Amnesia, a deficit in the memory caused by damage of the mind. Or at least that was her excuse for not having much of a memory. Some nights she could recall with clarity, like it just happened or she was seeing a picture in her mind. Others she couldn’t remember at all. There was no fog over it, it just wasn’t there at all. The night had been erased fully and wholly in her mind. When it came to the comings and goings of the city she tended to have amnesia. Especially when one night blurred into another since she was doing the same thing every night and day for that matter.
Sleep came very little to her. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to sleep, she just could not. No matter how hard she tried it never seemed she could get more than a few hours then wide awake. Unlike other vampires, she could rise during the daylight. And unlike other vampires, should could be out in a small burst of the day with little effect. Of course that varied on the time of day. She wasn’t looking to get a sunburn at all. Even if she had quite a few in the past from attempting to be out during the daylight hours.
Cristiana took off the blazer, and laid it over her lap. A leopard spotted tattoo covered her shoulder. “Watch very carefully dear.” She closed her eyes and a soft breath released. The ink bled out of the skin running down her arm. Before it could hit the floor, even one drop she used the blazer to wipe it all up. She had forgotten that the city was in such peril. She had forgotten about the trackers they were trying to place into the vampires. Silly mortals, thinking that anything could remain inside of them.
“Mine, you see,” She motioned toward the tracker. “Is on the collar of a cat roaming around the city. They think they are tracking my movements, and yet, here I am. You too can do this. And age, or deage. Also eat. Our kind, we can consume food without the bother that is puking on the spot.” She was trying to explain to him what it was to be an allurist itself. “You never needed to cut yourself, just concentration, and it would have removed itself, like bullets. Though, cutting is faster in the end. With enough concentration we can make ourselves older or younger as we wish. I can eat a full course meal now, but when I first began… well… I puked out a grape. Start with a piece of chocolate.” She gave him one of those cutesy little winks like it was a secret between the two. It was just their powers.
“Please go on and try something.” She offered him the silence to make something happen. Be it making the noise and the world die out or become booming louder you had to cover your ears and scream until it went away. Or to age and have a full head of gray hairs, wrinkles or the opposite and youthful beauty glowing skin only a teenager could have. That is all things within the realm of possibilities.
While he tested himself, or at least she gave him over the silence to try, she retreated into her own thoughts for the moment. She wondered what they should do next at the school. It was time for new blood within the city. The School itself, Society of Allurist, was right above their heads. Without Tempy she didn’t think of reopening the place but students like him, Chance, needed the place if she was makeshift teaching him here in the office. She would have to look into a way of getting the school back open. Maybe she would call the realty office for a fresh set of keys. It was something to think about doing for the sake of the younger allurist. She hadn’t thought much about doing it since for a long while she was out of the country.
Even though the male before her didn’t know it, Cristiana was an accomplished pilot. She had her own air crafts. One small jet plane. It wasn’t large at all. It could hold 4-5 people comfortably. And the helicopter on top of her building across town. The building itself housed many apartments, again something in which she was thinking about. Talking to the realtor and making the apartments open and buyable, but also expanding the height of the building for more apartments. No one, not even her knew. She drifted into this frame of thought until he spoke up again. It wasn’t even cutting her off. Her thoughts were always fleeting at best.
Tonight when she went from the club to her building, she would ponder more while using celerity to get home and bypass all the crap that is making the city the mess it is. Without the world in its mess, over the water of the river, without anyone seeing as she did almost every night. Home, work, work, home. And Zodiac. The whole world was complete enough then. But when he spoke, she did listen no matter what distraction was in her mind.
