Valerian held out his hands in almost a shrug about staying a few more hours. The 'apparition' might be gone. At least, it looked that way. But that didn't mean that they were alone. Valerian usually would let himself be at ease, if he were around a group of humans. But this person was just another random individual. Here because he had nowhere else to go. Sometimes, those types could go to extremes. But worse was that if there was something out there they couldn't touch, maybe there were others out here. Whether or not they were after that creature, or with it, they might be dangerous.
The three quickly came up and Valerian held tightly to the weapon ready to raise it the moment he saw any of them having a gun out. However they didn't yet. Instead just shining a flashlight at them, Valerian blinked in the light holding up one hand and peering through his fingers scowling at them. Chives was the first to speak, fairly cheerfully. Or at least, apparently so.
Paladins, they were an interesting bunch. And a bunch that Valerian could appreciate the existence of. That took care of those pesky vampires when nobody else would.
The bearded one finally spoke, his words came as if his throat were cracked, occasional pauses that interrupted a word but were so short someone might not realize until after he had already moved onto the next one, "Have you heard of a vampire calling himself Victor Crane. He's quite pale, around his height." he said gesturing to one of the ones beside him, "Black hair. His fangs seem to never retract. We need him. If you have any information about it, it'd be best for you to tell us.
His eyes were sharp and he seemed to be looking occasionally at their hands and pockets.
Valerian glanced at Chives, then smiled at the three of them, taking a more relaxed stance. "No one like that to my memory. Though we did see a...shadowy figure outside."
