Doc turned his attention from Nerissa to her sire, Lucretia. She seemed lost in the moment; Studying and watching all the people and things about her. From Lucretia his gaze moved to the door. He found it strange that Phoenix had not shown up. Ric was her spawn, he would have thought she would have been here, but he hadn’t seen her. Briefly he toyed with calling her, but then went through the iterations of the reactions. If he called and asked where she was, she might presume he was interjecting himself deeper into her life. That could have a detrimental effect. She might then expect him to then, drop what he was doing to be at her beck and call, when she called him.

Once more his attention turned to his newest Spawn, China. He tilted his toward her, as he said softly, “If you get married.. this is how you should do it. No stiff and fussy ceremony for everyone to have to suffer through. Have your ceremony in private. Then throw a huge party afterwards.” He nodded.

Beverly had been overcome by the multitude of people wandering in and out, talking and introducing. She was a quiet girl, and seldom looked for crowds, tended to stay away from them, and as such had slightly withdrawn into her own mind, just watching the proceedings silently. The tightening of Pyper's grip, however momentary, drew her back instantly. Her eyes seeking out her lovers face, wondering what had caused the grip. No sign of distress showed, so she just painted on a smile , raising their tangled fingers to her lips, before taking another sip of water, before adding to the conversation. "Marriage is overrated, simply a method to control the population, and add taxes." She paused a moment then continued, "If you are not loving, loyal, and faithful, a piece of metal and a licence will not make it so"

She smiled to Skylar, Pyper and Doc choosing to stand off rather than mingle. It was a combination of reasons, really, but the main being that she was still... unsure about large groups of people other than family and not being sure on how she would be, anyway. Hearing Pyper’s voice, Juliet smile widened softly at the familiar tone.

Thank you, Pyper, you look lovely.

As she watched the others about, she rolled a bangle up her slender wrist and waited for Skylar to come near before handing the small packaged gift to the woman. “Congratulations, and for you and Ric.” Looking at the quiz, she fiddled with the pen in hand as she began to think over things.

Doc looked at Beverly as she spoke about marriage, he nodded in agreement. Marriage was over-rated; but it didn’t stop young females who grew up dreaming about a magical wedding, from wanting one. “I agree. Completely. My marriage, was fucked up. Way fucked up. I am ok with the fall out from that mistake now, but it took a while to get past that ****.” He would have said more but the quiz was being handed out.

As he received his quiz and writing instrument he started scanning the questions. Well ****. He was going to fail this quiz. He ******* hated failure. That was one of his foibles. Tests, quizzes, anything that was made to rank your knowledge on a subject. It was unacceptable to fail. He moved from the group and studied the quiz in depth. Occasionally stopping to look up and study the couple as though staring at them might give him the answer.

The Altaire passed a smile over to Beverly over their conjoined hands. The touch made concrete that brought her away from her observational state of catatonia. She put little thought into marriage. During a conversation with her sibling the talk of binding came up, because of the triplet set of fadeling corpses that had wandered into her possession. It was for some people, and that thought never waivered. Even with Charles' very adamant standing. That partners ******* suck, that they are evil. They drain you of everything and leave you a husk in the end. This discussion came up often.

As Pyper was passed the quiz, one she uttered a thank you to Roderic for her brow wrinkled in the center. The answers conjure up and dissipate. A hand swiping across a chalkboard, smearing remnants of thoughts previous. Some she guessed, she'd not know the answers to. Roderick and she had stopped speaking, and she's heard little things abo it Skylar. They were opinion based, and approaching evaded her like a skittish animal.

She tried her best to answer.

One of her favorite powers had always been mindspeak, allowing her to talk to – in the case of some of her siblings such as Roderic bug – with others without having to move her lips. It made conversations easier to not get distracted, really, given the somewhat invasive action into another’s mind.

As Skylar thanked her for the gift, she nodded her head, “I’m impressed you wrangled him in.” Juliet chuckled, and then hugged her in return as she took a moment from the quiz. There weren’t too many answers that she seemed to know. “I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.” The smile stayed on her lips as she laughed, “Definitely a new record. We’ll have to start timing him soon.”

Hearing Roderic’s approach, she turned to him, “Hey Ric.” Juliet said fondly, “I was a little late, but I wouldn’t miss this. It’s not every day you two celebrate marriage.” She motioned towards the box that Skylar had, “I made you two something.” And at his question, she blinked and nodded. “Looks right to me.”
