Would it also help to just get rid of people being humans or vampires.
Say, a human walks into a square with a vampire...and only recognizes it when walking into a square instead of seeing (Human x4). I've kinda thought that would help things too, if everyone could just see grid names, esp since secrecy is kinda...null and void anyways?
Yeah that's exactly what I meant. It would speed up everything not only from a database size angle, but also just because there'd be less code for the system to run through each time you move. It's also simpler, and makes sense with the new chapter a bit.

There was a problem with getting rid of IDs entirely though. I can't remember what it was now... It wasn't the obvious thing regarding humans being targeted (people on Path usually have reasons to attack characters anyway), it was something else that I'm forgetting.
ETA: I remember part of it I think. Paladins and their ID-related power. Plus the Paladin quest. I'd need to replace both.

The paladin quest needs to kill zombies.
It's the BT quest where you need names.
So maybe...instead of a name quest, what about a vial of vampire blood off npc vamps? Say collect five vials of blood instead of names? Is that even possible?
Idk what to say about that paladin power tho...I know gideon uses that power a lot. >.> But I wouldn't cry if it was replaced with something else.

Wait, I think it is possible. I think there is a quest on grid that asks if a character would go steal some blood off a neighbor for a blood thief. Am I remembering that right? I swear I just had this quest the other day. Yesterday mebbe. And sucked and only for 25 xp. haha.

With the secrecy/masquerade gone.. why do we need ids, anymore?
Realistically, there is stranger on stranger attacks. I would hazard that at least 50% of all violence is done by a stranger.
It would change the game dynamics.. but it would also speed up the game yes?
So.. edit, based on David's comments I had not read yet when I posted.. >.>
The quest that needs names.. should be rewritten to go with the masq falling.. Mona Posted a a huge list in her newspaper.
Collecting blood wouldnt work.. it ashes / dissipates when it leaves the body.. so something else would have to be put in its place.

I like the vampire blood vial idea.
As for the powers, I know several were suggested for the paladin mastery. Maybe one of those could be nerfed a little bit and fit into the collective recognition slot.
For vampire hunter, maybe you could set it up to either
1) Give the location of 1 random vampire
Or
2) Increase the anima cost and make it so the paladin can find a specific vampire (usable once per day or something so it's not OP).

I don't think that's true for every path?
If it is, then idk why there is a quest for it? I swear there was one asking for my charrie to go into some neighbor's place and get a vial for the bloodthief. Wouldn't they know in theory that wouldn't work? By now, at least?

per the wiki.. the only path that doesn't ash or dissipate is Killer.
When a Shadow vampire dies, he or she does not turn to ash like some of the other paths, but disperses into a dark substance which resembles smoke,...
Stranger still are the properties of a Shadow's blood, which doesn't drip or ooze, it splashes on the fabric of reality and hangs in the air. It is as if the blood hits an invisible object and simply floats there, spattered on nothingness, until it disperses a few moments later in the same fashion a shadow will disperse when killed.
---
A Mystic dies in the common vampire fashion; they turn to ash and crumble
---
A Telepath dies and is reborn in the normal vampire fashion; they crumble to ash, ...
---
An Allurist dies and is reborn in the same manner as most vampires; they turn to ash when killed, and then return naked when reborn.
---
Unlike other vampires, when a Killer dies they leave behind their body just as a human would. This body remains a uninhabited shell until the vampire can return from the dead to re-possess it.
---
A Necromancer dies much like any other vampire, except that it seems to take a lot longer for their body to age, corpsify, crumble, and fall apart as ash.

Oh sure. When they die. But don't see anything about doing a lab draw other then shadows. Maybe a killers doesn't?
