Who, what, when, where, why and how.

Those are the six things you need to answer when you thread with someone.

Plotting isn't that hard. You don't need to have an elaborate plot for it to be a great thread.

Something as simple as strangers meeting and feeling a connection leading them to want to sit down and talk a little more in depth is just as good as whatever elaborate storyline people can have at the time.

Yeah and those are normally the types of threads I'm fine with... But they do die rather quickly... Or at least they have for me. >.>

I don't know... Maybe my whole problem is I want elaborate and can't think of anything. Something fun that people want to read or join. Just vain I guess... >.>

If you want something elaborate, you'll likely have to introduce sort of conflict or perturbation. I don't read/participate in open threads because they usually have no plot and fizzle out, so if doesn't matter what you come up with or how great it is, if it's open, I'm out unless there's an RP planning thread.

I know I've offered to write/plot with you multiple times, but nothing's come of it because you've never followed up. There are people willing to write with you, but you do have to put in the legwork to make it work, too. I'd suggest finding a good prompt and taking it from there.

I am guilty of leaving someone hanging.. Now i feel really bad. I felt bad before, but now I feel really bad.. >.<

In my case .. I honestly didn't know where to go next.. to keep the thread going. Trying to stay true to my character.. without walking off.. and Maybe that is what I need to do.. just have him walk off. I guess it is better to be rude to the character than rude to the player.

So thank you for bringing this up.

Now I gotta go write... >.<

Doc-mun there is a slight difference between ditching a thread (something in public) because you didn't know where to go from there. Though I'm sure you at least thought of giving people a heads up first? But yes, being rude to the char (something that really can't be hurt by the real world) than the real person.

But just vanishing and popping back a week/month in a rp that was never seen by anyone else and the connections made at least by one char, only to have them re appear as if everything that happened before never happened without a heads up? That's just ... Yeah...

I mean everyone has left threads hanging, I'm guilt of it as well... But at least I still count the association.

And Nix... My response to you is in a PM

I could totally see a bunch of hackers getting together to bring down one of the canedats in funny ways (in the movie one of the chars has the FBI agent chasing them listed as deceased haha). I really think that this would be the ONLY political rp I'd get behind. However since there is no "least of both evils" when it comes to whatever David may be planning with them, the only thing I could think is bring them all down!
Whenever someone asks me what I'm doing and I'm using up Cass's energy, my response is always, "hacking the Gibson".

Not many people get the reference. :(

I'm all for hacking the Gibson...

we just need a person who's handle is The Plague haha...

The other idea I don't think David would let us get away with is what happened in Live Free or Die Hard... crash the whole of the city with one tiny little worm haha.

I'm known, in some circles, for thread ending two or three posts in because that'd be true to the character I was playing at the time.

Yeah this is how I generally handle open threads. I need some kind of direction if I'm going to post, otherwise I have like no muse for it. I like going in with a plan and enthusiasm, because 99% of the time, that's the only way I'm even gonna finish a thread. LOL.

I normally just write opens because I want to start something and hope (prey... beg the gods in any way i can) that my char will make a friend lol...

I guess I should just give up on that though.
