Q1: The Path Auction delivered the RP experience I was expecting for my character

Strongly Disagree

Q2: The Auction Card was a valuable tool when used to assess a character for purchase in Auction?

Agree

Q3: The ability to RP in each individual Bidding thread was a good addition to the Auction?

Strongly Agree

Q4: What parts of the Path Auction do you think worked really well?

Q5: What improvements or suggestions would you like to see?

A lot less blurring of the IC and OOC. Tighter rules to prevent friends purchasing people out of spite or hatred. This is supposed to promote good writing and if people have more worries about OOC effects than the joy they will get out of writing then that is something that needs to be addressed. Also, the voting should have been done in some hidden way so no one knows who is voting for who.

It needs to be stated upfront if this is being mod-run or player-run. Rules need to be set in stone and not changed along the way - ie, bids after 11:59pm should have been voided per the original rules. Don't have auctions close on a holiday night. Limit the number of participants. The payment transfers seem to be way more complicated than they need to be given how many alts particpated. If this is being mod-run and the money used for other events later, then people should be sending their payments to a special mod-run account just for this purpose. Frankly, I'd like to see more non-mod, player run events, but I don't feel like people are welcome to do such things.

Having a set dead line.. vs. bid and wait 24 hours to see if anyone else bids
Q5: What improvements or suggestions would you like to see?

If you say bidding is over at midnight inthe rules.. any bids after that should be disqualified. It should be allowed to go until the thread is closed.

Most of it

I'd like to see a running order for the auction, so we know which thread comes before/after the others. Bidding should end on a set hour according to the forum. That way, there'd be no moaning.

charicter interactions

even tho this was a 'holiday themed' auction, perhaps the close down times should have been more people friendly to those who had rl things going on as well

loved RPing the bidding. It allowed for so much more fun than previous years.
Q5: What improvements or suggestions would you like to see?

It was confusing for some that they all werent happening at the same time. Perhaps an order of contestants may help or even starting the auction a momth in advance and doing 31 contestants. One contestant per day and do 24 hours of bidding per person. That may be a little impractical but it would ease some confusion and give the RP a true time line..

The Effect of Feedback

Thanks again to the people who took the time to fill in the survey, it was really helpful. Overall, the feedback was positive and that's great! So thanks, for the concerns there will be some changes made in light of feedback and taking a look at how the auction went (as this was my first time running it)

I can say for sure there were decisions made about the auction, because of this feedback.

They are;
  • Due to the overwhelming response, the RP for each bidding thread will stay and we have taken feedback on board and we will be 'numbering' threads so you will know in what order each auction is to give a better more realistic timeline
  • We will have the rules fully sorted out before the next auction (so there's no confusion). Since this was the first one we have done, we are mindful we had a global rule rewrite smack dab in the middle (which wasn't helpful) - this won't happen again.
  • Timing at the end. Given this part caused the most confusion, a better idea of how the auction will end will be made clear before the next one.
  • We agree that the time was inconvenient, right on a holiday. This will change to beginning of October next time, to enable people to RP out their slaves 'at' Halloween, which I think will also give people more opportunity for some good RP and also not to stress people out who are celebrating the Holiday.

And just a reminder that there were new rules decided that will come into play next year
  • There will be a character participation limit. Only one character, until a deadline before you're allowed to submit one more. Max, two (separate) characters in the auction.
  • Only thirty participants total. I think, given the character limit, this might work out quite nicely overall but I think less is more and encourages a bit more interaction in other 'little known' threads if people have less participants to bid on.
Thanks again everyone. I know there were a couple suggestions for another auction earlier in the year, but I think once a year gives the auction a sense of anticipation and not dilute the enjoyment.

Again, great auction this year, despite the hiccups along the way I hope people had fun and thanks for being a part! :) :)

Just a notice, I see that the auction threads have been moved to Lancaster's! (probably Natasha) and being helpful, she has locked all of them.

Now I know there are active RPs going on in some so I have unlocked the two that look like they're being actively RPd in, but if you need others unlocked, that I didn't catch, please post here and I'll get to it.

Thankee.
