Im not saying I'll do it, but what if a player wants to play a character that doesn't support the community and decide to launch an attack on the parade?

Im just playing devil's advocate here. I do fully support this idea and happy to see RP ideas, especially one like this, but I'm also aware that if someone's character does launch an attack, it could trigger someone oocly. I've witnessed it first hand, and seen the person called out and harrassed over it. (Not here, but another game).

Everyone has a right to RP their character how they want, i just want reassurance that if something does go negatively, the player will not be a victim of negative backlash.

This is a dark game, and bad things happen frequently.

I think this is a really good discussion to be having. Personally, I don't have a problem with characters who are against LGBT rights.

I mean a big part of why Path's story appeals to me is that there are a lot of parallels between vampires and queer people. I don't really see it as any different to a paladin, for example, who hates any and all vampires, and would attack a pro-vampire (or pro-peace) event.

That being said, I can see why someone would find that triggering. I think as long as the players involved are respectful of each other, it shouldn't be a problem? Ultimatley, Path is all about the story, and both David and I agree that the best stories are those rooted in conflict, with complex characters who have to face adversity. So on that level, I think the parallel I mentioned could make for good writing.

I see a lot of conflict that can happen, and even be impactful. Especially since vampires and the community could be hot topics in HR. Especially depending on if it's a vampire attacking, or a human. And if they get caught. It could swing people for or against vampires.

Examples.

Human attacks the parade. Vampires protect the humans. Humans see vampires in a better light

Human attacks the parade. Vampires protect humans, but the community still goes against them, saying they are the reason they were attacked.

Vampires attack. Vampires fight back and protect the humans..ect.

See where I'm going?

If I'm able to do it and if I can be around and on at times, then I'd love Himiko to join in...

Been gone and will continue to be gone until this semester has been done, dusted, kicked, burned, dipped in acid, deep fried, drowned, and buried. I am currently gunning for those high distinction marks in school and unfortunately will not be around to plan or host any of these as I'd hoped. In light of that, I'm just popping in to express how amazing it is to see the amount of interest generated by this thread. I encourage anyone who is keen on taking on a GM / host / sponsor role for June's LGBTQ+ Month, to continue sharing their ideas on this thread and keep being awesome.

I love these ideas, if someone does end up organising a thread one or two of mine would be keen on joining or sponsoring with businesses i.e. prizes for best parade float etc.

1) Possibly a Pride parade in thread form?

Just had a thought about the parade idea (which I love)... how about a contest for best float and let anyone enter a float who has written out building one? In groups or solo. Not just Businesses, clubs and other organizations, anyone creative who wanted to show joy and support for the LGBTQ community.

I'll put up a Patron's Pin for the winner. (yes, I asked David if we can give those away and he said yes. :D <3 )
YES! Floats! Make a real parade as part of it. A good way to set the moods and tempo of things to come.
