No, that very word spoken by Peter hit hard. Though Sean would listen quietly as the man explained further. It enhanced who they already were? Like personality wise? That almost sounded like a nightmare. Sean was paranoid, delusional, pressed with the anxiety of overwhelming emotions at times. What effect would becoming a vampire have over him? Sean was intruded with the mention of a sire. That had to have been what one called the vampire that turned them? Sean liked to agree with Peter too, that violence was not something to be inherited. It seemed that even a vampire should have a free choice of what they became.

The man had asked him a question then. One that Sean would think over within thought. Why was he asking? or better yet, What was he going to tell Peter? Suddenly he thought of something, something so simple and he could not recall if he had missed it. Had he introduced himself to Peter? The trip to town, and tonight’s mental crash had left his mind scattered. ”Did I introduce myself already? If not I’m sorry…. Silly how something so simple as sharing a name can slip ones thoughts at times. Much seems to escape me lately. I’m Sean, Sean Hunter.”

It was then the rain that threatened from earlier, would begin to fall. A light cold mist, one that held promise of a storm. It brought, a brief moment of clarity, stealing his thoughts for a brief moment, as cool drops hit his face. A shiver then, a reminder of a reality and the unanswered question that lingered. His eyes would linger over to where Peter stood as he spoke then. ”I’m just tired of being broken, of being alone and out casted for what hunts me. I think that if there was even a chance of something changing this for me, I would want it.”

How crazy did all that sound? Was there reason in wanting to become a vampire if it meant holding more control over his own mind? Though it was likely it wouldn’t change anything, but it would be a choice. Could it be his own choice? If he were a vampire, he could still die, but Peter had mentioned there was a way to come back. A way to always have a choice, even in an end. What of Peter… Had he wanted to become a vampire? ”How does it work? To be turned…. Is it painful?” He realized it might have been too personal a question as he had asked it, but he was curious now. He desired an understanding, if the man was willing to shine light on such. His curiosity pressed strong that the cold rain was hardly even noticed then.

Peter may as well have been cursed, with his inability to lie. Though it wasn’t a discomfort to him, to tell the truth. When people asked him questions, however, he saw no problem in answering them honestly. It didn’t matter how awkward the question might be – except when he’d met Jersey, and he’d thought that the slightest slip in regards to his vampirism might mean death for the both of them. Then, there had been questions that he’d avoided. Now, though? With this Sean Hunter? There was nothing to avoid. He already knew. Peter had already told him everything.

Well, everything that mattered, to a human.

”Peter Parkman,” he said, giving his own name in return. Normally an exchange of names like this required a handshake, but Peter didn’t move. He was comfortable there, standing against the door – at a bit of a remove. Though when it started to rain, he backed further inside, indicating that Sean should do the same. Peter would prefer not to get drenched.

”My turning was the result of an argument between my sire and her husband. I think they first wanted me dead but they changed their minds and fought over which one would bring me back to life. As far as that part of the process is concerned, it was terrifying, and it did hurt. But – the body has to change. I can’t eat anymore. My heart doesn’t beat. Ultimately, the body dies and then is brought back to life again. The organs shut down. Only the ones that are needed still function, but even then I am quite sure they don’t function the same as they do in humans,” he said with a frown. These were the kinds of things Whit was trying to figure out, weren’t they?

The last time Peter had seen Whit, it had been at Whit’s comic shop. Out the back, Whit had set up a kind of laboratory. He invited Peter to see him dissect a living vampire – Whit wanted Peter to be proud, but Peter had wanted to throw up. Because of the blood. Because of the violence of it. The merciless coldness of it. But it had been in the pursuit of knowledge, and Peter now understood Whit’s reasoning. These were things that people might want to know. Better that the vampires know than the humans. Though it still was not something that Peter would condone. Coming back to himself, he tried to focus on the questions.

”It doesn’t last long. The pain. And when it’s gone, all the senses are heightened. It’s… it’s like being a superhero. It’s not all bad,” he said. He often flipped between the two opinions – whether he liked or whether he hated it. It depended on the day.

”Is it a change you want to consider?”
