There was obviously something done to the code to make it as available for sale.. THat jsut doesnt randomly happen.
I think it's a bug, but one that can only happen in rare circumstances. I don't believe that anyone purposefully listed the tower on the realty list. If they did, it would be an exploit of a glitch rather than a hack, so to speak.
But yeah, we're looking into it. Don't panic, everyone, you won't lose any of your properties, as even if the bug does happen again we'll always overturn it.

As neither David nor I gain any money from IGC purchases of lairs (apartments, etc), I'm not really sure what the insinuation there is.
In my experience, people who are banned almost always feel the circumstances of their ban were shady. As it's against the rules to speak on behalf of a banned person (and one of the mods has politely posted a reminder to that effect), and the bug is being looked into - I'm not sure really what to tell you here.
David and I will have more information soon. As the bug has been 'fixed' for all pragmatic purposes in regards to you/your wife (I. E. There is nobody benefiting from your RL funds except for her character and people permitted by her character), I hope you'll offer up some patience while we work it out.
That wasn't exactly Polite .

We've found the bug, I believe. It would seem that The Ivory Tower was set up wrong. Either that, or some coding glitch caused it to go wrong, but it wasn't a user error or an intentional exploit, this much we can tell due to the nature of the bug itself.
So what the problem was was that the insides of many of the apartments within the Ivory Tower were set up wrong, so that the exit squares were actually set as 'for sale' squares, making it possible to buy The Ivory Tower, when it wasn't even for sale. Due to the fact that the insides of all apartments and basement apartments were set up the same way, it doesn't appear to have been done on purpose. This was either set up wrongly to begin with, or a glitch caused these apartments to change this way.
Anyway, the squares have been fixed now, and no other apartments in the game seem to be set up like it, so I don't believe this will happen again, unless I'm missing something.

Fixed. Went ahead and checked all the doors to be sure.
