The whole reason the game is as easy as it is now was to accomodate writers that cant game... As there are millions more gamers than writers... If you want the game to grow you should aim at gamers as they will have no problem playing, and would be more likely to stick aroundLancaster wrote:Maybe try catering more toward a writerly crowd than a gaming one? if it's the complexity of the game that's putting people off, especially if they're not that into writing, it might be beneficial to try get writers who might be tempted by the activity on the forum? Because we have been quite active in the writing department.
Could we not open up an advertising forum for guests? There are so many other places we could advertise if they were able to reciprocate on our forum.
Maybe even tumblr?
I kind of agree with this. Writers come, see the complexity of the game, and aren't prepared. Gamers are used to complexity of games.Mordechai wrote:The whole reason the game is as easy as it is now was to accomodate writers that cant game... As there are millions more gamers than writers... When you start, you are thrown onto the grid, not the forum. Suggestion. If someone selects "Roleplayer/Writer" have it send them to the forum.
This is a fair point, and something we've considered. I would add to this: 1000 gamers are more likely to contain 10 roleplayers, compared to 100 roleplayers containing 10 gamers. We realise it's easier to bring in people as gamers, and then encourage them towards roleplay (not just written roleplay, but roleplay as a way of participating in the game).Cliff Worthington wrote:I kind of agree with this. You can't force writers to game, or gamers to write.

You get bored of all over the Internet everyone having every power that could possibly be conceived and no weakness. This game limits that and makes it more of a fair role-playing field added with the ability to actually battle with the grid mechanics.(which could be why some role players don't stay they want to feel super special and God mod all the time) It takes away the horrible ramped it Godmodding that runs most forms.
Which I think is quite an awesome idea, by the way, David. Which is my main drawl to this game to be completely honest. I got hooked on rp from Kira and Doc, and a few other players that were really cool to me when I first started. Over time I've made more friends and gotten into a lot more role-plays.
Path s a certain type of player game, I don't see this game that complicated. I think you guys don't realize you're looking for a niche of a group of people which is kind of hard. Gamers are used to something a lot more complicated and interactive in this day and age. So catching the younger crowd is a little bit more difficult being that there used to a lot more in your face interface. Role players love to role-play they either like that style of form or they don't. That particular niche fits them or it doesn't. It just kind how goes.
