The sad look was there for a moment before vanishing. For a moment, Jonah considered apologizing and changing the subject but decided against it. If she did not want to talk about her grandmother, he trusted that she would be honest and tell him. He would take her willingness to talk as a sign that she trusted him and not sully it with unwanted apologies.

Nodding along, he smirked at her comment between the similarities between her life as a gypsy and after being turned. "No, I suppose it's not." He couldn't say much, before there was enough money circulating through the community to allow their kind to start businesses and employ each other, he had spent a large amount of his time breaking in to buildings and taking what he needed. Everyone did what they needed to survive when it came down to it.

When she beckoned for him, he followed her to the wall and had to lean over to see the poster from the correct angle. "You look like quite a pair." Once her voice grew soft, he turned to look at her, canting his head to the side. "Might not mean much since I didn't know her, but I'm sure she is. You're a person and a good friend and I don't think she could ask much more of you."

When she told him of how she came to leave her family and end up in Harper Rock, his formerly clam demeanor darkened some. It did not sit well with him that she was forced to leave what was her home. "I hate that for you. People..." he trailed off, not knowing the words to describe what he was feeling at the moment. Forcing himself to calm, the smile that appeared when she talked of her turning was strained but sincere. "Sounds about like Scorp. And no, good as it is I don't think I can drink anymore. Besides, I don't want to take up your whole evening. I know you have a store to run."

A tired smile crossed her lips when the giant mentioned 'a store to run'. Too seldom anymore did she have the time to just sit back and chat away without a care in the world. Already her thoughts were drifting to the people due in for appointments this night and the things that needed to be done. The price of her success, she supposed, but she would not have it any other way. She seriously needed to consider finding another of 'like mind' and talents to help, but that was a matter for another night.

"Be glad you are not among the living still," she teased as she slipped her arm around his. "I would have been stuffing you with baked goodies as well as we talked. But yes, duty calls soon. I am so glad you stopped by to visit." She truly liked his company. Normally being alone with a male unnerved her to a degree, but she felt no menace in the company of the man mountain. Only a few males had that effect on her.

"I do enjoy our visits and I am pleased you are beginning to sort yourself out now. If I have helped in this in any way, I am more than happy." Her mental voice was light and happy as she began to escort her guest out of the purple parlor. "And if some evening you come and I am busy, never feel you are intruding. I can always say when a time I would have the time to pay proper attention to a guest would be available. So much more I am curious of and we need to discuss." She encouraged his return.
Some day I'm gonna be happy. I don't know when just now

"I think that makes me miss it," he nudged her as she slipped her arm in to his and let her lead him out yet again. Rarely did he think about what this life had made him give up but the thought of simple snacks as they talked managed to do it.

He was sure that her customers would not be shocked at all to see her leading a behemoth through her store by the arm like a puppy dog but he did his best to not seem menacing as she did so, a not so simple feat for the monstrous killer. "You've helped a lot. Not just with the reading. Just...being able to talk to you." A large, clawed hand covered hers for a moment and squeezed it in thanks.

"And I promise, I'll be back soon." As they reached the door, he turned to her and frowned slightly. "I'll try not to talk so much next time. It's just...not normal that I have someone that seems willing to listen."
