Re: Active again
I love, love, love that there are people trying to get this place active again!
I've got some things going on - (namely trying to shake muse awake) - but I'm game to help in any way possible. I would definitely suggest trying to get our advertisement out there.
I was thinking of an event of some kind. Something widespread for old and new players alike to try and entice them into coming back around. Gifts, music, interaction. Maybe try to make an annual event or something similar.
For the newbies, I love the idea of bringing something like the foundation back, maybe doing an updated IC/OOC guide and getting it stickied for the game, as well?
If there's anything I can do, feel free to hit me up. :]

Re: Active again
Claude Lambert is my Blood Thief-Sorcerer, so he’d make a great candidate for the Human mentor. His personality is rather teacher-like and his businesses are centred on education, so I am more than willing to throw his hat into that mix.
Claude will take on a leadership position, even though I’m not exactly warm to the idea of leading anything given my track record! LOL. In saying that, he has already reached out on the Human board and I’ll think about producing some kind of institution (X-Men style) that should help those Human characters fit into HR.
Urm, I’m thinking that anything else we can do on a player end is just remain active and keep coming up with ideas to promote activity. Like you guys are doing. I’m adoring the enthusiasm! <3
I’m going to have Myk produce an IC survey in the next couple of days to get a feel for what the attitudes of the remaining Vampire community are. I did start this last week, but apparently my survey didn’t save and I lost all my work. LOL. I’ll start again this week and hopefully have something out by the weekend. (Work is kicking my butt atm).
It’s a professional hazard, I guess. I always start by reviewing what is currently going on with my product before working on solutions to it. My main concern has always been customer feedback because I’m usually trying to sell stuff and it’s my experience that customers who are not buying are doing so because they’re either not the right customers for your product, or, the product has deficiencies which are putting your right customers off.
Apologies for all the boring marketing speak! XD

Re: Active again
I'd love to encourage player marketing teams somehow. Perhaps there's the possibility of coming up with some kind of cash rewards program. This is off the top of my head, but ... somebody comes up with a way to get new players who stick around > those players spend karma > the person who drew them in gets paid 10% real life money of every single purchase from that person they referred.

Re: Active again
I thought you had a system like that already. You currently pay 5 Karma for those players who refer other players, paid out when that referred player reaches level 10 – up to a maximum of 25 Karma I do believe. This is effectively what you have detailed above, is it not? The amounts are different, sure, but the concept is the same.
Time might be better spent advertising what incentives are currently available over introducing new incentives – and critically – to make sure you are measuring the effectiveness of those incentives against a target. Obviously, if you don’t know what success looks like, you can’t very well call yourself a failure. Be kind to yourself!
It’s important to understand that you can only milk the same cow so many times with these kinds of incentive schemes. For example, if those players who are active only have a short reach of friends that would be suitable for the game, then any referral incentives are going to be dried up over time. So you might find something’s successful over a short period and then loses effectiveness the longer you go because people are running out of people to invite.
You should also consider the value of Karma – is this the right kind of incentive? Do people find it valuable enough to do the work required of them? Is there another form of incentive that would get people working?
Like I said, I’m a professional Marketing and I actually specialise in incentive schemes and customer engagement. Not to mention insurance sales. I am a source of marketing and business insight, yours for free – a great deal, if you ask my employer. LOL

Re: Active again
The same, but I guess I'm thinking real money would be incentive for people to put real work into recruiting and keeping people playing. Maybe not though.
I appreciate the offer of help. I might take you up on it if I get more time to pour into Path.

Re: Active again
I'll make you guys a deal: if you can get more players joining and sticking around, and I see that active unique user count increasing, I'll put way more work into the game. We can work out a dev type per week VS active user count conversion rate if you like, and I'll stick to it, as long as nobody fudges the numbers lol.

Re: How Did You Find Path?
Not sure where I saw the discussion on getting more players so I'll post this here...
If you can add yourselves to this vote site somehow, I've know I've joined a few games because of it. Might help Path get more people.

I think this is the thread you wanted, if not let me know and I'll move your post back to where it was.
