The more untouchable someone believes themselves to be, the more asinine they become and the less their decisions correspond with reality, which makes sense given the detachment required to believe that they're untouchable in the first place.

You don't need "immortal vampires" to see this... just look at celebrities and politicians. Or the average teenager. Of course, if someone DID believe themselves to be an immortal vampire, I suspect they'd have an unbearable sense of entitlement.
