Perhaps that’s removing PXP gain while in a battle? I could also see some sort of mechanism that autoboots if you’re not really engaging your opponent.
Agreed.
Could the same idea (no daily blood loss) be applied to faction battles?
Those don't take place over a period of days, as they have turn timers.
Also, I really hope traps can be set, that'd be useful considering I have so many I could just litter the battlefield and wait. It would also give people who craft a little extra in a fight, since otherwise they're at the disadvantage.
I think you just hit the nail on the head as to why they aren't allowed in RP fights. You could just litter the battlefield and wait. These fights (from a roleplay perspective) happen over the space of a few minutes, so pausing the fight to lay a trap doesn't make sense.

What if the person purposely put the traps ahead of time. Because that's what I actually wanted to do with my thread. It was him set up a place he spent hours rearranging setting up traps. So that when they came for him and it should be multiple characters that he could use the traps and force them into one-on-one combat. And if you took the time to lay the trap the other person would have the time to shoot you which is a gamble.

There is that, if it is a role-play thing then maybe it'd make sense to use traps, but maybe it can only be done during a set amount of time or in which there was no conflict.

There's no ahead of time, in almost all RP threads. RP initiated battles happen in the middle of a roleplay thread, so from an RP perspective, it's a fight that breaks out on the fly, usually without warning. I get that in your thread you'd have warning, so you'd be able to set up traps to hurt the other player characters who are attacking, but that's an anomaly that would hardly ever happen, so we can't change the whole system for that one example. Typically it's unfair to use traps in a RP fight.

Coding that allowance for the sake of the 0.001% of times that people pre-arrange it to allow one side to lay traps before anyone attacks ... well that wouldn't be a great use of time, for something that'd maybe get used once.

I am not saying you should I was asking. But don't see the difference then how happens on the normal gird. You suddenly get attacked. Fight on. Hit them run to a spot lay a trap lay in wait. But the work you have put in might not be worth it so I don't blame you. But if you could use them I totally would every time. I might even have start doing B&E's. I learned a lot. Thanks for the info.
In the wiki it stated path not really made for live fighting. It normally comes down to who has the best internet. So don't seems the rp gird would be any different? But that just me I learning about the game

The best way to utilize traps in a live fight is to already have them set up in locations you can flee to. Which requires planning ahead. Even with a fast connection if you are live fighting you won't have much time to set traps.
By the time you click to inventory, select the right tab, scroll down and select the trap? You could have been killed, lol. Even keeping tabs open with the right page loaded doesn't help too much and it's going to require resetting that page every time you move. And using multiple tabs in that way is frowned upon.
When you used to be able to lay multiple traps in one square, it was a different story, so long as you planned to stay sitting in that one square and defend yourself right there.
Jumping square to square? Yeaaah, no. lol. Messing around with traps in that scenario is wasteful of your time and attention which need to be focused on getting the jump on your opponent the second they enter your square, and moving out again as quickly as you can.

The RP grid fights are only live if both players decide to 'go live' so to speak. Otherwise, they are turn based because you're waiting for the other person to move. But from a RP perspective, they don't happen over the space of days.

I can see perhaps proxy mines being used quickly, as you could just throw them down as you're running away. So maybe one day if there's a tool bar of sorts we could make it so that the quick traps can be set whenever.

Ok so the coding time really is what got me on this. So not really gonna be pushing for anything on it at the moment, this is just another comment.
Especially since you mentioned proxy mines possible being used, maybe it'd make sense to also allow use of things like knockout bombs? I always wondered why they couldn't be used on other players, guess that could also have to do with the coding though. And of course, wouldn't want an instant win, so it'd have to be treated more as a stat effect I guess.
