"Of course I don't know. I don't pay attention to the news. I spend my time training to kill assholes like you." She shot back at him. If he was going to treat her like she was stupid, she was going to give it back. The blonde gave him a glare when he moved to lean over her and the chair she was in.

A hand was placed on her stomach. Blood covered that hand. It was rather disgusting and she was starting to loose her senses. She wouldn't have much longer. The blonde didn't want to die, but did she really want to become what he was? Could she honestly take the lives of innocent people? But, did they have to be innocent? She could easily drain the lives of criminals and humans that didn't deserve to live.

It was a hard decision, but not one that she had much time to think about. In a matter of minutes, the blonde would be dead. "I can give you one big reason why you should do it." The blonde leaned so her face was in his. "I can make sure that no one else comes after to you. I can play it off that I killed you. They would never know the difference. Do you want to spend your time having to hide and continue to fight off others? Or do you want to be free of it and have another pretty face in your life?"
The blonde smirked, she had to throw in her looks since he had made a comment about it.

Cedric laughed and shook his head. She repeated the same thing as she had previously -- what she could offer, but Cedric had already said these were things he could deal with on his own, should the time come for it.

"I have plenty of pretty faces in my life already, and can find plenty more if I have a hunger for them," he said, cool and calm, suave and completely confident. Pretty faces lived and died beneath his fingertips. They rued the day they ever met him. His tongue unstuck from the roof of his mouth with a tsk, eyes roaming to the wound that the woman vainly tried to keep from bleeding out. The scent of the blood was oh so enticing. She had one more chance.

"You should watch the news, see, because you might then have been prepared for what you could possibly have been up against. You've already tried to convince me that I need you, and I have already disagreed. If I am to save you, what can you offer me, as a person. Hm? Do you have a loyal bone in your body or is money your only concern? Imagine I am a future employee, and I am asking for a character reference..." he purred. There was still time. Time enough for her to answer this one last question, anyway.

Though the question had to be begged; would he really kill her, or was he far too curious about the answers she had to give to let her slip away? Death could always come later. Hell, he could sleep with her and let the fadebeast eat her after tearing from her inert body. The future held so many possibilities.

"I'm loyal. Obviously or I wouldn't be here doing this **** and dealing with you." The blonde really had, had about enough. It wouldn't be long before she was going to die. Her words had sounded raspy when they were uttered. So that was the last thing she decided to say to him. Either she'd die and not wake up or she'd die and be a vampire.

The pain in her stomach was out weighing the care of whether or not she lived. She wanted it to just stop. It felt like every organ was on it's last leg, well because it was. The blonde looked at him once more, uttering a few more words. "I don't want ******* money. I just want to kill the people who killed my parents. And being what you are will help. I said I wouldn't kill you, that shows loyalty. So do it or don't, but don't dilly dally all day about it." The words were strained and raspy, but she got them out.

The choice was is.

Would he make the right one?

Cedric arched a brow and shook his head. The logic wasn't sound. One could not claim loyalty to a corporation if willing to throw that loyalty away for a new one. If the woman were loyal to her employers she would have stopped at nothing to slaughter the man she'd been sent to kill. Saying that she would not kill him only made Cedric wary. By definition of loyalty, that statement would be a lie.

And yet he plucked the pertinent information from the barrage of words. She just wanted to kill the people who'd killed her parents. Plenty of questions were twitching for attention -- how did she land on this path? Why kill others, on her way to her parents, and to her revenge? Cedric had never felt the need for revenge. Where he landed on this path of life was all his own doing, he could blame no one else. Revenge was a foreign language.

And yet, curiosity won out. Cedric did not fear death at this woman's hands, even if she was prepared to play the long game. As she grew stronger, so too would he. And time was short.

From his desk he plucked a letter opener, its tip sharp enough to pierce the thick skin of his neck. The blood that spewed forth from the skewered vein was black, billowing into the air and dispersing like smoke. He barely flinched, and now only smirked. If she wanted this, she would have to work for it, and take it by force.

"To have what you want, you will have to consume my blood. If it is what you want, you will have to come and get it," he said.

The look of disgust was clearly evident on Blair's face when he took out the letter opener and sliced his neck. She was not comforted by the black of his blood. It was gross and not exactly something that she wanted to 'taste.' However, it was that or die. She would have to do it in order to live. The blonde couldn't help but mutter something under her breath about what an *** he was. She'd have to suck it up, she was going to be sired under him. Was that even the correct term? She thought so.

Blair grunted as she slowly stood from her chair. It wasn't exactly the easiest thing she had ever done and Cedric was a jerk for making her get up to take his blood. The steps were painful, but the blonde crossed the room to face the taller male. She scowled, not believing that she was actually going to take the black blood from him.

After heaving a sigh, she leaned up to place her mouth on the cut. It was all she could do not to gag. She wasn't exactly sure how much blood she needed. A small taste wasn't going to be enough, so she coaxed the blood out, drinking a mouthful. Blair stepped back and gagged some. It didn't taste good. It tasted horrible to be honest. However, Blair wasn't exactly prepared for what would happen next. The pain was agonizing. She fell back into the chair and let out a scream.

Soon enough, she'd wake up as a cold-blooded killer.

The woman did as she was told, though by the expression on her face Cedric could tell she was far from happy about it. He wasn’t exactly about to hand her anything on a silver platter after she’d tried to assassinate him. He recalled his first taste of Castalia’s blood, the pure magic of it, the way it brought him back to life like electric jolts pumping through each and every single nerve within his body. There’d been pain, yes, but it had come after the initial reaction. He’d clung to the source of that blood like he couldn’t get enough of it.

If this blonde was anything to go by, his blood by comparison must have tasted like dishwater. She barely took two mouthfuls before stepping back, and Cedric was about to step forward and tell her she’d have to take more than that to do any good. Though it appeared he’d be wrong in that, too. Only two mouthfuls and the change started to take place. Maybe it had something to do with how close to death she was. One thing was certain: this turning business was different for everyone.

A glance was spared for the door as the blonde let out a scream; no one came running. Not yet. Two fingers were pressed to the wound at his neck, which healed within half a minute. Some struggled through the change, awake the whole time. Some passed out while the change took place, while all their organs died and their body adapted. The latter appeared to happen here, and rather than just sit around, Cedric instead organised.

He was immediately on the phone to call one of his trusted drivers; he’d meet them around back, in the loading zone. By now the centre was winding down, most of the shops closed and barely anyone around. Cedric was able to carry his unconscious cargo through the innards of the mall’s halls and toward the staff exit. He’d take her home, to his apartment where she’d be laid out on the spare bed.

And Cedric would continue to go about his business.

It wasn't long before the blonde passed out. She didn't know how this turning thing worked for everyone but apparently this was the way she was going to go about it. It worked for her. She didn't want to be awake and experiencing the pain she had experienced before passing out. However, it made it harder for Cedric. He would have to move her to some place safer, so whoever didn't come looking after him. The trail of blood she left behind would be sure to rise some questions.

Blair wasn't aware of the ride to his apartment. She wasn't aware of anything, but the change was taking place. Her organs died off one by one. The next day, she'd wake as a vampire. A bad *** vampire, hopefully.

The night moved on and Blair slept for the rest of the day, when the next evening came the blonde stirred and slowly opened her eye lids. She didn't know where she was but all that she did know was that she was starving and there was no longer blood dripping from her stomach. The blonde moved from the bed and stood. She felt stronger, her senses were heightened. It felt amazing.

Stepping out of the bedroom, Blair looked at Cedric.

"I'm hungry."

Phone calls had been made – a few to his places of business, one to Castalia with explanations weaving from his tongue like mysterious vapours, though throughout the conversation the whole story would be revealed. He could keep nothing from Castalia. She would know that the blonde had come with the intent of assassination and, if asked why Cedric then let her live, the man would change the subject. Even he couldn’t quite figure it out. Curiosity, maybe?

He stayed at the apartment while he waited for his newest fledgling to wake up – when he woke the next night and she was still sleeping, he took out his laptop to check emails, sitting at the kitchen table. The kitchen itself was spotless, never used. There was very little point in having a kitchen, but all apartments came with one. It was a basic human need.

When his progeny finally emerged from the bedroom, Cedric’s gaze swept her from head to toe – he’d say that he was checking to make sure all wounds were healed, but would that really be the truth? A hard and fast sense of decorum had settled in, however; this woman was now his childe, and thus she was out of bounds. Childe, that word so closely married to child. From now on, that’s how he would see her. Though she was not young enough to be born from his own DNA, he would look at her like she was his legitimate child. Or perhaps a sister. It would help.

”Of course you are,” he said in a matter-of-fact tone. Hunger was to be expected. He closed the laptop and stood, sauntering over to the woman to hold out a hand. He was not sure whether introductions had been made – though in his case, they were not required. She already knew who he was.

”Cedric Costello, officially,” he said. In all the chaos from the night before, he couldn’t remember whether he’d gotten her name. And so he waited – he was already dressed, already ready to leave. They would go out and find her something to eat.

Blair looked over the male and instantly scowled. She could tell when someone was checking her out. Cedric hadn't been so subtle about it. He was a nice looking man, that much she could admit too. Blair ran a hand through her tattered blonde locks. Green hues stared down at the offered hand. The blonde shook it and spoke once more. "Blair." She didn't offer her last name. Was it necessary?

After shaking the hand, she dropped it and shoved hers into her pockets. "Can I go out like this? I've still got blood and all that stuff." The comment had reminded her of the wound. Blair lifted her shirt to check it out. No longer was there a gaping whole. It had closed up, with a small scar left behind. "What the hell..." She continued to look over her stomach. "What happened?"

Blair didn't really know anything about vampires and their healing abilities. Nor she really know about the hunger for blood. However, she was feeling the hunger right now. Blair dropped her shirt and turned to face Cedric.

"Well?"

Cedric laughed, the sound low and chortling.

”Of course you are welcome to a shower. I didn’t think you’d appreciate it if I cleaned you up myself,” he said. The thought had crossed his mind, but it had been quickly dismissed. Cedric could be scum when he wanted to be; he treated women like dirt only in that they had only become hot meals via a quick (or long, depending on his mood) ****. But there were lines that he would not cross. He took no woman to bed who was not willing, or who did not give him permission. And nor would he invade their personal space while they were sleeping. That would be a whole new low.

”You are a vampire now. Wounds will heal within hours, or within a few nights depending on their severity. You are immortal. You will crave blood. You will develop abilities – it will depend on what path you have taken. You are stronger than you’ve ever been, you’ll be faster. Your senses will be heightened. I have made you a better version of your former self,” he explained. And that was only the beginning. That wasn’t even scraping the surface of everything that she would have to learn and become accustomed to. They had yet to even figure out which path she belonged to, or which abilities she might develop first. That was not the most pressing of their concerns.

”It is a gift, I think. You will either appreciate it or you will not. I only hope that you will not disappoint me,” he said. Blair’s behaviour would not only reflect upon her, but upon Cedric as well.
