Eureka licked her lips. She was still hungry. She still hadn’t had a chance to feed. Maybe she was hangry. Hungry and angry. But then, she focused on her inner self—she wasn’t angry. As if all her anger had fled her system the night that she’d killed that customer in the grocery store. That had been the peak of her anger; an anger that had been brewing her entire life.

Yes, her entire life.

Regardless of what the men were talking about, Eureka’s focus was steadfast upon the other woman. She who had a history of being laughed at and ridiculed. The redhead’s head canted to the side as she considered. What would be better? To be laughed at and ridiculed or to be so plain and dull as to be forgotten, never looked at or acknowledged? Like a non-thing. And then treated like a drone, someone who only served and who never deserved an ounce of common kindness.

She didn’t mention it, of course. Eureka harboured no bitterness. The past was the past and it was no more. That life and that dull girl may as well be dead. They may as well have died on that rooftop where Chad had birthed this Eureka. This girl who had no problems being alone, but nor did she have any problems around other people, either.

Though, Niklaus was right. She was causing trouble. Maybe she wasn’t so good around other people. But she didn’t quite care. She was having fun. She was observing. She was learning. Like a child with the entire world in front of her, and new horizons to reach for. Terribly curious and completely oblivious to any lasting harm that she might be causing.

Deirdre and Nikolae slipped away to head, determined, down the street. Something about Rogues, and that temple that they had mentioned earlier. Nikolae seemed angry. Deirdre was eager to please. Eureka tilted her head backward to look up at Niklaus. Still curious. She took a couple of steps away from the larger man and the pleasing effect of his fingers messing with her hair—glancing between him and the others who were getting further away with each passing minute.

”What are Rogues?” she asked.

And then, as a quiet addendum:

”…I don’t have my weapons with me…” disappointment coloured her tone. She really liked her weapons. The ones that Niklaus had given to her.

Niklaus nodded understandingly at Deirdre, “It’s quite fine, dear” was all commented, the situation between the two redheads didn’t have to be mentioned out loud – even when the tension subsided when Deirdre pocketed her firearm. The action in itself making the Killer wince slightly, that was a loaded pistol right there and even if the safety was on, pockets were a very bad place to keep a loaded gun. But that was just another unspoken idea; there were already more important matters at hand as the pair of Dragons started moving away to deal with the Rogue situation.

“Rogue vampires. They are intelligent, unlike those Rogue Vampires in the Quarantine Zone. Yet, they seem to have a whole different agenda, compared to ours. Up until now, their careless, most likely deliberate actions have attracted a lot of attention to our kind. Most of the pro-masquerade individuals in the city hunt them really” he explained, returning his gaze back to Reka. His fingers brushed along the grip of his holstered handgun, “If you’re down to hunt those retards, I can lend you this. I’m travelling light tonight but I’ve got a blade as well.” They were Killers, killing things was in their nature. Even if it meant taking some extra, totally unnecessary damage along the way. The safe thing would have been to do a quick detour and pick up some heavier artillery but then again, the safe way wasn’t that much fun. Besides, instead of making it come off as a rash, uncalculated decision, it was a good idea of a field test for her. Niklaus had been wanting to see Reka in action for a while now, he had already noticed her uncanny ability to piss people off and pick fights. Now was the time to find out if she packed a mean bite too.

He didn’t wait for an answer, unholstering the handgun and offering it to her already. The modded firearm bore a laser sight as well; she really needed no further instruction. The only thing she needed now, he was going to give to her. His free hand plucking the extra magazines from his mag pouch and casually sliding them down her back pockets. One, two, three… four, five. “I think that’s about as much as you can hold back there. I’ll feed you if you need more” he added with a grin. It was already decided, they were joining in.
