As Zodiac pointed out the people down the bar and she rolled her eyes. “Alright, if you will excuse me a moment.” She went down the bar and looked at this one male who was super insistent on getting her attention calling her honey and sweetheart. This would not do. It wasn’t often she used her gifts at work but she crept into the man's mind, having him lean in close as she held his eyes commanding his will to her.

“Listen here and listen close, it is neither cute or funny to be so degrading to women. So for every woman you knowingly degraded, you are going to go home and give yourself a swirly in your own bathroom. We will have no more of this… No drinks for you and security will be escorting you right out the door.” He nodded taking this all in with a ‘yes’um’ for a response.

After pouring a few more basic drinks like beer on tap and a bloodwine, she walked back over to Zodiac with an extra sway to her hips, “How about you try our newest drink and let me know what you think?” She said leaning over the bar close to Zodiac. “It’s a combination of sweet and tart, in the americas they call it something like a jolly rancher.” She served up the drink, with the blood combination, to Zodiac and had one for herself. Another bartender came up behind the bar putting an apron around her waist too, seeing as she was just coming on duty but a few minutes late.

For the moment, she soaked in what Zodiac was wearing giving an approving nod. She did like the show of skin from the other woman. Even more she liked to taste that skin, but that was neither here nor there at this time. She took in every line and curve before meeting back with Zodiacs violet eyes. “I see you have dressed up for a night of fun, what kind of fun were you thinking?” She purred in a sexy kitten kind of way, the words like liquid gold from her lips.

She neglected to mention she’d not yet wrote back. Now… she wouldn’t need to but it was a great way for the two to work out their issues. A kind of clever way, something not aggressive and yet non combative. It seems to have brought the two closer. Now Crissy may sleep but she would try to always wake up for Zodiac, because Zodiac was the first one on her mind after her eyes opened.

She relaxed and watched Crissy handle her customers. She recognized the ‘look’ Crissy was giving one ‘Manly’ male. How many times had she used a similar glance at people to encourage them elsewhere. It was easier than getting physically violent and a lot less attention was called in the process. The ability certainly had its uses. She recalled a bar brawl she found herself in the middle of one evening on the more seedy side of town a couple years back. She stayed in her chair until a pair of multi hundred pound mountains of muscle with one ounce of brains between then both came into range. She stood up, looked each of them in the eye in turn and simply said..

”Protect me.”

And then sat back down as her 2 newest ‘slaves’ beat the hell out of anyone that got near her table while she sat and finished her drink. She wondered what would happen if Crissy and herself tried that trick on each other and laughed in silence. Find them both 3 days later still staring at each other.

“You!”

”No, you!”

“No, you!” and so on.

Crissy’s return snapped her back to reality. The atmosphere was good here tonight if she could drift off and not be watching everything like a hawk. ”That sounds interesting, I think I will.” she replied when the drink was described to her. She remembered Jolly Ranchers. She remembered a lot of food things most vamps forgot either due to necessity or to fit in their ‘I was never human to begin with’ ******** mindset. ”I’d still kill for a good pizza and the right beer again.” she sighed to herself as Crissy sat the drink in front of her.

”No roofies in this, right?” she smirked before taking a taste. She was surprised. So often everything she consumed tasted of blood, but this had flavor. She took a longer pull from the glass, then lit a fresh cigarette when she noticed Crissy staring at her. Now that delicate bubble of calm around her was suddenly cracked as her eyes moved. Inspecting herself. Discreetly checking her cleavage, her skirt. One hand tugging on the high part of her gloves to remove imagined wrinkles.

“I see you have dressed up for a night of fun, what kind of fun were you thinking?”

”Wha?” She blinked in confusion. She hadn’t really considered such a thing. Her attire was different she would admit, and normally she would not be out and about dressed like this at all. While now reserving her normal ‘gypsy’ attire strictly for business and using hoodies and jeans for moving about the town unnoticed she decided to try something different. She had honestly expected Crissy to be laughing at the sight of her so radically different than the norm.

”I don’t know. Figured I’d just…” She took a gulp of her drink as she tried to think. Now she felt like every set of eyes in the club were centered on her and it was a feeling she hated. Her original survival skills dictated she be very visible to all around. More of a case of ‘Look at me when I WANT you to look at me’ and then ignore me while I do vampire stuff. The very last thing she wanted now was attention not on her terms.

”Figured you might be amused seeing me like this.” She sighed nervously as she fought the urge to bolt from the place. She should go home, change her clothes, or just lock the door and hide. Crissy could come visit if she wanted to later. Or not. Panic was boiling inside of her now.

It wasn’t hard to see the switch flip in her head. Confident and daring to anxiety ridden and nervous. She reached over the counter and gingerly touched her hand.

“You look more than amazing. You are sexy in this, in your normal clothes and in more so in nothing at all” She winked to Zo hoping to squash that feeling before it became too much and she darted from the building. Another bartender, making two, came around the bar and tied a apron around her waist. Confident there was enough people covering, Crissy untied her own apron throwing it into the to be washed bucket. With a spin on her heels she made her way around the bar to Zodiac. No one need be the wiser she mentally called the second girl, a young vampire who needed a job, into work tonight to be the second bartender so she could cut out early. Or stay and enjoy the night as a customer. Who knew!!

Sauntering up to Zodiac, beside her with a drink in hand, She whispered into the woman's mind, “Any plans for this evening?” There was a certain air about her this evening, one filled with adventure that seemed she wanted to explore different things. “I do love this look on you.” Crissy took off her jacket and let her hair out of the bun with a shake. It was weird how she fit all that hair into as tight a bun but she it came out, it hit her waistline. Most people didn’t expect that much hair to be wound like that. “I am yours for the night, found some coverage.” She nodded to the new girl serving drinks around without ignoring people like Crissy had been.

The touch of the hand anchored her. She looked at Crissy as she spoke and felt her calm returning. She was not under a microscope being studied by the world at large, thankfully. Such comments were rare to her. Not that people didn’t notice her appearance but she never put stock in it when she heard their comments. It was all nonsense and fluff. The kind of things people say in order to lull one into doing something for them for free or get you to drop your guard.

But no, she decided as she calmed down, not Crissy. They knew each other for far too long for the woman to be playing games like that. ”Thank you” her thoughts whispered softly. She managed a smile as the woman joined her on the customer side of the bar. It amazed her sometimes how the woman could get all that hair to co operate like she did. It reminded her of something her grandfather jested about. ’50 pounds in a 5 pound bag’ except this ‘bag’ never popped. Absently her fingers reached out and caught a few strands of it and felt the texture. Like herself, Crissy had to have a cleanliness compulsion to keep all this hair so clean.

”I had thought,” she began slowly as she toyed with the hair a few moments before letting go. ”Since I was not busy for once, I thought I’d give Ginny’s Delivery Service a break.” She took another sip and a fresh drag from her cigarette. She nudged the park towards Crissy if she wished one. “Did you notice the scar on her foreleg, by the way? First time she zigged when she should have zagged, I am sad to say. Got tagged by one of those monsters she loves to tease. If age is catching up to her, I wish she’d stay home more, but she is like us. She will do whatever she damn well pleases.”

“But back to the point,”
Zodiac focused again. ”Despite all the hoe jokes and such, some of our correspondence is getting into heavy subjects. Things to discuss, questions to answer. Instead of wearing my poor cat to a frazzle I thought I’d find you and we could talk face to face. Just relax, chill, maybe dance and have drinks. Not saying we’ll get to everything, but it would be a nice start.” the tone of her mindspeak was hopeful. ”All I know is that no matter what we are to each other, this un-life is a bit easier and more fun with you being part of it. Even if we are screaming at each other, I don’t think I’d survive without you being around.”

When Zodiac reached out and touched her hair, she got as giddy as a teenager. She stared into the woman’s violet eyes, they were gorgeous as ever. The way she was carrying herself, that touch of confidence she seemed to gain back, made her even more beautiful. When she spoke of Ginny, Cristiana grabbed a glass behind Zodiac leaning over her to take it. Her body momentarily brushed Zodiac’s arm. “I didn’t notice that, but she is in the office by the fireplace.”

As she talked about the notes going back and forth, Cristiana nodded sipping slowly. She fluttered her lashed over the glass at the woman sitting there before her. She offered Zodiac a hand. “Maybe this would be better spoken of where we didn’t have to yell over or try to decipher what you are saying over the mass of voices in here. We can find table in the vip section, I can make it quiet in there.”

Part of her was terrified of what would happen between them. This was almost crucial to them, if things would go on from there. She relaxed and smiled, perking up with the last thing Zodiac said, because it was true, without her this un-life wasn’t worth living. She was the ray of moonlight in the dark and stormy night.

“Instead of the vip we can go somewhere else?”
She wiggled her brows at the woman, “You know my Beta apartment is right across the street and there is a balcony.” The offer was thrown out there, and there was also the animals in the house. It had been forever since she had been to that apartment. But here or there, anywhere was better as long as Zodiac was there with her.

An eyebrow raised in surprise. Apparently Crissy misunderstood her meaning when she said shouting. The mystic was referring to how their last face to face conversation at the Teahouse ended up. Zodiac still felt bad about how that all turned out, but if they hadn’t let out all their anger then, she doubted they would be talking now.

”The VIP room? Your apartment?” A smirk appeared on her lips briefly. ”Trying to get me all alone for some nefarious purpose?” She giggled as she put a hand on Crissy;s shoulder. Her eyes flashed seductively for a moment before returning her attention to her drink again.

”It’s…interesting to see you so direct, my dear.” It was. Sometimes Crissy could say so much and not be specific. Of course her own decision to suddenly come see the woman face to face was direct and impulsive. Talking was talking, but hadn’t Zodiac taken the game to another level by being here? She was still conflicted on a couple of things that needed to be discussed and the pair of them alone could be a bad thing if agreement had not been reached, but a part of her didn’t care. She was feeling complete for the first time in ages.

”I am quite comfortable here for the moment, but if you wish to migrate to another setting we can do that, as long as there is booze.” she laughed again.

Zodiac finished her drink and made sure her things were in place before shouldering her purse. She then turned on the barstool and looked the woman dead in the eyes.

”Is your call, dollface.” she said as she planted a soft, fleeting kiss upon Crissy’s lips.

A cheeky grin splayed across her lips, even as the woman kissed her lips she kissed back thinking of these said nefarious things. Her lips kissed back but instead of pulling back she brushed past the cheek to whisper into her ear, “As much as I love nefarious and salacious things with you,” She gave a soft moan in remembrance, “There is much we need to discuss about us, as you said. And I very much agree.”

After pulling back, her tongue mindlessly ran across her lips to moisten them before she swallowed a bit of her own drink. With a motion of her chin, she nodded toward the V.I.P. room, hoping Zodiac would like the improvements to the room that were made. It really wasn’t much of anything but a sliding down door to block out the rest of the club. Even as they spoke, or made googly eyes to each other, one of the security men were in the room clearing it out for them. The two would find comfort, quiet and a place to talk things out. Mainly she wanted to apologise to Zodiac, it was wrong of her to keep disappearing over every little thing. She got a hangnail, fall asleep. Zodiac was right, it was time to stop that crap.

She really did want things to work out between them because Zodiac for so long had a huge chunk of her heart. She had tried so hard to deny it, to hide it and to stuff it down into the bowels of her guts but perhaps that is why her marriage hadn’t worked. She was always with the wrong one. It could possibly be true. But she knew without Zo, she was nothing here in the town. She began to weave in and out of the crowd carrying her drink and a spare bottle the bartender left on the counter for her to take. There was always more booze in the room.

There was specially made booze for vampires that they did not throw up. Every bar seemed to make theirs differently. Some bars got humans drunk then withdrew the blood, a good method but the flavor didn’t hold the impact and didn’t get the patrons drunk as well. Other bars mixed the booze into the blood after it was out of the body, she found that just watered down the blood. Now Crissy, she took a few hours a week and performed a ritual that infused the alcohol to the blood so packed the flavor in and did not water it down. That is what made hers stand apart from the rest and brought even the lowest back into the club.

So with the bottle in hand she waited by the door, for Zodiac to slip in past her. In the other hand she took the remote from the bouncer who passed by her as he finished clearing out the room. The remote would drop the security door down from the ceiling and block off the exit. A button on the wall inside a panel would open it or the remote which was only given to certain employees for the club. Not even all of the employee list was privy to the remote only because the ones she trusted with it, would know when to drop it down in an emergency and when not to open the door. In this case, once that door closed, they knew they damn well better not lift it unless the place was burning down to the ground.. And even then it was still a chance Crissy would get mad at them. Her temper could at times be worse than a fire.

”Ah, the Vip room?”

Zodiac did not say ‘V.I.P’ As most would. The girl had a dim view of anyone who felt they were so important that they needed a room all to themselves. Especially in public. If one came outside then they were exposing themselves to the public eye, so why hide away in a room when you could just stay home and have the same results. ”Vip, vip, vip,” She giggled.

She stood up and smoothed down her dress in reflex. The mini had been a bad call she finally decided. Outside of her eyes and hair, the girl did not enjoy fussing over herself every 5 minutes. Making sure every seam was in place and nothing was showing was wasted time as she had been raised. Wear what was comfortable and functional and forget the rest. She picked up her glass and followed Crissy down the hall to the ‘Vip’ room.

”Vip, vip, vip.” She smirked at the woman as she slipped past her into the room. There had been some changes, but the overall was quite pleasant to the eye. The Metronome had gone through several changes over time. (She remembered helping design one of the logos the club had used in the past) but that was a good thing. Something like a club had to evolve and change to keep the interest of the paying customers so they would return. Other clubs likewise did the same and those that didn’t was soon closed down.

”It looks good,” she admitted. She turned to face Crissy and saw the remote in her hand. ”And what is that for?” Zodiac hooked her purse on the back of a chair and sat her glass down on the nearest table. ”Oh no, let me guess. Some six inch thick door slams and locks us in while the bondage rack comes out of one of the wall panels?” she laughed. ”Sorry, is not very original. I’ve been in other clubs that have things like that already.”

Zodiac took a seat and crossed her legs. Even just with Crissy she could not shake the feeling of self consciousness totally. Her eyes darted about till she found an ashtray to use and pulled it near her. ”So, what’s on your mind-Dungeon Mistress.” She was babbling now. This was not what she had prepared for when she decided to come out for the evening.

The remote did drop down a door it was mostly to conduct business in private, there was no dominatrix toys popping from other areas of the room. In a way she hoped it would not have been too much a disappointment to Zodiac. But when she seen Zodiac sitting there, even as the door dropped down her eyes followed the legs upward practically salivating over her. However she sat down in the chair nearest her. “For starters I thought we could talk about what needing airing out.” Then … who knew what would happen..

“I know what we are going to talk about is going to be difficult for us both.” She reached out and took Zodiac’s hand. “But I firmly believe you are worth it and that is not something that is said lightly. What is the thing with the apples at the top of the tree? And being worth it?” God Cristiana was making a fool of herself. She was being a babbling idiot to Zodiac, one of the many ways she showed she was nervous.

Fidgeting around, she wasn’t being disingenuous here. Her anxiety was maxed out about how this could go. She was never nervous about losing but she had already lost so much … this matter more. There was a moment of silence, a comfortable silence because it was Zodiac and everything was just comfortable between them.

After those letters she had tried hard to look at this from Zodiac’s perspective. It wasn’t too hard to do, everyone fell asleep, everyone left. It was a mirror of her own life except Cristiana actually knew the one relationship had come to an end. There had always been one person she never could say no to or resist. If the woman asked her to jump, she did it. Because she cared, but was that going to be enough for Zodiac, enough for them? She didn’t know what else to do to save them and that is where the anxiety came from.

The problem from her end was she thought Zodiac was too good for her. Cristiana had done nefarious things from being a mistress to someone married, she had cheated on a former lover with the man she married, and that hadn’t been the first time she did that. With Zo it was all different, she was different. People didn’t turn her head like they did in the past. Her vision was tunneled. It wasn’t some storybook romance and that was quite alright, there was no expectation of that. A little kink, a spank and tank here and there but she wanted more.

This was important to her, Zodiac was important to her. She could tell the woman a million ways but this here was far more important than a fling somewhere. How did she portray that? Was it what Zo wanted too? This was difficult and awkward. And so worth it if Zodiac. She smiled looking at her wondering what she wanted to talk about and giving her the chance to lay it out there. After all this was what she wanted….. Go after what you want, right? Right.

As the door slid into place, she watched Crissy closely. Did she have to tell her the ‘bondage’ thing was just a joke? She hoped not. Zodiac knew both of them had anxiety to spare, so she kept that comment to herself and stayed silent. Her fingers curled around Crissy’s hand gently as the woman began to speak. Yes, this was long overdue even if there wasn’t hints of romantics involved. Their relationship, in Zo’s view, reminded her of something she had seen as a child. Her grandfather called it a ‘super ball’ which on close inspection looked like any other play toy (outside of the fact it felt different) until he demonstrated it inside one of the trailers.

He threw the thing at the bare floor and POW! The ball was everywhere. Off the walls, ceiling, floor, and the furniture. That is how the years with Crissy had been. Two super balls bouncing around in the same area. Both going crazy as they zip by each other until that rare moment when they hit each other. The result sent the two off again with renewed energy and fury. So many gaps in between, but when fate put the two of them together in the same spot it was an experience one did not forget so easily. They collided so seldom, due to their natures, but when they did…

”The level of difficulty dictates how much the prize is actually worth at times.” her thoughts whispered as the barest hint of color touched her cheeks. ”You paint me too perfectly, I think. Dear. Sometimes the top most apples are the best, but sometimes due to where they hang they get the most abuse. Picked at by birds and such. Perhaps still very sweet at the core, but it takes a bit of effort to get past the outside. So if you wish to compare me to such an apple, let us be honest. Neither of us is perfection, but we are blessed to realize we both think that about each other.”

”I know,” she continued. ”We both have quirks that would set most people crazy trying to deal with them. I have told you some of mine, so you go first. What is it about me that totally gets on your nerves. There has to be something.”

She let go of Crissy’s hand long enough to open the bottle and add to their drinks. Just a half a glass. She felt the beginnings of a buzz nibbling at the back of her brain. Zo had forgotten the Met’s drinks had something extra to them and the last thing she wanted was to be laughing in the middle of this conversation.
