based on what my brain decides are the conditions to which it has decided it will be.

Coming from a warm and but seismically prone geographical location - this means, I'mma make some **** up. It'll be grand!

That's the problem, though. There isn't flooding per-se in below-freezing weather:

It's just a coating of ice anywhere water got, and hurricane-force winds would whip it across everything.

Then it's a summer hurricane. Which is fine, we can RP a summer hurriquake, but it's not winter in Canada.

There is one big thing I do need to point out... Hurricane is the wrong word because hurricanes don't form over land. Tornadoes do.

Those pictures you posted, how cold was it where they were taken when they were taken? To me it looks a lot colder than a simple -7°c which I think is about 20°f give or take. That isn't THAT cold for those photos to match.

And it is winter in the northern hemisphere so I didn't say it had to be a summer thing.

The temperature stated in game at the time was something like -8 C, as Phoenix posted. Well, as you might have noticed, in this once instance the weather in real Canada right now doesn't match up with the weather in this fictional Canada. So you can assume that the temperature increased slightly over the past week, to around -5 C on average.

At this temperature, yes you would get freezing waters, yes you would get snow, but the ice on the rivers would not be thick at all. Here in the UK when we get to -5 C, the waters only ice over a little. In addition, any river banks bursting (after the massive earthquake split the thin ice) or water gushing up from the sewers would not freeze instantly. It would take several hours for it to freeze, I believe.

If I'm mistaken here, let me know.
