The sad look was there for a moment before vanishing. For a moment, Jonah considered apologizing and changing the subject but decided against it. If she did not want to talk about her grandmother, he trusted that she would be honest and tell him. He would take her willingness to talk as a sign that she trusted him and not sully it with unwanted apologies.
Nodding along, he smirked at her comment between the similarities between her life as a gypsy and after being turned. "No, I suppose it's not." He couldn't say much, before there was enough money circulating through the community to allow their kind to start businesses and employ each other, he had spent a large amount of his time breaking in to buildings and taking what he needed. Everyone did what they needed to survive when it came down to it.
When she beckoned for him, he followed her to the wall and had to lean over to see the poster from the correct angle. "You look like quite a pair." Once her voice grew soft, he turned to look at her, canting his head to the side. "Might not mean much since I didn't know her, but I'm sure she is. You're a person and a good friend and I don't think she could ask much more of you."
When she told him of how she came to leave her family and end up in Harper Rock, his formerly clam demeanor darkened some. It did not sit well with him that she was forced to leave what was her home. "I hate that for you. People..." he trailed off, not knowing the words to describe what he was feeling at the moment. Forcing himself to calm, the smile that appeared when she talked of her turning was strained but sincere. "Sounds about like Scorp. And no, good as it is I don't think I can drink anymore. Besides, I don't want to take up your whole evening. I know you have a store to run."
