Re: New Adventures (Segreti)
Perking a brow as he began humming. It was pretty and definitely caught her attention to pull her from her thoughts. She wondered if it was a particular song so she carefully connected her mind with his and tilted her head as he thought about price to offer. Biting her lower lip as she wondered if she should respond and then smirked at him as she nodded her head and proceeded to answer his questions in the same fashion that he heard his questions. 'Well you could always aim high...maybe a million and if you do not have it, I will give it to you. No problem but it still is not a guarantee that they will take the offer.' Giving him a little wink as she picked up the ritual book again and starting flipping through the pages seeing if there was anything she recognized when she had attempted them before she was banned from doing them because of the attacks from the demi-fae.
"Powers are definitely useful and each one has a purpose be it for offensive or defensive. I would be proactive about learning more on what you could do especially with these gatherings that you are having if I were you. They could come in handy to protect yourself as well as others. I personally am going to continue to learn additional powers so that I can help you out as well. I would not want to see anyone get hurt especially if they are innocent bystanders coming to see what you have to say." It wasn't a demand that she was putting out there for him but more of a perspective. Someone having powers was a benefit but the more powers they had, the better.
Nodding her head as he stated that he would get into contact with some of the local farmers. This would be a great partnership if they would jump on board to help assist with gathering blood so that vampires could continue to live if they couldn't use their powers to restore their blood and to protect the human race. She had noticed that the price in blood packs had gone up but she had been using her own powers to maintain her blood levels so that she wasn't hemorrhaging money just to feed. "A meeting with them would be a good idea. If they were not on board with helping but could give some information, I am sure that we can get a farm up and running ourselves. There is always people looking for employment."
Lizzie couldn't keep from smiling as he seemed happy that she was willing to show him her cheetah form. Giving a slight shrug of her shoulders as she looked around and smirked. "I do not know...I might be able to entertain myself here. You have a lot of different things that you have collected that I would be willing to learn about. Though know that if I do shift, it will be most of the day and I will be speaking through your mind. Obviously cats cannot talk, it would be weird." She laughed a little at this, it was a stupid statement to make because everyone knew that animals couldn't talk but it was amusing to her. "As for the summoning, it would be simple to test. You would have to think of me as a friend or ally so that will be when you are ready and truly feel that I am someone that you can trust. Then we will choose a time when we are both available to give it a go. I will let you decide because I can always free up my calendar and I would not want to pull you from a meeting that you may or may not be having. That would be a little alarming to anyone that you might be entertaining at the time."
Almost biting at the inside of her cheek as she thought on his statements of the security. If they were a private security unit, were there really specific laws pertaining to what they could or could not do? She was unsure exactly but her personal security was fully armed in case there was a need because protecting her family was everything. "I would look into city laws but if it is a private security, like one that you employ, I am not sure if they have certain laws. If so then I probably am breaking a few laws with my personal security team that I have employed for my family. I have them protected as if we were a mafia or something. I am serious about their safety."
Excitement filled Lizzie as Antonio stated that he would see what teas he had. Following him to the kitchen, she leaned up against the counter and watched him get the tea ready. He had an intelligent mind and as he spoke, it was sad that it seemed that he was going to choose to stay human. Maybe he hadn't thought of the other option because no one offered it to him. "Have you thought about becoming a vampire before? Not saying that it would be today or even next year but you do not have to die if you do not want to. You can always continue to learn and help those in need. There are options..." She knew that she was bold to even suggest it but she couldn't see herself dying permanently when there is so much good that she could do. Shaking her head at his question because she didn't know the answer. "That personally is beyond my knowledge. Only sorcerers that I had known eventually accepted the life of a vampire so there was no time clock to punch." Honestly was all she could be because she wouldn't lie to him as that wouldn't help him in his concerns on death nor aid their possible relationship.

Re: New Adventures (Segreti)
Segreti's head shot up when he heard the voice in his head, then he let out a chuckle, "Oh right, you can hear that." he gave a shake of his head still smiling, "Fair enough. I don't have a million I can dish out though. That type of money takes...time. Hundred k maybe, million, not likely."
He agreed that there were different uses with different powers. And that he should definitely start working on learning more of them. He actually knew most of them, but applying them in combat, that was a little less common. Usually he just kept them around in case he got into a fight with one or two things roaming around. "One regular paladin, that I can probably handle. Mooncalves and zombies. On an individual basis at least, not an issue. A group, that may require more skill than just number of powers. I'll still see what I have left to learn. But eventually I'll reach a limit I'm sure. And I do thank you, it would definitely help having someone who could aid in preventing people getting hurt."
"Well, glad that's on. We'll see how well it works I suppose." He responded to the next matter of farmers. That would now just require the actual action of getting into it. Not that he knew how to actually do that. He'd leave that up to the people he hired, however, he'd have to get a manager for that. This would require a whole separate amount of work to get it functioning properly. Boy what amount of time was this going to take?
Surprisingly she seemed ok with staying here for awhile after she'd shifted, if she did,, as long as she had something to do. And she showed interest in the many things he had collected. Segreti was a bit obsessed with the supernatural, so naturally there was a great deal of books on history and mythology that he kept available, well, that along with the perhaps hundreds of articles he had bookmarked, saved, or taken notes from. He chuckled slightly, yes, of course cats can't talk, "Right, obviously that'd be too far." He joked, a talking animal was probably one of the least unbelievable things about Harper Rock or vampires. "I'd be perfectly fine with you looking around most of my stuff, as long as it's not in something locked naturally. And that'd include my computer, though, I do generally just bring that with me. But all the books, or pictures or something, feel free." The kettle whistled and he wondered if he hadn't noticed if it had started before or not, he started fully preparing the tea as she continued, setting the bag and waiting a few minutes as she talked about how summoning worked. "Fair enough, I think that'd be interesting for sure. May have to discuss that more later, I don't really know how it all works. Or if it changes anything if I'm a sorcerer. Maybe do it somewhere where I can observe it on my end without risking breaking anything." he thought aloud, not that it was necessary, since apparently he could think internally and she'd still hear it.
He picked up the teacup and put it on a small saucer carrying it over to her, as they continued. Laws were indeed problematic. She mentioned she might be breaking a few laws, but all to protect her family. He smiled and held up his hands, "Just don't give me details. I may need some plausible deniability." he said with a smile, "Mostly that's a joke, but you never know. Yeah I'll have to look into that though, or I suppose I could just hire someone and hope that either they're obeying the law, or I can at least remain innocent of what they did."
He couldn't blame her for wanting to keep her family safe, that was quite a fair thing to want. And in a place like this, was the law really something that needed to be obeyed every time. Especially with the laws that were now being implemented.
He looked with some curiosity and a cocked head as she asked if he'd ever thought of becoming a vampire, and that even if he didn't make such a decision now, he might be able to take that option one day. He sat down thoughtfully, she said she'd met sorcerers before, but they became vampires, so she wouldn't know. He let out a chuckle, though it was less humor, and more...curiosity, "Well, I can't say that i haven't ever thought about what it'd be like for me to be a vampire." he folded his hands together, "But I never fully considered it as an option. I don't even know if I could choose it, willingly. I'm a curious man, and maybe when I get to death I'd rather not. If vampires are truly immortal, it'd scare me. Not just because of the many ill fates that could be brought to me if somebody did decide to experiment on me. But because, theoretically, a vampire could one day learn all there is to know. And...maybe that'd be worse to me than the not knowing."
He furrowed his brow looking at her, "But a human, they die, and they're gone forevor. But I don't know where. If we go nowhere, well, that'd be disappointing. But it'd also mean I won't have to worry. I heard once that in some cases, a Heaven is eternal learning about God. Because they believe him to be infinite. I'd like to think maybe it'll be something like that, so that I can learn forever. But, then again, maybe it won't be. Maybe it'd be somewhere like the Shadow Realm. And I won't be able to learn almost anything new, and I'll regret the decision."
He shook his head getting up and heading back to the kitchen intending to pour himself a glass of wine, "Sorry, thank you for bringing it up. It's really an...interesting prospect. But...I'm scared to say that I'd do it, and scared to refuse. I'm not often afraid, but eternity...that's daunting."

Re: New Adventures (Segreti)
He took it lightly that she spoke to him through his mind. It was comforting to know that he wasn't bothered by it or worse...scared. Antonio smiled and that made her flutter on the inside. Nodding her head at his statement and smiled as she spoke in a reassuring tone. "I did offer to give you the money. That is no issue for me, I can afford that."
He was concerned about being able to take on multiple targets if it came down to it. It was a valid concern and one that she might have issues with herself but she was up for the challenge. She wanted to help his cause as it was the same cause that she had herself but he was going about it differently which was good because it was getting noticed. "True but I will be there and do what I can to help. I might not be able to take them all on but if it means getting you and everyone else out safely, then that would not be in vain. The safety is important. So when you have these events or gatherings, count me in."
The prospect of the farmers helping create a new option for a food source was promising. This might also help with dropping the price of blood which has been through the roof. A reliable food source was important and this could help mend relations between humans and vampires but it was getting it started and seeing the result that would give a clear picture on whether they were successful or not. She only hoped that they were. It would take a considerable amount of time to get it all set up and enough supply to not worry about running out. He wouldn't be in this alone as she was happy to help every way that she could.
It was good to see him in good spirits and joking. They had spent a good few hours together that they were finally dropping their guards knowing that they were on the same side. He had a good sense of humor though he was still keeping some secrets which was fine, everyone was entitled to keeping secrets. He added that she couldn't look around in anything that was locked which included his computer. There was much information that she could get from his computer but he wasn't giving her a reason at the moment to distrust him so she nodded. "Of course, everyone is entitled to their privacy. I will honour that request." Watching carefully as he prepared the tea, she tapped her fingers on the counter. It was interesting to listen to him talk about the functions of summoning and if it would even work. She chuckled as she tilted her head. "You are thinking to much on it, Mr. Segreti. We just need give it a go the moment that you decide that I am indeed an ally and that you can trust me."
He had a proper tea set, that pleased her as she noticed so many people hadn't had them. They all used large coffee mugs to drink their tea and let the traditional tea cups and saucers behind. Taking the cup and saucer carefully from him. Closing her eyes, she leaned down as she brought the cup up and took a slow deep breath. The scent filled her with joy as she felt the warmth but she held back the urge to take a sip. Today was not the day for her to be violently ill especially in the home of someone she just met. After a few moments, she pulled the cup away and opened her eyes once again. "I will agree to that besides, I prefer to keep those details to myself anyhow. We can use my security detail if needed but see what you can gather first. More that are with my, is more away from my family and I will not being Molly or Chelsea to those meetings. It would only cause more issues that a vampire is raising a human child."
Perking her brow as she watched him tilt his head as she had asked him if he thought about being a vampire. This was clearly the first time that he had been offered the option though with all that he had mentioned of the changes in the city, she wasn't as completely surprised as she would have normally been. Nodding her head as he spoke through his thoughts aloud. Smiling as he didn't know if he could choose it willingly. "Of course you can choose this life willingly. I doubt you have to worry to much about experiments, I would keep you safe and train you. You can gain the knowledge that you desired." She paused as he furrowed his brow at her and he began processing death. Sighing softly as she processed his concerns. "They say that there is a realm where the humans go when they die. I assume much like we have the Realm of Shadows but we do not know much about it. No one really knows and for that I am truly sorry. However, you can remain alive and learn everything including what we still have to learn because it either has not happened yet or has not been created. There is endless possibilities and you do not have to be alone in the process."
Frowning as he shook his head and got up. It was definitely too soon for her to bring it up but to her it was fluid to his thoughts. Biting at her lip as she watched him and thought. It was fair to believe that eternity is scary to humans. "It is not that I would turn you this evening. I would never force someone to this life but as I stated, you do not have to spend eternity alone and...well...there is a theory, a rumour really..." She cut off as she realized that she finally gave too much information and she needed to pull back. This last bit would ruin them all and that was not information that she would provide so she left out the specifics. "Rumour is that there is actually a possibility that we do not have to live forever. I just do not know the specifics." Lizzie wasn't void of lying but she didn't like it but should this information get out, her destiny would indeed be written and she wasn't sure who would be the one to permanently kill her...human or vampire.

Re: New Adventures (Segreti)
[for_peace][/for_peace]
"Yes I suppose you did. If we ever manage how to get into contact with them. Maybe we can convince someone to actually tell us something." he said gratefully. Well that was if they'd even be able to get a reasonable response from them.
Once again she said she'd be there to help for safety. He smiled and nodded his head, "Will do, also need to figure out the style of event I can do next time. It's not like the last one worked out well, obviously people got in who shouldn't. On the other hand, it's not like I can have everyone checked at the door. There are digital routes I suppose, have call ins instead of speakers. That tends to attract less attention though." he took a sip of the wine he'd gotten, letting it sit in his mouth before he actually swallowed, "Stopping people at the door and requiring ID's would certainly help, but I'd also have to put extra trust in the people at the front. And know that wherever the records went, they wouldn't be easily stolen." he groaned running his finger on the rim of the wine glass.
There was also the issue of getting the cow blood into Harper Rock. The soldiers were shutting so much down, they were going to be limited on who came in and out. And the problem of what animals to use. It was going to be a long process to get there.
She confirmed that she'd not go searching through his things, "I appreciate that." he said honestly. Back onto the matter of summoning, "Well at the moment I'd say your at there. I mean I wouldn't give you my credit card number or something, but that's a matter of security habit that's should be kept." he took another sip of the wine adjusting himself into the seat and crossing one leg over the other as he shut his eyes breathing through his nose to further get the flavor of the drink. He wasn't a fast drinker, he liked to take each sip with a good amount of time and taste.
She offered that they could use her security, he twisted the glass in his hand, slowly letting the wine swirl around inside of it as she said so, "Mm, yes, that could be good. And probably best they stay away. We don't need any extra danger." it was interesting that she was raising a human really, but he wouldn't blame her. She was human originally wasn't she? Why would her current vampirism prevent her from doing what any other could. No, correction, why should it.
She was offering vampirism. That she'd protect him, and teach him. And he'd be able to learn. He sat fairly still. Considering it as she spoke. And considering the following statement about the human afterlife. If humans afterlife was truly an equivalent of the shadow realm, as it very well could be, then he'd be done. He'd live for an eternity, but without any real life. As a vampire, he at least would have something to do. He smiled, there was just...one other problem, "You know. I can't say that I don't want to." he stroked his chin, "But then there goes possibly the last leg up I have in a debate." he said looking at her, "I know it's wrong that people think that way. But me being human is probably one of the few things that helps. Before I make that decision, I'm going to find out what good I can do as human. Even if in the process I have to get close to risking the one life that I do have. Because if I don't, I might not accomplish anything at all."
She mentioned something else, something about not having to live forever. As if there was a choice. He ran his hands through his hair in thought, "That does definitely sound intriguing." he continued to have a furrowed brow as he took another sip. "I'll need time. I want you to know I really do appreciate it though, and I can't say that I'm turning it out downright. Just perhaps...not at this time."
"Excellent, then reach out and see what comes of it. I can put the money in your account now or later, all up to you." Hopefully he would be able to expand his knowledge and learn more about the creatures in the caverns.
She was pleased that he seemed happy that she was planning to him. He was accepting the assistance and now it was a matter of how the events would proceed. Bobbing her head from side to side as she thought about it for a few moments. "Well you could keep it the same and try that once more. You had a decent turn out from what I saw when we were in the car and you were thinking about it. You will not be able to keep everyone out that might want to do harm but we can try and lessen the amount of harmful poeple enter. Let us try your idea of checking ID's but if any vampire shows up and produces an ID that states they are a vampire, it has to be kept silent and no one is to know. It is up to the vampire for them to announce if they are a vampire or not." Nodding her head as he said that what records they gathered wouldn't be easily stolen. "I appreciate that. I will help with bridging the gap between the races but I will not out anyone if they do not want others to know. I do not mind them knowing who I am or what I am, I have not been silent in the past about being a vampire and if vampires exist, I died several times because of this, however, they do not know about my human child and I would like to keep it that way. People who know about Chelsea are those that I have allowed it and those people are in my employment."
Lizzie was about to make a move that she had never done before unless it was her family but if he was going to help her and her help him. He had to know why she was fighting but still being a little reserved. He stated that at the moment, he looked at her as an ally and that solidified her decision. Nodding her head as she stood up, had already locked in where they were when they drove up to help her get back. "You are most welcome and thank you for thinking of me as an ally and someone that you could trust. Also, you would not need to give me your credit card number, that could be obtained but I would not seek it out anyway. Give me just a moment, if you will." Taking a moment as she looked at him with soft eyes before she was gone in a blink.
Arriving outside of the gallery, she looked around quickly before she rushed in. Nodding at the security as she passed by to rush to her office. Entering and shutting the door behind her, she looked at the guard that was standing detail at the spiral staircase that led to her home above. "I will be taking Chelsea but please stay and watch out for Molly." The guard nodded his head and moved to let her pass by. Rushing up the stairs, it was dark with a single light on in the living room. Molly was a sleep on the couch with her law books in her lap. She smiled as she walked over and wrote a quick note explaining where she and Chelsea were and that she would message her later. Walking into Chelsea's room, she packed a small bag so that she could get dressed when she woke as she promised that she would see her when her little eyes fluttered open, Lizzie was going to keep that promise.
Once her things were gathered, she leaned down and wrapped the little girl into her arms, closing her eyes, she thought of the location of Antonio's home and pictured the front door. In an instant, she arrived and smiled as she looked around and noticed his car. She had gotten it right. Stepping inside, she made her way back to the parlor that they had been chatting in. Laying the little ginger haired girl down on the couch that they hadn't been using and covered her with a blanket before her eyes looked back at Antonio. "I have wanted unity between the races long before she came along and now she is why it has to succeed. If you trust me then I am going on a limb to trust you. Please do not let me down."
Taking a seat once more to pick up the conversation that she left during as if nothing really happened other than there was now a little girl across the way. Nodding her head as he stated that it was best not to use her security for the moment but that was something that she would keep as an option depending on how the search goes. "Sounds good, they will remain on the back burner if needed." Here eyes glaced over at Chelsea to make sure that she was still sleeping well before her attention moved back to him and she crossed her leg over the other.
Lizzie could see the wheels turning in his mind over the movements of his facial features as he processed her words on vampirism. He was considering the option of being a vampire but he had his concerns. She listened to him and nodded. "I respect that and I completely understand. It is not a decision that has to be made right this minute or even this year. This is a decision that happens when you feel that it is the right time and something that you want to actually do. Stay human for as long as you wish especially if you feel this helps with what we are about to do with trying to bridge the gap between races. If you feel you have an advantage, then keep that advantage. Though if you feel any of the events become life threatening, we might revisit this conversation. You have the ability to do good, I will try and make sure that you can continue your work."
He seemed to process everything she said even what she stated about the possibility of a permanent death. Nodding her head as he needed time. "I was giving you all of the options that are out there. The world is not black and white like most would like to see it. There are always options, it just depends on what you feel is right for you."

He smiled and nodded about reaching out. "Thank you. I'll start working on that, if I get the chance." he said gratefully.
Her suggestions and comments were taken into consideration. It was a useful plan. The problem was, application. How do they really enforce it? Do you refuse people with criminal records? Or is it just important to have their ID so they can't get away without being tracked down. She also repeated she wanted to keep Chelsea a secret, which was all fair. "We can, it might be risky. I think it's likely I'd put up a warning to take care, even if I know that it might not be necessary. There is...another useful thing I remembered. I don't know about the ethics of it though, I don't remember the ingredients right now."
He got up, walking over to the book filled with rituals, and starting to sift through the pages as he spoke, "I haven't learned it myself, so I don't know if it works. The problems comes with what may be required to make it, some rituals require things that...just can't be gained through good intentions. Sometimes maybe by accident, rarely, but otherwise it's just...questionable." He paused as he looked at it, muttering to himself. It didn't have the runes themselves required to make the ritual work, or at least all of them, but it did list the ingredients, he let out a hum of uncertainty, "..actually. This isn't entirely implausible. Some of these are reletively easy I think, even if not all for me. Hawks eye, antique, greater mooncalf bone, bishops weed," he tapped the last three, "Sorcerers blood, I can do that myself I suppose. Paladin blood...might be manageable. But it'd be difficult to convince one of it. Perhaps I could pay them for that. Or keep it in mind if one of the crazy ones comes for me."
--
Although she thanked him for thinking of her as an ally, it seemed she had somewhere to be--and she was gone. Not through the door, just gone. He shut the ritual book and set it down, "Huh. Kind of like the return home tome maybe?" he thought to himself, his could do something like that. But it was only one way. He looked at the book again, thumping it against his hand as he began to walk around the room thoughtfully, moments later she returned. He'd set up his computer on a table as he waited, shuffling through emails.
A bit later and she was right back inside, a little girl in her arms, he stood up, as she did, smiling kindly as he noticed the child. He walked over putting a hand on a chair as he looked at her covered in a blanket, to sleep it seemed. He glanced back at Elizabeth as she spoke of unity, and that she would be willing to trust him in return for his, he nodded his head, "I don't intend to."
She sat down and they went right back to speaking. He'd occasionally glance at her to see if speaking would bother her, and had quieted his voice just a little for now. More talk of vampirism. It was a troublesome topic. She was certainly not pushing him to or from it, just...offering it. He smiled at her gratefully, "I appreciate it, really I do. And I'll keep it in mind."
He furrowed his brow thoughtfully, a mix of emotions seeming to go through him, as something occurred to him. He glanced up, "I...have a little bit of a realization. What happens...when they start trying to make prisons." he leaned back in his chair, "There's only going to be one of two routes when it comes to that. They either send vampires to the shadow realm and count that as imprisonment, and try and keep track of anywhere they can come back. Orthey try and find a way to stop vampires from using their powers. If that's even something that they are capable of doing."

Re: New Adventures (Segreti)
[for_peace][/for_peace]
Lizzie felt like they had made progress with each other and the plans going forward to help the city grow together in unity. It wasn't going to be easy and she was aware of this as she had taken on this project before so she was prepared. He was even willing to help her protect her daughter should anything happen and he understood her concerns. They were going to take every precaution needed for the events and right now she was starting to feel comfortable about partnering with him. The whole evening was surreal as they met because he wanted to talk about the orphanage and yet because of his events, it lead to talk of paladins, changes to the city, and a partnership that could actually make progress to helping both races bridge together.
Antonio was sifting through the book of rituals for a certain one that might be able to help. She tilted her head as she watched and listened to him that he hadn't learned it yet. He seemed to have found it and perked her brow as she listened to his thoughts thinking it would be easy and then the ingredients needed. Thinking about what she might have at home only for her to smile. "I have some of the items needed, not many but some and I could see about helping with some of the others. Though if you need help learning the ritual, you know of someone that can help you as she is proficient in the way of rituals and that would be your friend from you recent event."
It was comforting to watch him almost stand over her daughter as he had watched her place the little girl on the couch. This had gone beyond a level of trust that she had with anyone that wasn't her family. In her mind, if they kept on this current path, he would be considered family to her. He stated that he didn't intend on breaking her trust and she had to trust his word because if she couldn't trust them then they had a toxic partnership. "Thank you."
Lizzie couldn't help but smirk as he started to talk in a hushed whisper. He was kind and considerate. Nodding once as he appreciated her offer and would keep it in mind. As he finished, she leaned forward in the seat and spoke in a normal tone. "I appreciate you being considerate but do not worry about talking quietly, she is quite the heavy sleeper."
His face gave off a wave of emotions and she felt concern but wanted to help. As he glanced up at her and began to speak, she relaxed a little bit because he was asking questions that she came to realizations to before. "I have thought over these before and not sure how they can make a prison to keep anyone from teleporting out or being summoned. If there is away to block magic, that is not something that I would know how to do. That might be a ritual but I do not know. As for imprisoning us in the Realm of Shadows, there are rifts that would allow us to leave and I do not know of any mystical logistics that would prevent us from returning but that would be something to ask an Elder as they might know how they were forced to remain in the Realm of Shadows during the Holocaust. There are many variables at play..."

Re: New Adventures (Segreti)
[for_peace][/for_peace]
Today had been a very productive day. Although, he started to realize just how far they'd drifted off the original path. Then again, it wasn't like there was much to talk about for that. He was offering money to the orphanage, it was that simple. However by now they'd drifted and stayed inside the troubles and facts of vampires and humans. Not that he minded that.
She said she had some of the items which made him smile, as did that she'd look to getting help. She also apparently had someone she knew that was good at this sort of thing, "Oh that'd be very helpful. Much of this has been trial and error. So I have...a considerable amount of notes that aren't even in this book. Some of which were scrapped, but which I didn't want to put in the trash in case I found something in them later." rituals were a very strange thing. They harnessed the power of supernatural beings which, ultimately, was something that in and of itself fascinated him. Not just the effects of it, but the thing itself. That anyone could simply catch one of these beings by the simple act of an altar and some ingredients. It was...absurd really, and yet it was so easy. Even though they could of course get injured in the process. It was like if a chimp had trapped a soldier.
He chuckled, though still quietly, as she mentioned that the girl was quite a deep sleeper and he didn't have to be quiet, he raised his volume, but not to quite its former sound. It was still somewhat soft, "Well that does make things easier. But still, you know, good habit I guess?" he said holding out his hands as an almost shrug and smile.
Her answers to his comments on prison were interesting. No known way to entrap them. Nor would sending them to the shadow realm work very long term. That meant that the only thing they could hope to do was either keep them unconscious, which would be cruel, or...have the death itself be the danger of committing crimes. Perhaps that was what had really gone by in regards to what vampires were already enforcing with each other. There were good parts and bad parts to this, "I wouldn't be surprised if something exists somewhere to halt powers. Whether or not it could contain the number a prison would hold is a whole extra matter. I don't know any elders so...that's definitely not something I can do. I just hope they don't find even worse ways to try and keep vampires contained. I mean, I don't know how much fiction you read, but there are a number of...unpleasantly creative solutions for people with powers or immortality."
He let out a sigh and leaned his head back against the chair rubbing his fingers together, "The implausibility of peace. And yet it still must be sought out. It'll never stay, even if we catch it. It never does. But maybe, just maybe we can find a way to get it to cool down before there's a true war."
Nodding her head as he stated that it would be helpful if she provided items to him for his rituals. "Please provide me with a list and I will see what I can do to get them for you. If you feel you need help with the rituals, think of the woman that helped at the event you had recently, she can help you." Lizzie kept in mind who she saw at the event, granted it was the woman's back but she was unmistakable as to who she was. Smiling as she made a mental note to start gathering items before he gave her a list unless he provided one to her this evening for the just in case it was needed. She had all but one flower in her hydros at one of her homes so flowers were handled unless it was the one she wasn't growing.
Lizzie smirked as he spoke about good habits while still being quiet but not as quiet. "I completely understand. I find I do the same myself. Would you rather I moved her to another room? I brought her here because I am trusting you and you can see why this fight for me is so important to me. It was important long before she came along but more so since she came into my life. She is human and if the wrong person knows that, it is highly possible that, that could be used against me. Plus you said that you would care for her in case anything happened to me and you should get to know her." She always took risks since she became a vampire, like the bad risk she took by going on the radio so many years prior to let the community know that vampires were real and existed when the masquerade was still highly important. Though because of it, she wasn't void of what the consequences were.
The thoughts on imprisonment for vampires was concerning but still a thought that needed to go over because that might actually be a development in the future. It was unsettling but she would dance with the curiosity. "I would not put it past the hostile group of humans that might actually be trying to make such a device. I pray that they do not but we might never know until such a device is made and tested on my kind. Most of the elders are gone now but I wonder if there is one around that I could reach out to or even someone that is one of their childer that was also around then that might know. They were stuck in the Realm of Shadows for two hundred years before they could escape." Shaking her head as he mentioned reading fiction novels. "I do not read fiction unless it is childrens books to Chelsea. Though I am sure you are right...it is just when will those creative solution rear their ugly heads."
Her eyes watched him as he leaned back in his chair. They both had a lot to think about and honestly, he had more to consider as he had learned so much especially about her race. The bonus was that he was on her side and that helped balance the partnership. "But there have been some cases when peace did stick but it takes work. Everything takes work but it is work that is needed. I am willing to put in the work." Leaning forward and resting her elbows on her knees as she nodded at his latter statement. "Do you have an idea how to cool it down to keep a war from happening?"

He nodded as she asked about the list. Noting the ingredients on the book and stepping aside to start writing them down. And just in case places that he knew, if he did, of some of them. He didn't have an answer for all. But you never know. That'd take some time to work up. But if he could make the ritual work, than he'd use it next time he needed an event done. It would truly provide a peace of mind if he knew there would be no violence. The only concern left would be if they tried something outside of the event. But planned it while inside. So he'd still preform all the necessary ID checks he believed would be useful. And have security of course. Even if it wouldn't mean much.
She mentioned moving the girl to another room, and that it was about trust. It made sense. The child was important to her, as she should be. He smiled again, perhaps with a little sympathy. And the look a person makes when speaking of children, innocent as they can be. Important as they are, "It's alright. You can or not. I'll just be a little quieter even if she doesn't really care." he said with a shrug. It wasn't a whisper of a voice. And it wasn't muffled. But it was definitely far from loud. "But yes, care should be taken. We don't want the wrong people to learn and try and take advantage of it."
There was agreement that sooner or later someone might try and create the means to prevent vampires from using their powers long term. The elders may know, but they weren't exactly easily accessible. He wondered then, did vampires ever just give up coming back? Was there an end point where they didn't grow anymore? If not, what was the oldest vampire they knew of? So many questions. Never enough answers. "Let's hope...if someone does come up with something...it'll be humane. But unfortunately I find it likely that that'll take awhile. If it happens at all. The more gruesome methods maybe not." He paused, and cocked his head, furrowing his brow, "Vampires rely on anima for powers right, like I would for mine? Or, some form of energy. I wouldn't be surprised if there are paladins already aware of how vampires use their powers. And their limitations. If they learned how to drain it, and then prevent it from regenerating or being gained. That might be another method they'd choose."
Fortunately there were slightly more joyous topics to speak about. She talked about peace sometimes sticking. And that it'd take work, but she was willing to give it. He nodded, somewhat absently, "Such a broken history this world has." he muttered, "Violence, greed, pride...hunger, disease. So much."
She asked about how to cool things down before a war, he raised his eyebrows and thought about it. Gnawing on his tongue as he did so. "Theoretically, there are some ideas. But this is ignoring whatever abilities the Jorogomo and Encantado may employ. Or influence from fae. There's always some human who's more influential than someone would expect too. Huh, or not. You never know if the people in history were truly human do you. It shouldn't matter. But it does."
He ran his hands through his hair, somewhat disheveling what was usually well kept, "Peace. It's a fickle thing. But so is anger. We have to establish a connection between humans and vampires before the enemy, vague as that is, establishes a disconnect. Like was done with Blacks and Jews, they're given traits that people can attribute to them because sometimes it's accurate. Even though those cases are outliers. But it was done with the Irish as well. Today a lot of people don't even think of that. What we want to achieve is, to an extent, make that connection that most have now with the Irish. To most people who are white, the Irish are too. There's a need that people understand vampires and humans are effectively the same being but with different traits just like people of different ethnicities."
The sorcerers eyes seemed to pass along as if reading into it, "We need to find more. Create public discussions. Internet forums, talks, maybe even Q&A's. There are going to inevitably be vampires who can't hide who they are. Some of them may want to join. Under pen names if they feel like it. Get out stories of what happened. Make people understand that vampires are just as human as everyone else."
He nearly let out a loud groan before considering the presence of the child again. Instead swallowing it down and just staring at the ceiling. "This is going to take a long time." he chuckled to himself, "And here I am. Just a businessman who liked history and the supernatural. There's probably thousands out there who could do this job better than me."
