Gideon never considered himself a possessive person. There had never been a need to be possessive. Every encounter with the opposite gender never lasted long enough due to the guy just passing through the city, leaving things short and sweet, or he wasn't interested in whatever she had to offer him.

But this was different. While he didn't know how he felt about Mona, or if he even felt anything at all for her. But Gideon damn sure knew how he felt about things that were his. That was his child inside of her and if he knew what he would do for...say, his Bible, or his favorite gun, Gideon could only imagine what he would do for his kid. It wasn't the motion of his arm being lifted off her that woke him, but the displacement of weight that woke him up. He remained in bed, watched Mona's back retreat from the room and just listened for sounds she made, wondering what she was up to.

When she returned to the bed, Gideon scooted over, then once again draped his arm around Mona's midsection. "Everything alright? Need something?" He asked, while propping himself up on the opposite elbow. "Just say or ask anytime." A statement that seemed so easy for anyone to say, but meant more than just a late night run to Taco Bell or wherever.

Mona felt the panic wash over her as his arm slid possessively around her waist once more. Her body stayed relaxed she had always been good at masking her feelings. You didn't get raised where she did without putting up a good front and being hard to read. Outside she had always been able to stay one cool cucumber while the most horrific things were happing around her. This however was different this was her life that was becoming this ... Nightmare ... Ok Mona nightmare is a bit ******* harsh she thought to herself ... But this seemed to be taking a turn she hadn't counted on. Mona had always been alone Me myself and I ... no tag a long's.
She liked Gideon what little she knew him and he was no slouch in the bed but this seemed like they were on the road to setting up house in some form . Mona did not know how to handle it . Raising a baby and here my god what was she thinking . Mona rolled over and looked him in the eyes . " You want the truth I'm ******* scared "

Gideon misconstrued what she would be scared of. He assumed vampires, and to him it was a fair point once his mind shifted in that direction. He nodded his head, and stared back into her eyes. "Yeah. I get it. It'll be okay." He assured her, because there was no way in hell he was going to let some leech get close to his kid. "We'll figure things out." He sat up and pulled the sheet off from around him so he could scoot to the edge of the bed; her edge. "More traps or something." He nodded in thought.

"Think we should leave the city for a while? Until the baby comes around?" Gideon didn't really want to leave the city, or give up the fight against the species, but he did have to take into consideration what Mona wanted and was thinking. She did things a different way; and she was the one that was pregnant. "Maybe get a cabin for a few months on the outskirts?" Still close enough to be in the city, but close enough out of it. Seemed like best of both worlds. "What would you like to do? I'll make it happen." Gideon said as he found both knees with both elbows and looked at Mona from the side.

Traps run flee the city hide What the **** was he going on about ... " I'm not afraid of ******* Fangers ...my god my whole life I've been alone ... I couldn't count on my family. I took care of me ... I've never had to take care of anyone or anything besides myself. I could do whatever I wanted ... This isn't about my freedom being taken away its I'm going to be ******* responsible for another human being Me ... Miss major fucked up." She looked at him levelly. " I mean seriously I wouldn't put me in charge of anything and now I have the biggest one in the world ... " She fell silent. Her eyes traveled over him. She hadn't elaborated on his part that had contributed to the balled up knot in her stomach. The fact that they were now in this together and she was used to being a loner. She didn't know how to feel about it or him. She knew how he was able to make her feel for a short while and just getting to know him other than the sex was good.

It was all rolling on like a freight train balling down the line fast and Mona couldn't see if there was anything on the tracks.

Gideon was way off base, but then how could he know what she was thinking about? He didn't know anything about her other than a few things. Five at best. She was pregnant with his kid from what was supposed to be a one night stand-two at most. Her name, that she owned some paper called 'The Sun,' was a paladin-like him and that Mona was a great lay. The best he's had in a long while. Not that Gideon has had a lot.

Mona started talking about her past and he just nodded. He couldn't relate. His parents had been pretty good in terms of parenting. They looked after he and his brother like any average American family. Sure, they had their **** ups, but so did everyone else. When she started talking as if Mona were going to be going at this alone, Gideon moved off the bed. "I get it. But you're not doing it alone. That's my kid in there too." He said, as if he needed to remind Mona of that. "Look-just because **** isn't conventional, doesn't mean I'm going to hit it and run. I'm here, that counts for something, yeah?" Gideon reached out a hand for her arm and pulled her towards him. "Whatever we are, or aren't, doesn't matter. I'm not leaving you, or our kid to do this alone. However that means, or whatever you want it to mean." It was just that simple for him, and hopefully, her too. There was no reason to fight, because Gideon was here for however long she wanted him to be around, however she needed him to be around.
