Her amber eyes lit up and, violin still in hand, she slipped from her stool over to her fellow auctionee and smiled, stepping up on his block. She offered a hand. "I am Dhara, and I thank you kindly for the opportunity." Introductions made, she sat on the red velvet and reached for a book. She carefully placed her violin by her side and lovingly caressed the book she held in her hands. She traced the cover, getting a feel for the shape and size. Long fingers opened the book and she inhaled the scent of ink and paper, sighing in soft pleasure she began to read, the sounds of the auction fading as she lost herself amongst the pages.

Alex considered her options as she sipped on her drink. Tonight she was having Whiskey Sours which came with cherries. The Allurist loved cherries. She was saving them for later as she nursed her drinks for the night. If her own bidding was to suddenly get a lot more interesting than it currently was, Alex would make a show of enjoying the cherries later.. she even knew a trick she could do with the stems. Of course, it would have to be for the right audience. The young lad in front of her was a pleasure to look at must not for her to try to hold. He looked much more like someone that might find magic with someone like Myk, who was already bidding. THe Allurist grinned at that, and decided to stop bidding against Myk... and start rooting for him.

"You are worth much more, I am sure, but I'll be bowing out for now." She nodded at the other bidders and looked back at The dark haired youth with a cheery grin. "We can discuss times and fees for a sitting after the show, if you like?"

Every listened to the bids and smiled as she said, "I'm sure you'll be in great company regardless of the bidder, I'll step back for the time being."

There was so much interest in this boy that it had become something of a bidding war. Myk couldn't help but notice that he was amongst familiar faces, which might have made him feel a little shy if his thoughts were floating above his head in comic strip fashion. Instead he wore a smile as brash as the Cheshire Cat and announced another bid. "20,000 then!"

Yasu’s expression was fond as the woman tucked herself away with one of the books from the table. While he had an appreciation for rare texts, the ones he’d brought had been for the touch and perusal of the public. It would have been a sore loss to spend the night with books brought and not see them enjoyed, as he had one on his own person, though he had set it aside once the bids had begun out of politeness. For once the spectre haunting him was silent, scoffing now and then, but otherwise wordless during the proceedings. The numbers climbing were somewhat hard to believe, and he wouldn’t deny a small hint of nerves as he questioned his own worth momentarily. What might these folks expect to pay in such numbers, or was the simple act of spending money an enjoyable high for them?

He couldn’t quite understand it, but he wouldn’t dare mock it. It was more puzzling than anything, and perhaps a little flattering. He had made some limited conversation earlier, and still nursed the remains of his apple juice with small sips. Some had backed out now, offering complements that he could only respond to with a bow of his head and a quiet murmur of thanks. He wasn’t so sure he could agree with such statements, but they were still appreciated. Offering Alexandrea a pleasant, almost smile, the corners of his eyes crinkled. “That certainly sounds like it can be arranged,”he agreed, and offered her a business card. On one side, it held information for his book store, and on the other: contact information for him as a dojo teacher. The number was the same to reach him, either way. “Just in case we miss one another,” he supplied politely.

Another one bowed out, meeting a duck of his head in response. Though they’d spoken before the bids had fallen, it seemed the woman would be calling her limit. He didn’t mind this of course. Hers had been the first call on the table, and he could feel some gratefulness for that. It seemed the only active ones remaining were the woman who now enjoyed one of his books, and the curiously cheerful man. He could hear the rise of song, and see others beginning to perform to draw the attention of bidders. He wasn’t quite so gifted himself in such performances. He thought over his own list of talents, but for now he simply observed the others with a ghost of a smile on his lips. Perhaps there was one thing he could do, though he'd wait a little longer before tempting himself to partake in such a showcase.

Nursing his drink slowly, he admired the proceedings that excelled his expectations.

Myk's voice brought her from the pages of the book and she blinked owlishly for a moment. 20 thousand. She should bow out, but.... books. And conversation. And books. She adored Myk, even though they hadn't spoken in years. In fact, the last time they'd really talked, she had still been human. Nevertheless, she still adored the man. But her adoration for her casual friend was no match for the allure of books. "21000, if you please." She gave Myk a cheeky smile and a playful wink before her head dipped back to her book. A stray lock of blue hair fell forward and she absent mindedly blew the curl from her face with a puff of air.

Was he naturally competitive? Probably.

Was there justifiable reason as to why he wanted to win this time? Not likely.

Still, he had to try his luck. And the money raised tonight was supposedly going to a good cause. He glanced at his competition, to the woman who always had such fantastic hair, and mirrored her demure yet cheeky smile. Pewter eyes glistened fondly at Dhara, yet he was determined to outbid her.

"How about 25k then?"

She didn't miss the look, nor the smile. Now it was a game then. She laughed softly and peered at Myk, arching her brows playfully. She gave a slight shake of her head, as if to resign from the bidding, only to speak. "28,000 then." This time it wasn't a small smile but an out right grin at her friend.

Eirik made his way into the auctions. He maybe blind, but he knew where he was going that and he has his trusty thrall with him. Walking through the area he heard people making bets on someone. Listening he leans towards his thrall who tells him about the person on auction. Smiling he has his thrall show him where the young man is. "If you do not mind someone with enhanced senses bidding on you I am going to bid 33k on you.' He did not mention he was blind even though it was dark his eyes where hidden behind dark glasses. He would not back down from a bid.

Yasu was silent through the proceedings still. What looked like two friends passed bids between one another with such open expressions, the banter between them light. It was a pleasing, if awkward sight to behold, knowing he was part of this situation in some way. He still found the whole process baffling. How folks would throw money to such an event, to find fun in it. It wasn't the time with him they sought entirely, such things could have been gained easily enough without numbers. It wasn't solely the enticement of a charitable enthusiasm either. Perhaps some combination of the two had turned the auction into a gamble, a game, and these numbers meant little to them in the face of such entertainment.

Whatever the case, Yasu found himself enjoying the evening as well. Watching such lighthearted expressions and taking the time to enjoy his own moments, not to mention the glance that caught the eyes of others that never walked alone, much like himself. There was simple magic in the air, and his gaze softened slightly for a moment. A voice, a third bidder caught his attention, and he puzzled over the man that wore shades despite the dimness of light. His words were questionable, though it brought to mind a theory charged by the earlier announcement.

It was a small shock to know that such beings were present tonight, and that the chance of one of them being a bidder was high. Yasu had quickly adjusted to this knowledge and accepted it though. He had no conflict with the folk, and had his suspicions that some he'd crossed paths with in the path had been of a similar ilk, and generally pleasant to be around. Thus, even with the theory that this man may have admitted himself as one of them, he simply offered a small bow of his head that was entirely pleasant and polite.

"It's a free bid," he answered, simply and somewhat ironic in his words. "I see no reason to mind." A rather.. unintentional joke made that he didn't quite catch on to was present there.
