I ignore the quip from my "wife," and look around the place. I'm ready to cut the party short and book out. While Doc, Beverly and Pyper are here, the other people I invited haven't come and I don't think they are coming. There's no need to waste anyone's time waiting around. Plus, I think I've behaved long enough and even socialized longer than I think is necessary.
"How long do these things last for?" I look over at Skylar, then at Jules. "Everyone probably has something better to do then quizzes and drinking." It wasn't meant to be a slight at Skylar or those that could drink, but it probably sounded like it. **** it. What do I care?

I hear Ric talk and my attention shifts to him. I can't help it. It doesn't seem to matter where in the room we stand, or how far apart. I mean this lot are far from rowdy. It's kinda sedate actually.
I get from the question that Ric is getting twitchy. He knows he can have time off for good behaviour but I know him. He's had enough. He likes to be productive. To be doing something. And while chatting to most of us is doing something, it's not to Ric.
"Come dance with me Ricky!"
I shout this to him from the bar. I pretty much expect him to give me the middle finger and tell me he doesn't dance. He does. he can. I just don't think he likes to. He's more likely to dance with me at home. Here... He'd probably fall back on that god awful dance move that I can't help but wish he'd forget. He makes a prat of himself when he does that - a cute prat - but a prat nonetheless. Not that I can talk. I embarrass myself on an almost daily basis.

I just look at Skylar when she yells at me to come dance at her. Is this a test? She knows I can't dance. And I know she hates the few dance moves I do have. So, I shake my head no. Instead, I grab the rest of the gifts and start passing them out. I'm done with the party. I want to get back to working on my projects, since my projects bring me in my income.
"Thanks for coming." I mean it to about half the people here. The ones I know, primarily. I could have done without the ones I didn't know and the ones I knew, but didn't like for a few reasons. "Hope you had fun. Or an interesting observation, at least." I say that to Doc and the women around him. Like Beverly, Pyper and the other woman. Marisa was it? Melissa? I'm not good at names unless I say them the second I meet the person.

Yep. I knew it. Ric’s given up. I laugh to myself and shake my head. I turn to tell Sapphire to just keep at it until everyone’s gone. I have to remind her to take the bottle of blood when she goes too. They need to go back to Lancaster’s if they’re unopened.
I walk around the room and thank people for coming. Yeah cutting out early feels wrong but I don’t wanna stick around if Ric fucks off. I mean I could. I don’t need Ric with me to have a good time but considering this is our party it just feels strange for only one of us to be here. I could argue its weirder for neither of us to be here but who the **** cares. Our party. Our rules. We don’t have to be the last ones out of the door.
“Race ya home?”
I ask Ricky, as I kiss him on the cheek. I don’t wait for the answer because I have to get the elevator up before I can portal jump and well Ricky… he just needs to click his fingers and he’ll be home.

Nerissa took the gift and nodded in thanks. It seemed this party was wrapping up, which was fine with her. It had been an enjoyable experience, and she was glad she came, even if the number of people she talked to was very small.
When Skylar came to say her thanks, Nerissa nodded and said "It was fun, thanks!" Nerissa then turned her attention to Pyper and Beverly. "I'm ready to leave when you are." She could just leave by herself, but she didn't want to be the first one out the door, so she decided to wait until she could leave with her friends. Until then she watched as Rodrick and Skylar talked to everyone there and handing out the gifts.

It rang somewhere in the back of her head. The dismissal to go home made her blink and return her to the present, instead of rifling in the minds of strangers. Her eyes darted among the faces so quickly that they blurred together until they focused on Skylar first and then Roderic. She smiled, stepping to group closer to Nerissa and usher Beverly home with them.
"It was nice, thanks for the invitation," she said to the both of them. "Beverly?" her query came over her shoulder as she moved to the side, pivoting so that she was not blocking Beverly from view of their host and hostess. She'd be hesitant to leave her behind if she left immediately.

Finally.
We're leaving. I nod my head at Nerissa and then at Pyper. "Thanks for coming guys." Then, to seal the deal, I say something that lets people know we're leaving. Skylar opened that door a long time ago, whether it be true or not when I say it. Though, most people who actually know me will probably believe the latter. "Alright. Thanks everyone. We're going to go do what married people do. Or something." If that didn't get people leaving, well, **** them.
Skylar's long gone, thinking she's going to win the race, so I indulge in her fantasy for a little bit. I've timed how long it takes her to go from the place she goes to, the one Pi or Elliot owns, to back home. I've counted the seconds. And so, I count again. I figure she has about a ten to twelve second head start, so I subtract that from the usual time and then about eight seconds prior, to just about the time the elevator door pings open to our floor, I'm there. Right in front of her with a **** eating grin.

It doesn't take me long to get through the den and portal jump to the flats. I run to the elevator and roll my eyes when I'm forced to wait for it descend before I can get in the thing and press the button to my floor. As the doors open I swear. Ric is right there.
"You ******* cheated. Cheater."
I sound mad but I'm not. I'm soon grinning. I knew I never stood a chance. Not unless someone had distracted him or something. Which apparently didn't happen. Though to be fair, I never expected it to. He's too good for that.
"So..."
I wrap my arms around his neck.
"Wasn't so bad eh?"
I give him two quick kisses, tap him on the nose and pull back to let him do his thing with the door. I’m pretty sure it irks him when I unlock it and only open the door once so yeah, I’ll let him have at it.
