Isn't it counter productive to have people post their cards at least a week and a half to a month early for this? I don't plan on participating but I'd say it makes things more difficult to follow who's signing up rather than having a good old-fashioned sign up list that people can refer to at a glance and having people post a week before.

It worked really well last year, with over 50 participants and there wasn't any confusion at all Dan.

The feedback last year is that people loved it, and thought the early auction cards, which are approved right away, which then meant their auction started right away (in an RP sense). It also meant people have three weeks of RPing in their threads for a good month prior to the auction end date.

This gives people the opportunity to RP in their own time, which was cool for everyone. Feedback for this part was overwhelmingly in favour of auction cards and individual threads.

I've gone ahead and sent them a PM to check here and hopefully we'll get an answer soon. Might well mean only one character per player, but since I only play one character I don't see too much of a problem with that overall and think either way it goes it should be all good.

Might not get the same 50 entries like we did last year, but better to be sure about how things are run.

I say kudos to Pi for organising this to begin with. Being alongside her while she organises this and sees it through right to the end, I know it's a behemoth thing with a lot of problems attached to it.

It's a massive endeavour, and she's got a work and a whole bunch of study to do. This is something to try to engage the players of path and get a bit of activity going.

Thank you, Pi, for giving it a go.

Pi, I'm sorry but I'm not Dan. Just wanted to clear that up.

Now, because we've had a few pages go since I posted this up. I'll re-post

Auction time is coming:

Auction cards can be posted as of 11:59pm, 18 September 2015.

So, that starts next week and people can start posting their auction cards up in Lancaster's for the event at the above date.

I'll be reserving the first auction spot for the special beginning (or end) auction, depending on what gets offered up as far as story goes.

Have a quick squidge of the rules, if you've never done this before (I know they're long, but they're just trying to cover the bases, and any questions about functionality can go in this thread and I'll pop in and answer them as soon as I can.)

Sign ups haven't started yet, Submitting auction cards starts on the 18th September (next week) so you're sorta right on time. Create your auction thread in Lancaster's (just like last year).

For those who haven't done this before, an example Auction Card is below.

Pi dArtois wrote:Did the admins say don't bid on your own stuff? So in your Ty auction, that meant no Ty was allowed to bid in the Ty auction?
The feedback given after the live auction was that no alts belonging to members of the group hosting the event should be taking part. The reason for this was that the entire point of the auction was to raise funds for a specific group. Having member's alts take part in anyway (donating items, winning bids, etc.) would be considered alt aiding. Even just having the alts at the event and bidding on items could be seen as the players trying to inflate prices for the benefit of the group.

For those with concerns about the funds raised at the HR Auction, please watch this space as Pi's player and I are currently discussing what we can do to make sure that as many people/characters as possible can be involved. So changes may be coming as to who the coin is paid too and how the proceeds are split at the end of the event.

Obviously the main rules of the site never change, so people should be careful about who they bid on with which character, so as to avoid receiving warnings about alt aiding.
