Re: As the Spawns Spit, Spew and Sputter
--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Doc: "So **** him." Doc shrugged. "You talk to him when you need to because he is in the faction. Be respectful to the position he holds; not necessarily because it is him. You are respecting his position. Other than that.. **** him. You don't need his approval as a person. You don't need his emotion tirade outbursts either."
Phoenix: She sighed and looked at him, completely at a loss for a moment. He made it sound far too easy. Far too... bearable. After a long moment, she nodded. "Alright... none of that fixes the wedding..."
Doc: He inwardly cringed. The wedding. He didn't want to get pulled into that. His gut would be to tell her to cancel it. But would that be fair? really? Just because he hated Blake? "I am not the best person to talk to about weddings Boo..."
Phoenix: "I think we're going to cancel it - we're both too upset right now to want to be happy, and we both deserve better than that. For each other. I don't want to remember forcing myself to be happy for my wedding..." In a word, she sounded defeated.
Doc: He put aside that Blake was involved in this situation. "Boo. **** happens. It happens now, it will happen next week. If you want to cancel, that is your call. But if you are canceling because you can't be 'happy on your wedding' because of the **** with Micah.. you don't need to be getting married. Marriage is ******* hard. You think it will be all flowers and happy ****, you are wrong. The Wedding is the easy part. It only gets harder from then on." He sighed. "Personally I want you to cancel. Not because of Micah. But because I don’t think you are ready for the stress of marriage."
Phoenix: Listening, she nodded once or twice. She didn't necessarily agree, she just couldn't find a flaw in the reasoning. At last not an immediate one. "It's not just the **** with Micah... It's everything that's happened over the past few days. I'm not upset with Blake. He's not upset with me. We're both just... angry at everything else. I know you don't like it, but he's been good to me, dad... Even last night. He was livid when I summoned him, but he didn't leave. He didn't lash out at me. He let me be selfish and use him as a pillow without complaining."
Doc: Doc wanted to say, "I would ******* hope so.. it is the man's position to protect, not lash out. And you should not have had to summon his ***. He should have been there for you from the beginning." That was what he wanted to say. Instead he said, "Good.. " It wasn't much but it wasn't negative either.
Phoenix: "Good?" she asked, eyeing him suspiciously. Her brow furrowed as she squinted, barely noticing that she was slowly uncurling from around her cushion. She wasn't happy, per se, but she was feeling a bit better. "You told me he'd fucked over two women... Can you tell me who they were? Zoey and...? Madison? Wolffyn?"
Doc: "Boo.. we discussed it. You asked me why I felt the way I did. I told you. But I am not going to reveal the names. Not now, not ever. Why? Because it's more than you that would be affected. You just want to know. But lets say I told you.. and you innocently mention to someone, who mentions it to someone .. who tells one of the females. Maybe she would be ok with it. Or maybe it would throw her into a tailspin, like you are experiencing now. I am not taking that chance. It is not just about you.”
Phoenix: She gave him a rather stern look. "I want to know because it's relevant to you not liking my husband. I don't really talk to people about past relationships because it's tacky as ****." She clung to her cushion and waited for a name.
Doc: "I am not telling you." Then he used her words against her, "Talking about past relationships is tacky as ****." He gave her an even look.
Phoenix: By the look in her eyes, he may as well have slapped her. She flinched away, tightening her grip on the pillow and pressing her lips into a thin line. After a moment of silent grinding her teeth, she mumbled. "I don't understand why it was a strike, not a warning like everyone else gets the first time."
Doc: "Probably because you have been through this so many times before.. you should not need a warning. You should know better." He gave her a look that tried to be understanding, by really came across more as confused, as though he didn't get why she didn't get this. "When Micah starts yelling, just shut the **** up. Remember everything he says.. but don't answer. Micah likes to bait .. and you take the bait ... every single time. ******* stop taking the bait Boo."
Phoenix: "Except I haven't... Since I've been back, I've been good. I haven't been confrontational, I haven't nit picked..." she sighed, giving a shrug. "I've been trying to be pleasant and non problematic... and they treated me like I'm the same person I used to be... and I'm not."
Doc: "It takes time Boo. And .. " He knew she would not like what he was about to say.. but for her continued growth he needed too. "You have probably set yourself back. You have been doing remarkably well. You have shown great restraint, in regard to Lia. I have seen it. I know that Ari, Vel and Micah have all seen it. But you still have temper tantrums." He thought back to the night Phoenix got her full membership back. "And that is what they are.. temper tantrums, like a small child would have."
Phoenix: She gave him a long, measured look, jaw set. When she spoke, her voice was icy. "I'm sorry I'm not perfect. I haven't had a temper tantrum in ages. Certainly not over this - don't you dare call me being misunderstood aa ******* temper tantrum."
Doc: "I wasn't talking about this event Boo. And I know you aren't perfect. No one is ******* perfect. In fact most of us are ******* dysfunctional." He sighed, "To succeed in this world, we have to learn how to use our dysfunctions to our own advantage. It may not be something we can learn overnight. It will probably take a while. But we need to be in a state of constant learning. When we stop trying to learn, we are going to get passed by.. or worse.."
Phoenix: Shifting, she tucked her legs under herself and loosed her grip on the cushion, if only a bit. Even though she still felt miserable, it wasn't nearly as bad as it had been. "I... just don't understand why the strike was necessary when a warning would have sufficed. I'm never going to. And that's why this feels so shitty... It's not that it's discipline, it's that it's a second level disciplinary action when I never even got a first. When Vel knows it wasn't even meant to be contentious... that's not fair."
Doc: "Baby.. life isn't fair." he shook his head. "I would love to be able to tell you .. 'oh.. it wasn't fair.. let's go fix it. 'Vel that wasn't fair.' Vel says 'Oh dear.. so sorry, it's undone!.' " He sighed. "It doesn't work that way. You have learned a lesson. Stay the **** away from Micah. He will bait you.. for hell of it. And if you rise to the bait.. you will lose." He put an arm around her shoulders, "It's alright to feel shitty. When I feel that .. someone usually dies. It lets me get my aggression out."
Phoenix: She let herself fall against him, a soft sigh escaping her lips. "The only reason Micah's a leader is because he's ******* Vel. He doesn't deserve the responsibility. He can't handle it. He can't keep his temper in check and he doesn't have the temperament to lead... anything." There. She'd said it, and it felt damn good. It's what she'd felt since she'd joined Ty the first time around, though she'd hoped, then, that he'd grow into the position. Instead, he'd grown into more of an asshole..
Doc: "So now you see this. Now you are better armed for the future. When issues arise, go to Vel, or suck it up." He played with her hair, "Not everyone handles leadership well. I can't really speak on the matter of leading. Every time I have been given the role to lead, there was a book of standards, or procedures already in place, and it was me quoting that ****." He paused, "Being a vampire didn't come with a manual. We are all pretty much winging it. But we have to continue to learn adapt and adjust. Things wont be fair. It's life."
Phoenix: She'd kind of expected him to be upset. Instead he seemed to get it. She blinked and tucked herself in closer, exchanging the cushion for his other arm and hugging it despite the awkward angle. Of course she knew he wasn't fond of the clinging, but that didn't matter. She was upset. "No, it didn't... but neither did being a human. Neither did being a friend... he's just... cruel. I was willing to look past it because I thought he was my friend, because deep down, I thought he cared. But he doesn't... and that hurts."
Doc: "Plus men are ******* bastards." He stiffened slightly, then forced himself to relax. "Let's look at it like this.. It's not like you had drinks with him, and watch the game with him every week.. and now thats gone. Or the two of you went hunting together.. What did you two actually do together.. trade barbs." He rolled his eyes, "You are really going to miss that. I can see why you are so upset.. " His voice was dry. "Please Boo. You aren't really losing that much are you?"
Phoenix: She frowned and then shook her head slowly. "I don't think you understand... He used to care about me and it used to be obvious... Before I joined Ty, he'd adopted me into his family - Volkov at the time. I didn't have anyone else, but he was always there for me. We used to hang out a lot... I even had a massive stupid little kid crush on him at one point. We were closer than it ever showed..."
\
Doc: "I am sorry Boo. People change. I know I have changed compared to what I was at a human. I get angry quicker. I never used to. I could take the rudeness and ridicule from the coworkers, and let it slide right away. Now.. it's not so easy. I think there is more going on with the change into what I am now, than I first realized. It seems my bad qualities are more amplified, and my good ones, are fading. Something to think about."
Phoenix: "But you found me, so your lack of good qualities is amply made up for." She gave a nod and even managed a smile, weak as it was. "I worry that I disappoint you, though..."
Doc: "Look.. don't worry about that. Just be yourself. I don't want to get to know, the person who is worried all the time. I want to get to know my daughter. Alright?"
Phoenix: She gave him a look, one that said she didn't quite believe what he was saying. Perhaps because she wasn't sure where to tease apart her and the worry-wart she'd become. "I'll... try. Deal?"
Doc: Doc leaned back to look at her, his face was serious, "That is all I have ever is asked.. is for you to try. I do not want you to be any one other than who you are. Can we all improve who we are? Yes. We can, myself included. You might say we are all 'works in progress'. I do not expect results overnight. It is the little milestones that we make.. that tell the mettle of us. As long as we pushing forward.. we are growing and trying." He hoped that made sense.
Phoenix: Listening, she gave a few quick nods before settling in against his side. There was nothing for her to add - she understood, and so she remained silent, thoughts bouncing from one idea to the next without rhyme or reason. For a while, she let the silence creep on, until... "Dad... We should play Mario Kart some day..."
Doc: "What is that?" He envisioned going to a 'play zone' area, and driving a racing style go cart. That actually appealed to him. He always wanted to do that. But until he had most information, he wasn't agreeing to ****. For all he knew he would be stuck in some amusement park in a log, having his photo made with a bunch of strangers.
Phoenix: "It's a video game where you race the other players - the little avatars are Super Mario characters... One of them's a little ghost called Boo." Maybe he'd understand it, then. "You can be Doctor Mario." The thought made her grin despite her mood.
Doc: "I tried to play video games with the Mouth.. one. she kicked my ***. That wasn't fun. Two. She made sure everyone knew she kicked my ***. That wasn't fun. Three. I didn't understand the point of the game." He paused. "I will try.. I can't promise that I will be proficient."
Phoenix: "What's the Mouth?" She blinked at him, imagining something very much unattractive. "Mario Kart is straightforward. You race to the finish line... in a little go-kart. And try to **** with your opponents as much as possible. It's actually kind of fun."
Doc: "Tameka.. She was loud and annoying.. I called her Meka the Mouth.." He cringed. "She was heinous.. don't know what happened to her.. don't really care. No all the way around.."
Phoenix: "She probably died. I hope she died." She scowled at the mention of Tameka. That ***** was a massive *****. "Can I stay... here... tonight? Sleep on the couch or something?"
Doc: He silently nodded in agreement with Phoenix in her assessment of the Mouth. "Of course you can, you can even have the bed.. I sleep on a sofa a lot.. life of a surgeon. We get comfortable anywhere.."
Phoenix: Clearly, this explained his attraction to Mortll, but she wouldn't say that aloud. She'd made a promise and intended to keep her word. "You sure you don't mind? I won't bother you..."
Doc: "No it's not a bother, I was probably going to end up on the sofa anyway." He pointed to a book he had been reading. "I read until I feel sleepy.. and I sleep.."
Phoenix: Well... that made sense. With a sigh, she uncurled herself from his side and, with great effort, managed to drag herself to her feet. She knew the hut layout well enough to figure out where the bedroom was. As she shuffled off, she glanced back over her shoulder. "Dad... Thank you."
Doc: Doc looked at her, "You're welcome.. I hope I helped." He did. Then he picked up his book and resumed reading where he left off when she had yelled into his head.
Phoenix: She nodded. "You did." And then made her way to the bed, crawled under the covers. Curling up in the dead center of the bed, she wrapped her slender frame around a pillow and tried to sleep.

Phoenix: [t] Dad, where you at?
Doc: *text* Behind the preposition 'at'.
Phoenix: [t] Where are you?
Doc: *text* Eyrie.
Phoenix: [t] Can you summon me?
Doc: *text* Yes.
Phoenix: Instead of replying, she just waited, screwing her eyes shut.
Doc: *Looks at her.* So what's up?
Phoenix: She frowned, glancing around for the first suitable surface and occupying it. If anything, she looked sad. "I... feel like I'm being blamed for something that isn't my fault. And I can't fix it."
Doc: *He looked at her evenly.* "And you are sure you are not to blame?" He held up a hand, "Not casting judgment, asking, for you to think on the circumstances in a different light and see if you still feel the same."
Phoenix: She nodded, 100% certain. "I know I'm not. Things between Blake and Andras have been... rocky for a while. He doesn't really feel like he fits in there, so Vel wants him to speak up more. Then when he does, drama happens. Anyway, he asked if I could join the family board, and Vel and Micah said no. I don't really care, but he does. It was like the straw that broke the camel's back, sort of... He left Andras because of all that, but Vel blames me. She thinks I've been manipulating him. I haven't - I know I haven't. Even after Vel came to throw the accusation at me, I was trying to get them to work together. I was trying to get them to stop arguing and she just ended up accusing me of doing nothing on Blake's end - not trying to get him to stay or reconsider - but that's what I'd been doing the whole time." Pausing, she reached up and tugged at a strand of her hair until it snapped. "I don't know how to fix it."
Doc: *He calmly reached over and pulled her hand from her hair, and held it.* "This particular case, is not for you to fix. I know you want to. But you have to stay out of it. Blake is a big boy. He can make his own decisions. He is the one to decide whether he wants to amend things with Vel.. not you. If you try to fix it.. and fail, you will be seen as the meddling and manipulative wife. Vel accused you, you did not do what she accused you of, therefore, you need to stay out of it. The best thing you can do at this point, is to support your husband."
Phoenix: She watched him for a moment before giving a slow, careful nod, squeezing his hand. "I know that, but I hate seeing them fight. I hate being blamed for something that isn't my fault and I feel like she's using me as a scapegoat so she doesn't have to even consider that maybe she's been creating a situation that's unpleasant for him. I'm just... hurt that she'd say that..."
Doc: "You know as well as I, they both have very strong personalities. It is not easy for either of them to back down, or admit they may be wrong. This is another reason, they have to work this out between themselves. Just the two of them. Anyone else in the mix.. just muddies the waters that much more." He paused. "And yes, your feelings are hurt. They should be hurt. But you are strong enough to forgive her, because you know how they both are. Forgive does not mean, you let them walk over you. It means, you let it go, and do not allow it to fester."
Phoenix: "That's... what I planned to do. I don't want to meddle with it, but at the same time, I feel like Vel wants me to make him reconsider. I'm not Blake's keeper; I can't make him do anything he doesn't want to do, and the fact that she thinks I could even manipulate him kind of bothers me... he's smarter than that."
Doc: "When she asks you again, be kind. Be gentle and tell her, "I love you both.. but you two have to work this out on your own, or you both will always have issues." You would be doing it for both their own good. If she continues to pressure you. Suggest the two of them seek mediation with a third party.. NOT you."
Phoenix: She arched a brow at the last bit, but nodded anyway. "I'll suggest you."
Doc: "Actually I am related to you.. so I would not be my first suggestion. I would suggest Ariadne.. who is not related to either of them."
Phoenix: "Ari dislikes Blake, though, so she'd be a poor choice as well. Micah's out of the question. Even though you're related to me, you've also dug around in my brain, so you can at least be impartial."
Doc: "The fact Ari dislikes Blake.. is an option for Vel or Blake to decide. Offer us both. But I will be honest, I would prefer it to be Ari. A father-in-law, should not be put in a position to see his son-in-law in a bad light. Don't you agree?"
Phoenix: "Hah, I knew you'd warm up to him! Maybe someone else would be a better choice. Maybe Remi."
Doc: He was about to tell her she wrong, but then he saw the merits of letting her believe this false idea. "Perhaps. I do not know Remington that well.. " though Doc did know he had a penchant for bunny masks; however that thought aside, Vel did trust him about her sister.. "Yes I think Remington would be an excellent choice."
Phoenix: She nodded. "I'll suggest that if it comes up again. Thanks dad. I... don't feel better; I still feel very, very shitty, but... I want them to be happy."
Doc: He frowned. It was all very simple. She was not to blame. She knows this. He knows this. Why does she still feel shitty? "There is no reason for you feel this way. You did nothing wrong." He looked at her. "It is their issue, Not yours. Say it."
Phoenix: "It's their issue, not mine, but I care about them both. I don't like seeing my friend and my partner hurting... even if she doesn't really feel much like my friend right now."
Doc: "No. You are justifying. Stop justifying. It is not your issue. You need to be the voice of reason. You cannot be the voice of reason, if you are wallowing in emotions yourself."
Phoenix: He had a point there, and for a moment, she blinked at him like a deer in headlights. "Okay. No emotions. Got it."
Doc: "Good." and then as if flipping a switch, "Anything else new?"
Phoenix: "Not really, but that's not a bad thing. I'm a content little poppet, aside from this new retardation... Hubs is good to me."
Doc: He nodded, 'This is good.. " He wasn't exactly pleased about what he was about to say.. but if shes happy, "I am glad is he making you happy." He would much rather Blake hurry up and **** her over..
Phoenix: Oblivious to his true feelings, she beamed and slipped out of the chair to close the distance between them. Her arms wrapped around him and she squeezed tight. "I'm glad you're starting to accept him."
Doc: He grumble growled as he patted her on her back for a few seconds before he started feel claustrophobic. "Alright.. " he patted harder hoping she would get the hint.
Phoenix: Of course she took the hint and released before reclaiming her seat. "What've you been up to?"
Doc: "Buying an insane asylum..."
Phoenix: "Well yes, I knew about that. The nuns haven't committed you yet?"
Doc: "They can try.. but they cannot hold me.. " He smiled. "And if they do.. I will bury them in the basement.."

Phoenix: [t] Citadel. I can summon you.
Doc: *Text* alright..
Phoenix: Closing her eyes, she flopped back onto the couch and summoned him.
Doc: He coalesced in the Citadel, by the sofa "I'm sorry Boo. I don't know what to tell you."
Phoenix: "I don't know either... I'm just... hurt..."
Doc: *he moved to sit on the sofa beside her. He just opened his arms*
Phoenix: She inched over and wrapped her arms around him, squeezing tightly. "Tell me a story?"
Doc: His hugged tightened more in frustration than in trying to give sympathy. He counted. "I don't know any stories... "
Phoenix: "You don't need to know a story to tell one. Just tell me something you remember making you happy... or something..."
Doc: "mmm..." He thought and thought some more. "The other day.. I was late getting from the Lab to the asylum.. but, I managed to hit all the lights green. And therefore I ended up only five minutes late, instead fifteen."
Phoenix: She blinked at him curiously; she'd kind of expected more of a story, but she'd accept what she was given. "That's very good. What were you doing at the asylum?"
Doc: "Checking on the inmates. Standards require a Physician look in on them daily." He paused, "And Until I know if the Nuns will work out.. I need to keep a close eye."
Phoenix: "How can nuns not work out. Aren't they like... saintly?"
Doc: "You obviously have not met these nuns. Sadist would be my definition of them. They seem to enjoy depriving the inmate of things that the Nun consider wanton luxuries... like sheets."
Phoenix: She blinked at him curiously, "How are... sheets... a wanton luxury? Don't they keep things and people warm when it's cold?"
Doc: "The inmates have a wool blanket. Horrid scratchy things..."
Phoenix: "I'd want sheets too; that's just cruel!"
Doc: *nods somewhat apathetically* "I have managed to get the nuns to agree to allow them sheets for good behavior."
Phoenix: She frowned; as an inmate there, she likely would never get sheets. Ever. "What other things are they considering... wanton luxuries? Two-ply toilet paper?"
Doc: "You know.. I haven't looked.. but I would hazard a guess you are correct."
Phoenix: She gasped, as if this were one of the most horrendous things in the world. "No wonder nuns are so uptight... so much chafing."
Doc: "That would explain some of it... They also make the worst bread you have ever tasted."
Phoenix: "You ate nunbread before you were turned?"
Doc: "No I ate good bread. The stuff i have seen them serve wouldn't be described as a horrible cracker. It crumbles to dust when squeezed."
Phoenix: "That's... ew. That's really ew..." she sighed, resting her head against his shoulder.

Phoenix: "I've always flown under the radar... except for people thinking there was something wrong with me." She paused, frowning faintly. "I don't like the looks I still get sometimes."

Phoenix: A faint smile graced her lips as she pressed a kiss to his cheek. "People always underestimate me because I look sickly... I'm not, though. And... I never gave you that present."
Doc: "Ah.. yes.." He hid his frown. He had thought that was a ruse. It appears he was wrong. Again.
Phoenix: "It's... not really a thing..." she frowned, obviously hesitant. "It's an experience..."
Doc: "An.. Experience?" ****.
Phoenix: "Well... you said you were sad you never got to watch your daughter grow up. I was thinking you might like to meet mini... me..."

Phoenix: When she didn't get a reply, she frowned. [t] I still have a gift for you…

Phoenix: "Ari dislikes Blake, though, so she'd be a poor choice as well. Micah's out of the question. Even though you're related to me, you've also dug around in my brain, so you can at least be impartial."

Doc: *text* And you gave me an egg
Phoenix: [t] I can't believe you never opened it.
Doc: *text* Do not wish to ruin it.
Phoenix: [t] I know. It's sweet
Doc: *text* I have not tasted it, no intentions on it either, unless you mean the design and implementation of it, and in that case I would say it is adequate.
Phoenix: [t] Yes, I know. It makes me happy that you like it.
Doc: *Text* Good.
Phoenix: [t] Good dadman.

Phoenix: [t] Daddly One, d'you have oils?
Doc: *text* No I do not. However I have a plethora of wire reels..
Phoenix: [t] Those won't help me fend off the fae.
Doc: *text* I hate those little bastards.
Phoenix: [t] Agreed. I suppose the wire could be useful for other... things…
Doc: *text* I will hand them off next time I see you.
Phoenix: [t] Thank you for encouraging my kink.
Doc: *text* Not a problem, I have Kinks of my own.
Phoenix: [t] We disturb me. Just so you know.
Doc: *text* You will get used to used to it, and come to enjoy it eventually.
Phoenix: [t] Like you do?
Doc: *text* Yes. Exactly.
Phoenix: [t] You're such a sweetheart when you want to be.
Doc: *text* I'm always a sweetheart.
Phoenix: [t] Liar
Doc: *text* Tease.
Phoenix: [t] Oh honey, you have no idea.
Doc: *Text* I probably do not.
Phoenix: [t] You know... I'm kind of proud I inherited your perversion.
Doc: *text* Good. It will make it easier in the long run.
Phoenix: [t] Make what easier?
Doc: *text* Everything. I would much rather you be proud than disappointed.
Phoenix: [t] This might sound kind of bitchy, but I've gotten used to the idea of being your spawn - even though it's not what I would have wanted if I got to choose, I'm happy and I love you for who you are. Usually.
Doc: *Text* Thank you. *He would usually to make a caustic reply, but he was in a fairly good mood, thanks to Mortll, so he left it at that.*
Phoenix: *Had expected a caustic reply.* [t] That was your queue to say that you're happy to have me, too, even if you wouldn't have picked me.
Doc: *text* I am happy to have you too.. even if I would not have picked you.
Phoenix: [t] You could also have said you would have picked me. >.>
Doc: *text* True. I could have.

Doc: *text* That is not a decision I can make for you.
Phoenix: [t] I'm asking you to advise me.
Doc: *text* then my advice is not to react in haste. You wanted this for a long time. Not everything is perfect all the time.
Phoenix: [t] I did, but what's the point if I'm going to be made to feel unwanted when I didn't even do anything?
Doc: *Text* The only thing that has changed.. is that this time you are in the faction. You weren't wanted before. You waited it out.
Phoenix: [t] But I'd actually done something to warrant it then.
Doc: *text* Perhaps its who you are married to?
Phoenix: [t] It's not Blake.
Phoenix: [t] Even if it was, I'm not him. I'm me.
Doc: *text* Sounds like to me, you have made your mind up.
Phoenix: [t] Pointing out it's not Blake's fault means I've made up my mind?
Doc: *text* There was no.. 'perhaps.. but i doubt it.' there was just "No. its not him."..
Phoenix: [t] He hasn't done anything either that I know of, so... that wouldn't make sense.
Doc: *text* Unless he's lied to you. He's lied before .. he will lie again.
Phoenix: [t] People don't hate you because of Mortll.
Doc: *Text* I am definitely treated differently.
Phoenix: [t] Then maybe you have a point. That doesn't help me solve my problems, though.
Doc: *text* No. None of the hardest problems are easy. But the decision you make about this.. will be something you come back to. For good or bad. What ever decision you do make. You have to give yourself a break. And say, "I make the decision, I will not let myself live in regret. I will embrace the decision."
Phoenix: [t] That doesn't help either. You're supposed to help me figure out what the **** is going on so I can make an informed decision.
Doc: *text* Boo. I don't know what is going on.
Phoenix: [t] You should check my memories.
Doc: *Text* Not in my power.
Doc: *text* Well.. it is obvious I am not in the know.. And that means I am not in a position to know how to advise you.
Phoenix: [t] Helpful, dad.
Doc: *Texts her a photo. He learned a skill*
Doc: *text*
Phoenix: [t] I was saving this for Father's Day, but...
Doc: He grins *text* *****.
Doc: *text* How do I Print that? I want to put it on my incinerator…
Phoenix: [t] ... lol. Nice autocorrect.
Doc: *Text* I spelled it correctly.
Phoenix: [t] Refrigerator*
Doc: *Text* I use the incinerator.
Phoenix: [t] ... That's... Email the picture to yourself and then print it from the computer.
Doc: *text* Thanks Boo
Phoenix: [t] Pro tip: never tell anyone about the incinerator.
Doc: *Text* Every lab should have an incinerator. How else does one get rid of medical waste responsibly? Yes. it is more expensive. But I care about the future of our world.
Phoenix: [t] Oh honey... normally parents put their children's things on the refrigerator... mainly because they spend more time near that than an incinerator. Most people.
Phoenix: [t] I'm going to have to make you a really creative card for Father's Day now…
Doc: *Text* Good i will look forward to it.
Phoenix: [t] How would this one go over? "Even though I replaced you with Blake and you're jealous about it, I still love you. He's also better in bed. Happy Father's Day!"
Doc: *text* I would ******* frame it, and tell people you're from West Virginia.. where sex with Daddy is expected.

Phoenix: [t] Dad. My dog died. I need emotional support.
Doc: *Text* You told me you didn't like live things.
Doc: *looks thru 'adopt-a-pet' websites*
Phoenix: [t] But that one was my living thing.
Phoenix: [t] I still have Tony, though.
Doc: *text* Tony?
Phoenix: [t] Dirty Cottonball. Tony for shortsies
Doc: *It seems it is the perfect time for adopting pets. Has one picked out already.* Text* Are you at the Citadel?
Phoenix: [t] Yeah... Why?
Doc: *text* You said you needed emotional support? I thought that meant a hug. ******** females changing the rules all the god damn time*
Phoenix: [t] I'll summon you.
Phoenix: Without waiting for a reply, the redhead did just that.
Doc: I could use a little bit more ...*gives her a look* notice.. *he still have a pen in his hand as though he had been writing something.*
Phoenix: She eyed him suspiciously. "Why do you need notice to come give me a hug? Don't you dare get me another pet, Father."
Doc: *opens his arms and gives her an ever so innocent smile* A Pet? Heavens no.. not me.
Phoenix: Stepping over, she wrapped her arms around him and squeezed just a bit too tightly. "Are you lying to me?"
Doc: Probably.. *the word squeezed out, so he squeezed her just as tightly * But you wont mind would you…
Phoenix: "Daaaaaad," she whined, releasing the pressure to pout at him, even though she knew it'd be about as effective as a throwing a kiwi at him. "No pets."
Doc: *he rubbed the back of her head* No Pets.. *sighed*
Phoenix: "Good man." She paused. "Pea got hit by a truck..."
Doc: *he nodded, not in agreement that he wasn't going to get her a pet, but in that, her was a good man* I am sorry. *and Cats .. well they were never pets.. they were too independent to be pets, they were companions. Yes. He would not get her a 'pet'*
Phoenix: "It was horrible... bits and pieces of Pea everywhere. It wasn't like... a truck-truck, it was one of those long haul things..." she sniffed.
Doc: *He pressed his lips together. No animal should die so violently. He squeezed her again*
Phoenix: "I think she was chasing a deer," she mumbled. "I shouldn't have let her off the leash..."
Doc: *He never knew what to say at times like this. But he tried in his awkward way.* If it was a Semi, She never felt a thing. So she died doing what she loved.."
Phoenix: "She died being a dickhead to wildlife," she grumbled, resuming the hug before clearing her throat. "What've you been up to?"
Doc: "Work." It was true. "Hired a security guard for the Asylum.. and **** me if she isn't a redhead.." Should he tell her? He couldn't remember her name though.
Phoenix: "Ginger's have souls. How're the nuns settling in?"
Doc: "Complete and total pains in my ***. But I told Jane she could belt them if they got out of line.."
Phoenix: "Kinky. Has she belted them yet?"
Doc: "Not to my knowledge. I presume the first thing the Penguins will do when it happens is to run to me.."
Phoenix: It took her a second to realize by 'Penguins' he meant nuns. And then she laughed. "Hah. I still want to commit you for a week or so."
Doc: "The only way you are going to commit me.. is if you send me to the SR.. and you do not want to do that.."
Doc: "Well not if you ever want me to speak to you again."
Phoenix: "Why would I kill you!? I wouldn't do that, daddles." She huffed at him, wandering over to flop across the couch.
Doc: He shrugged, "Most females get to that point sooner or later.. look at the ball and chain.. she tried.."
Phoenix: "We're not *******," she pointed out.
Doc: He lifted an eyebrow, and quirked a half smile, "Good point!"
Phoenix: "How often do people who don't want to sleep with you want to kill you?"
Doc: He canted his head briefly as he mentally made the tally, "About fifty fifty.." a single nod. "I am actually improving."
Phoenix: "What was the old ratio?" she asked, turning to look him over.
Doc: "when I was Human.. seventy thirty. The other doctors, especially surgeons, hated me. You know.. one of them even tampered with my car. I watched him. At the time I thought he was ******* with the ignition or some ****. So I went and cut his break lines. Then After I was sure he was gone I checked out my car. He glued the volume control on my radio, so it was stuck on high and in the on position."
Phoenix: "You cut some guy's brakes in retaliation for gluing your radio?" she arched a brow at him. Why she was surprised, though, she couldn't say. "That's evil."
Doc: He shrugged carelessly. "He shouldn't have fucked with me."
Phoenix: "Why do you like getting people pets? Don't sociopaths generally kill animals?"
Doc: "I have often wondered that too. But then when my father killed my pets in retaliation to hitting me, I think that made me realize there was no true sport in killing a pet. It wouldn't run or defend itself. So what was the point, except to hurt me." He shrugged again, "People however will run, they will defend themselves and give you an element of sport. Some more than others."
Phoenix: She frowned, patting the little bit of couch she wasn't occupying. Half of what he said was sad, and the other was highly disturbing, but she chose to focus on the former. "C'mere daddles. You need a hug."
Doc: He frowned, "Wait.. why do I need a hug?" He really did not get the leap from him explaining why pets weren't a sport to him needing a hug. "I don't need hug." He subconsciously straightened tie, as though the mere thought of a hug caused it to go askew.
Phoenix: "You need a hug," she repeated. "C'mere and get your damn hug. I'll feel better."
Doc: *He grumped silently, and moved over to the sofa. He sat beside her and braced himself for a hug. One which he felt was completely unwarranted.* I want it on the record that I am acquiescing for your benefit alone.
Phoenix: She didn't hug him, "Dad... Admit that you need a hug. Has anyone ever told you that your dad being a dick wasn't your fault?"
Doc: "No one needed to tell me that.. I know what. I have known that. Why do you think I ******* hate him?"
Phoenix: Instead of replying right away, she hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry they screwed you for life."
Doc: *He patted her weakly* "I am not screwed for life."
Phoenix: "You're not normal, either."
Doc: "I'm better than normal." He believed it too.
Phoenix: She smushed her face against the back of his shoulder. "Why do you think that?"
Doc: "Because.. I am. I cry when a female dumps me. I don't get drunk when things don't go my way. I am proactive."
Phoenix: She arched a brow at him, "You cry when you get dumped? Really?" She obviously didn't believe him.
Doc: "Of course.. I am the epitome of all things feeling.. "
Phoenix: "Dad... Are you lying to me?"
Doc: He snorted, "You have to ask? Of course I am.."
Phoenix: "I expect honesty, damn it! Have you ever cried? Like... as an adult?"
Doc: "I've whined.. usually in connection with having to do something abhorrent to make a female happy, does that count.. ?"
Phoenix: "No," she grumbled, biting his shoulder. Maybe that'd make him cry. "But I suppose that means you didn't cry when you found out about me..."
Doc: "OW!.." He turned and thumped her, "No I didn't cry. I will admit I was ******* annoyed. But then I thought about it, I always wanted a child. A female especially. Granted, I would have preferred to being there in the formative years.. but again, on reflection, You are better off for that not happening."
Phoenix: Aside from the thump, she grinned. "Aww, thanks. That was almost affectionate... now... lets take it a step up. Tell me you love me?"
Doc: "What the ****..." He sighed in an exasperated manner. "You just told me to be honest to you and now you say lie to you.. would you make up your mind?!" He grumbled and muttered "your ******* mother was the same way.. said one thing .. wanted another..god she got on my ******* nerves..."
Phoenix: She was about to snap back with a retort when what he said clicked. Instead, she grabbed him by the shoulders and shook him. "You said you didn't know who she was!"
Doc: *****! He sighed and rubbed his forehead, eyes squinted shut.* "I Don't!.. That security guard.. made me remember her. Still cannot recall her name. But she was a ******* redhead. And she could NOT take the word no! Had to **** her just to shut her the hell up!"
Phoenix: "You gave my mom a shut-the-hell-up baby!" she gasped, shaking her head as she swatted at him. "Remember her name!"
Doc: "She was loud and obnoxious.. and I spent two ******* years PURPOSELY forgetting her name!" He rolled his eyes, "Every ******* frat party.. they would say 'where's your woman!' because they knew it pissed me the hell off. And they knew it was the only way to get to me. I still think they set the whole thing up, because I aced the tests they failed.. ******* losers.. " His tone was decidedly sullen.
Phoenix: "So why'd they pick Marie?" she asked, hoping to get him to correct her. Marie seemed like an annoying enough name for someone who could possibly be her mother.
Doc: "I do not remember her name!" He uttered in an vehement tone. "And they picked her because she was ******* obsessive!"
Phoenix: She frowned, flopping back down sadly. "Is that why you dislike me? I can be obsessive, too..."
Doc: "I never said I disliked you. God.. you are so much like her, stop it!"
Phoenix: "Then fill in the blank. 'Phoenix, I BLANK you.'" She stared at him expectantly.
Doc: "Appreciate."
Phoenix: "Appreciate is... a... decent... word..." said horribly grudgingly.
Doc: "And I do appreciate you."
Phoenix: "In what sense?"
Doc: "In the sense that you are a capable spawn." He gave her a look like, what else would I mean.
Phoenix: She smiled, fluttering her lashes at him. "Good. Thanks for coming by, dad." Not that she'd given him a choice.
Doc: *He patted her again, mostly because he thought he was supposed.* Then I will be off. *She was smiling that was a good thing.*
Phoenix: "Alright. Take care, old dude. Love you."
Doc: *'Old dude'? Say nothing.. just smile, nod and leave* *He smiled nodded, and read his tome*

Sits down on toilet seat and begins chattering while checking out what is decorating the top of the water tank.
Doc: Doc turns about startled to see and hear Minx, "What are you doing?! Showering here.." Yanks the shower shut. "******* females.. never will understand them.. never."
Dominique:"You ever think to use those 1000 Flushes?" Doesn't wait for an answer and lifts up the top to the tank and peeks in. Stands up and lifts toilet lid and is disappointed that the water is clear and not that pretty blue."Nope. You should ."
Dominique: "Oh **** you. You love females. They love you and yadda yadda yadda." Opens up the cabinet drawer under the vanity. "Cyth have any nail files around?"
Doc: "You're not leaving are you?" He knew she wasnt, "What do you need..? Money? Car.. that is what is ..isn't it.. you want one of my cars.. take the Panamera..keys are in the nightstand.. " he pauses "nail files?'Bedroom vanity thing.. of Cyths..."
Dominique:She sighed and sat back down. It was too far to go to get. That meant leaving him and things could happen if she did. He taught her that more than anyone had. No, she couldn't do that. When she set her mind to something she wouldn't be set off course. "Nevermind it can wait."
Doc: Doc sighed and stuck his head under the water. Things have not been right since he had gotten back from Europe. "Towel."
Dominique:HOPE slips through the curtain as she looks the other way then up at the ceiling."Towel." She announces as dryly as an OR nurse would handing the scalpel she was asked for. Truth be told she wondered what the **** compelled her to be sitting on her sire’s toilet seat handing him a damn towel when she never handed any dude a towel in her life.
Doc: Turning off the tap and grabbing the towel, he steps out of the shower drying his hair with the towel. He moves to the sinks and starts to lather his face in order to shave. "So .. Minxie.. what do you need.. " He needed to shave .. but no reflection.. which is why he always appeared scruffy.

Re: As the Spawns Spit, Spew and Sputter
Dominique: Dominique was beginning to wonder herself. In fact maybe he could help with that. She looked at him and then the empty mirror void of a reflection. "You should start on the left and work your way back around to the right." She looks down at her toes and realizes she should probably stop at the salon that is open late. It is the one that has the nail technician that buys her story of having circulation issues and thus the cold skin. "Why the hell I am sitting here is beyond me. It is like I woke up and suddenly give a huge **** if you are okay and not too far away or something. It's really getting me creeped out to be honest."
Doc: "You have my permission to leave .. and .. should the urge happen again.. I think a text would suffice." Decides to shave her way. "You know .. you could be useful.. and shave me.." He was being facetious.. he didn't really expect her to shave him. "I have been thinking of growing a beard.. but no ******* mirror image.. hard as **** to keep it trimmed properly."
Dominique: Her brow raised and her head cocked like it always did when her lips didn't say 'what-the-actual-****' but her mind did. Yeah, he was fine and she was satisfied. If she stayed in the room in any longer with him naked and offering up a razor blade for her use he may not be. She and her curse she seems to have woke up with were going to head on out the door. She was going to stop by the corner store and check in on Gertrude. Maybe the woman was a witch and this all had something to do with her. Halloween had them crossing paths in the oddest ways. "Thanks but I got things I got to do. Buy some q-tips, pull some weeds, cut a few coupons and, oh yeah, see a guy with a stick up his *** across the road from my farm. Maybe another time." She stood up and went behind him and stepped out in the doorway looking over her shoulder. "By the way...manscaping could be a good thing. Just saying." She finds her way out.
Doc: ******* Females. *sighs*

Re: As the Spawns Spit, Spew and Sputter
--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Kaelyn: [T] We're supposed to have a sleepover tonight. Papi's orders.
Dominique: [T] Fine. I need to check in on him anyways. For the life of me I don't get why but it seems to be a thing now.
Kaelyn:: [t] What's a thing? He's fine. He is going to get laid tonight, so I can't stay with him.
Kaelyn:: [t] That means sex right?
Dominique:[T] Well to most people but to him who the hell knows. Sort of hard imagining him getting laid by anyone but I suppose there is always a miracle in the works.
Kaelyn:: [t] His ball and chain. Cytherea!
Kaelyn:: [t] He says I need to come over now...where are you? Sorry if I'm imposing.
Dominique:[T] I am on my way to the shop. We can camp out and I will give you a tattoo.
Kaelyn:: [t] What shop? You can't give me a tattoo...I only have one...just got it. Jesse did it
Dominique:[T] Fine then you can get a piercing or if you don't want that then you can pick out some icecream and watch movies. I shouldn't be too much longer cleaning up the shop.
Dominique:[T]Honeymead Market. Go in and up on the right side to Twisted Sister Custom and Design. Step inside and the stairs are right there to your north. Climb up and you will see me. Interested in cycles or custom cars check out the showroom below first.
Kaelyn:: *made her way there, getting lost on the way. Somehow she ended up at Vita...she hadn't been there in a long time. Either way she tomed back home again, went back to larch then to bullwood and then to honeymead and back to the market once again. Finally! She found her way upstairs and saw the woman* Hi!!! *The cutesy bubbly girl bounced in and over to the other who she'd only met once or twice before* Made it!
Dominique: Smiled at the arrival of what would be in most circumstances a relation given that her sister was married to Kaelyn's sire. But breaking it down like that wasn't so simple in the vampiric terms so they had a bond of some form that linked them. That and she had sleep overs with Doc whom she was starting to wonder about once again. It was getting old. Really old and really quick. "You found the place." She set down the cash drawer and pulled the register tape out of the books. "So, how have you been?"
Kaelyn:: *found a seat, most likely one that they used for tattooing in and what not and plopped down. She watched the woman as she worked with the cash register. Fingers tug at her curls some* I've been good...really really good. I looked at the cars downstairs. Were any of them at the car show? I don't remember seeing them.
Dominique: Dominique nodded to the ice cream freezer against the wall. “Help yourself.” Her eyes followed her as she moved around while her hands rolled up the tape scrolling it slowly around her finger. “Yes. I have a car there. Need to pick it up actually.”
Kaelyn: Eyes glanced towards the ice cream freezer she had gestured to. Her head shook some. “No thank you. I avoid anything but blood for the most part. I can tolerate it..but I can’t taste it so I don’t see the point. It’s just like putting mushy or cold stuff in my mouth and...it’s not good anymore.” What exactly was she doing with the paper stuff? She tried to focus in on that, being nosey as usual. Teeth tugged at her bottom lip and she shrugged to herself. “My boyfriend has a car there. I saw some other cars I liked too!”

Re: As the Spawns Spit, Spew and Sputter
--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Dominique: It was not like she had been surprised by Kaelyn’s answer. Perhaps a few months ago things would have been different and she would have in the very least winced at the comment on blood. Now it was just as impressive as a human refusing a glass of water.
Dominique moved towards the freezer and slid open the top. For a shadow she had a few extra perks that many did not. Her healthy complexion was one, her ability to blend in with the human population she had been told was due to some mortal type aura she gave off was another. And until recently being fangless sort of completed the facade that she was no different than any other heavily tattooed female in the shop they were standing in.
A rocky road bar left the inside of the freezer with the help of her hand. HOPE and LESS tugged and pulled at the plastic wrapper while she walked back over to Kaelyn. “Cool. It was the first year having it so hopefully they will again next year. Was a pretty good turn out.” The crinkle of the wrapper breaking free was louder than she planned on and smiled while tearing it off. “Blood packs are in the back fridge in my office. I never use them so help yourself.”
Kaelyn: Her sire would make her strawberry shakes with infused blood. It was the only humanish food type thing that she would intake, willingly. The blood added flavor and made it worth it. Plus it was something special her sire liked to do for her. She watched her as she went to go get her own ice cream. It was something she missed. One of the things that was easy to go down while stuck in the hospital.
She looked over Dom’s form, checking out the tattoos that covered the visible skin. Almost every vampire she knew seemed to be covered in tattoos. What was up with everyone and them? They were really cool...but literally everyone had them. Hell she even had one now. And the one she had, she had plans of extending it across her back. She would fit in just fine soon enough.
Back to subject at hand. “What car was yours? Was it one of the classic ones? Or maybe one of the newer, really pretty shiny ones?” She particularly liked the newer pretty ones. Even planned on buying one. “Or maybe it was one of the bikes?” Motorcycles was another thing she wanted to get into. Papi told her absolutely not, but there’s no way she would follow that order. Her dad rode one, mom rode one...everyone rode one. She wanted to too.
Dominique: The chocolate covered marshmallows in her mouth slowly dissolved while she pulled up a seat and held it down with her backside. Kaelyn was refreshing. She was curious and her questions kept coming. It was nice to have someone to talk to and more importantly interested in general stuff. Not what she consumed that evening or how she got her hands on it. She swallowed what was in her mouth and licked her lips as the wrapper was pulled down more on the ice cream bar in her hands.
“See that black car downstairs?” She licked the tip of her finger where melting ice cream dripped. “I have two. One runs...which is the one in the show. The one downstairs is built here on site. So no engine and just a model for work that can be done.” She took another bite of the frozen bar and chewed the flavorless bite slowly watching her. Once that melted and disappeared she finally asked. “So, are you going to tell me about this boyfriend of yours.”

Re: As the Spawns Spit, Spew and Sputter
Kaelyn: Kaelyn chewed on her bottom lip, thinking, trying to recall all the cars at the show. She did remember one very similar to the one from downstairs. She thought it was one that Papi seemed to like, but wasn't positive. “I think I did see that one there.”
When Dominique asked about her boyfriend, she looked around a bit nervously. There was no way she could go into full detail about him. Heck, it had been hard enough to just talk to the very few that knew about him. No one approved of him completely. Doc however didn’t seem to mind it as much as the others though. Then again if she screwed up, it wouldn’t fall back on him...it’d most likely end up back on Victor or Jesse for siring her so young, or not teaching her. Which was bull. She knew exactly what she was getting herself into with her boyfriend. It was going to be hard, but totally worth it.
She anxiously started tugging at her curls, twisting them around her finger. “Umm...well...he’s different. But he’s pretty amazing! What exactly do you want to know? I’ll tell you what I can.” Her feet started swinging back and forth, kicking in the chair that she sat in. She didn’t really know Dom that well, but she was sorta kind of family...that meant she could kind of be trusted. But either way, she popped out a few texts real fast just to be sure how much she could say.
Dominique: The ice cream bar was finished and the wrapper was tossed into the garbage next to the stool she sat on. Her warm chocolate orbs stayed on Kaelyn while she seemed to melt into a vision of a school girl with her first crush. Her focus shifted to the golden curl in her fingers as it stretched then gave way. The scent of what she called sunshine came back to her. She smiled a little, her eyes still and fading as if she left her body briefly and went somewhere else. The soft tapping of fingers on a cell phone brought her back around.
“Does he make you happy?” She looked down at her hands as the rubbed them palm to palm before coming to rest on the tops of her thighs. “Because really in the end that should be the only thing that ever matters. And if he does…” She stood up and inhaled deep. “**** the rest of the world. I don’t need to know anything else beyond that.”
The shadow went back to the counter where she left the cash drawer out. Picking it up was easy work as well as placing it in the safe and closing it up. She looked back at the blonde who was still busy with her texting. She hoped she would never know anything beyond whatever it was that inspired her to smile like she did.
“So... care to watch a movie? What is it that you and Doc do on these nights you hang out? I am kind of a late bloomer in the whole sleep over thing...well except with Kenlie. Usually that involved me waking to her socks in my face or my hair tied in knots or something like that.”
Kaelyn: The replies to the texts she was sending out were not the ones she wanted. Her smile started to tug in the opposite direction, a frown taking its place. However, she couldn’t let the other see that look, so she quickly changed it back into a smile. She gave herself a minute to think of what she could say to the other and grabbed her lip gloss from her backpack and slid the shiny stuff over her lips. She smacked them and then looked back at Dom.
Thank god she didn’t go into questioning every little bit about him. She seemed to get that from a few in her family and she couldn’t begin to explain hardly anything honestly. She knew it was for the better. She had to keep herself safe, him safe, her family safe. Just like Jesse and Clover said...her boyfriend needed to stay secret. In fact after this conversation, she couldn’t even mention to anyone again that she even had one. Was it going to be like this forever? She hoped like hell not.

Re: As the Spawns Spit, Spew and Sputter
--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Kaelyn: Dominique’s question brought a true smile to her lips. One that lit up the entire room. “Yes...He makes me unbelievably happy. The happiest I have ever been, honestly. And that is all that matters. The rest is just filler.” Her knees pulled up to her chest and she couldn’t help but giggle a little. God he did make her so happy. She didn’t need to go into any further detail about him. Kaelyn liked this woman...she didn’t push...she didn’t butt in...and she probably wouldn’t judge either. At least that’s what she was reading from her.
“Well, Papi and I...our sleepovers are confidential. I am not at liberty to say what happens there.” That was actually truth. He had sworn her to secrecy. “But most sleepovers I’ve had...usually involve movies and snuggles and stuff like that. I like snuggles, do you like snuggles?” Would it be weird to snuggle up to some strange woman she hardly knew? Nah, not to her. She would be quite content. Plus she liked her so far...maybe she would be a new friend! “We could paint nails...you like food, we could order pizza.” The sadness from a few moments before had completely dissipated and she was back to the normal happy, bouncy, giddy Kaelyn as usual.
Dominique: Kaelyn was absolutely ...adorable. Dominique would be the last one to use the word with any noted routine but she was pretty much up there with the other female that deserved the term, Kenlie. She watched and she listened to what Victor’s daughter shared with her. She was sweet, trusting and pretty much appeared to wear her heart on her sleeve. It was rare but it could be found even in this existence. Dom needed that. She missed it. To breathe in the energy of being free, to enjoy the power of the world at the fingertips and the desire to explore every part of it.
For the moment, though there was Kaelyn. She was not the one that she would drag out into the night to see what there was to see. Where there would be hidden places to discover there would also be danger. She was a magnet for it and the last thing she would do is bring that to any of her own. Kaelyn was family so she was considered one of her own. Any blood of Victor’s and Kenlie’s was considered the shadow’s own.
“I have a better idea. Care to go back to Vita Bella? I can eat but I obviously don’t need to. Old habits die hard. I have a vivid memory for certain things and I can still taste the flavors of the food in my mind. In my mouth not so much. In fact I taste air more.” She shrugged. “We can tear up the garage go-kart track. Ever raced go-karts?”
Snuggles. Kaelyn like to snuggle. Dominique chuckled as she stepped closer to the rare, bubbling blonde. Leave it to Doc to suggest doing what at first seemed to be the farthest thing from her plans for the remaining hours of darkness and the daylight slowly burning its way to life. A sleep over. She had been alone so long that she was not sure how it would be sharing space while she was sleeping.
“As for snuggling I have been known to.” Dominique was not ready to commit to that yet but perhaps. The night was young and so were the possibilities of what could happen. “Ready to head over to Vita Bella?”
Kaelyn: Go-karts...that sounded like an awful lot of fun. She hadn’t ever been on them. Every time she went to the fair, she had been too short and her mother hadn’t wanted to go on them. Once she was tall enough, well...she was sick and there was no going back to the fair then. Her mother was overbearingly protective of her in her condition. A bright smile popped from her pink glossed lips. This would be a chance for her to drive! She was 17 and had still never driven anything at all. “I’ve never done go-karts but I would really really like that! You have them at Vita Bella? I haven’t been there in a really long time.”
Truth was, she hadn’t been back to Vita Bella since Kenlie and her got in that fight all those months ago and she was told she wasn’t welcome there. Things had been better with Kenlie in the end though...they were even getting along. Her body had been found recently and that’s where Victor had been keeping her, so maybe she’d even be able to steal a glance of her mom...even if she was still out cold in a coma or whatever it was. She would be happy to see her.
Fingers tugged at a curl and she smiled widely. The blonde got up from her seat and bounced on her feet some. This sleepover was going much better than most, already. Sleepovers were never the other person’s idea and they always felt obligated...it was something they had to force out to keep the young girl happy. She knew that...she sometimes felt bad, but she took advantage of it anyway and kept having them. It was her way of spending time with people. Without sleepovers, she would be awfully lonely. Kaelyn didn’t have any friends, so she had to rely on family to keep herself occupied. Doc was usually the one who got stuck with her. If not him either Jesse or Victor. The girl hadn’t made anyone else deal with the sleepovers lately. But tonight wasn’t even her idea and it sounded like a lot of fun!
“I hope you don’t get mad at Papi for making you have a sleepover with me. I’m going to try really hard not to be annoying...You’ll tell me if I am, yeah?” Fingers started to tug at the hem of her dress, hoping that tonight would go well. “I like snuggles...they help people feel better, but you don’t have to snuggle with me. You hardly know me. I’ll be happy with go-karts.”

Re: As the Spawns Spit, Spew and Sputter
"--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--"
(4:54:28 PM) Dominique: Looks around and finds the coast is clear quietly slipping into his office. Settling into one of the empty chairs she sits and she waits.(4:57:51 PM) Doc: Doc was in a mood. Not a vile mood, or an angry mood, but he was in a mood he could not describe. He seemed to be missing something, but he didn't know that he was missing something; thus the mood of distraction. He was even having a hard time focusing on the file in front of him. He looked up at the sound of the door, and was surprised to see Minx enter silently. Last they had spoken, he had been texting her, and she was ignoring his texts. "You're looking well..”
(5:02:44 PM) Dominique: She stared at him for a few seconds. Really? That was great to know. "I just got back from a hunting trip that turned into some unexpected camping. Had a fire and ..."she paused to check out the chair she was in. He got new office furniture. Thank gods because the other set looked like it crawled out of the '70s. "Nice chairs. Much better."
(5:07:37 PM) Doc: His sense of distraction seemed to be contagious, as she jumped subjects mid-sentence. He closed the file, cleared his desk and gve her his full attention. Something was going on with her and she had come to him. "I liked the Danish Modern better, but the ball and chain siad it looked dated and old." he paused, She had mentioned camping, apparently with Trahir. "So .. camping with your neighbor?" He would not press her for the moment.
(5:16:24 PM) Dominique: She looked at him and as she did she felt like he could see right through her. "No. It interrupted some camping. I will not elaborate. I started a much bigger fire than in the fire pit. A hunger if you will call it that. I found out I not only embrace the shadows of darkness..." She held onto to the arms of the chair as if it could take off at any moment. "I seem to have a lioness within me." Her eyes focused on him while feeling the connection to the animal within her and willed the shift to take place. She looked down from the seat of the chair bewildered. It was like being on a roof looking down at the floor. She looked back to him frozen in place.
(5:24:32 PM) Doc: Doc's face had been passive, until she mentioned the lioness, then a lopsided smile slowly curved his lips upward. "A ioness? " He felt a sense of pride, the future he had seen for her, seemed to be coming to fruitioin, except.. Trahir. Trahir who had a video of his progeny breaking the masquerade. "And how do you feel about that?"
(5:30:35 PM) Dominique: She looked at her hands which were now tiny little fur covered paws. The chair she was in should have snapped. The handful size kitten of the sand cat species lifted up and with it Dominique found no answers as she caught sight of the small tail attached to her. What the hell was this? ( ) With an attempt to roar a soft little noise came out. She looked to him. Where did her lioness go?! Another small sound came out followed by a very audible spitting when she tried to tell him how she felt about it.
