The Chupacabra is part of the american folklore. I was not talking about those. In the old, and I mean really old, transsylvanian folklore there were myths about vampires, though they didn't look as nice and humanlike as movies and books nowadays depict them. And in those old myths they did indeed drink blood from goats and other animals, if no human blood was found. The Chupacabra is similar, but it's from a completely different area and folklore.

I obviously stumbled onto the weirder side of the internets and need to go to sleep.

I do my best. *bows*

Still, figured this thread needed a conclusion, so I gave it one.

I can't help but feel that is like if someone posted "Is the Boogeyman real", someone replying "Yes" and then saying the matter is settled.

There have been rumors of sightings, yes. But I have also seen images of celebrities edited to show them with a gain/loss of a couple of hundred pounds, too. I have seen alleged 'Yeti' and 'Loch Ness' photos, yet no evidence has been found, nor science journals (at least, that *I* can find) offering genetic and biological notes and journals from scientists who have studied and/or observed these species.

Same goes for Vampires. I am willing to go so far as to say that they COULD exist, but I am still a fair ways away from a tinfoil hat and holding cardboard signs up on streetcorners, with "VAMPIRES EXIST" on them.

If I asked a random group of people Are you a vampire?

Some might say "Yes." and some might say "No".

Now .. My question is Are you a Vampire? (and.. Yes. It's that simple.)

Absolute stupidity. Not the idea that there might be life beyond humankind (I mean, we have crop circles and 'photos' of Bigfoot, right?), but that people would fight so savagely to try and say that something exists, for no other reason than because a world where these things are real just seems more suitable to the individual than a world where they do not exist.

I would like to think that life-sized houses of gingerbread and Reese's goodness exist, and are commonplace in certain areas (drop me a Maps URL for heaven's sake!), but sometimes we just have to face reality and accept that *wanting* something, does not just wish that thing automagically into existence.

To the person who said read the newspapers: I do. I also read their websites, the websites and blogs of various outlets and journalists and bloggers, and for every claim FOR something I can find, I can find an equal number of blogs, outlets and more that have 'evidence' AGAINST that very same thing. Take this supplement, DON'T take this supplement, high intensity interval training, LOW intensity interval training, choose this Diet Supplement, oh wait, no, choose THAT Diet Supplement, no wait they're BOTH toxic but instead try THIS Diet supplement....

I'd rather not be a slave to hype.
