Could I buy this relic, equip it when I go to grind, then unequip it, or will it stay on permanently?
Will it take up a relic slot?
Just covering any ways this can be abused.
Relics are being updated as the avatar system is improved upon. Eventually you'll have only a certain number of slots for relics, and relics will only work if they are equipped. But you'll also be able to enchant weapons and clothing and armour, for other boosts. So basically, unequipping it will cause you to get regular loot drops again.
O.O but like most people I have like over 15 relics that all do different things. How is that going to work?

When the new system is implemented, people will need to pick and choose what relic effects they really want. You'll be able to wear more than one relic though, and the relic restriction won't happen before enchanting is a thing, which will allow you to enchant clothing, weapons, and make super relics. So it will balance out by letting you go from a broad variety of small effects to more customization.

I probably should start a new thread..but I'm a little worried about that. Too me, personally, that seems like more work than I want to do. I hack with one, with that same one I run business, then I also kill things. That means I'm going to have to switch relics on Just one Character multiple times a day. I've honestly too many characters(my choice) to do that to. Even if I just had the 4character thing...I'm still too lazy to do that

With respect.. I hope you are wrong, because that is going lessen the enjoyment of game play.
I have a baby ritualist.
She needs a titan to carry all her stuff, but she needs to the Whisper Hood to fill in some spots; then she needs Spagyrist so she doesn't lose stuff. That's 3 she needs. IT will be so frustrating to switch and forth.. back and forth.. that it makes doing rituals a pain in the ***.
Then there are the relics that are passive.. Sentinel`s Gauntlet and Ring of Danger Intuition. If you're character is a fight.. and they have both.. How do you pick?
That is not making the game more fun; that is making it more frustrating. More tedious.
I really hope you are wrong about it being just one.

Don't forget the bark for plants.
That's four slots for a person who rits. I don't mean to be negative but I honestly see relics becoming a pita...and sales going down on Then because most won't want to switch many times a day.

Guys I think we have a misunderstanding. He said:
You'll be able to wear more than one relic though.
So you'll be able to wear more than one, but you're going to be limited in the number that can be equipped.

I read it as each item will have a body slot. Head, arms, hands, neck, ect... is that right?

I'll be splitting the relic discussion into it's own thread momentarily.

David and I haven't fully decided on exactly how we're going to limit the relics (and super relics), but that was one of the ideas we were tossing around. I. E. 2 bracelet slots, multiple ring slots, a necklace slot. That would probably make the most sense.
Ultimately we're going to have to restrict the number of relics due to super relics and enchanted clothing and weapons. Otherwise a character with 20 super relics (for example) would be insanely insanely OP. So it's one part pragmatics, and one part strategy.

Can you give an example of what a Super Relic might be?
