Marshall wouldn't have made it to the door if he'd tried and not because of anything she had done. He inhaled deeply through his nose and exhaled through his mouth a few times in an attempt to alieve the vertigo. He felt his knees starting to give away, he knew he was about to pass out if he didn't sit and soon, but he'd told her he was leaving. He knew she had said... something... but he hadn't been listening, he was so intent on NOT passing out.
Opening his eyes, he saw her raise one hand towards him, felt her give him a small push back towards the seat he'd just vacated. He landed in the seat harder than he should have, but he was grateful to be sitting once again. His knees had given out at the precise time she'd given the push. The only thing giving him away was his ungraceful landing in the chair. At least he hadn't landed in the floor.
He faintly remembered her asking if he wanted more coffee on the house and shook his head slightly in the negative, which wasn't a good idea. The head shake made the room swim once again and he once again grabbed the table top to keep from falling out of the chair. Finally he managed to whisper "I'll be ok." he was lying, of course. He needed a place warm to sleep, the money he'd saved up to get here was gone. Things had been more expensive here than he had imagined.
When he heard her ask if he had a place to stay, his first instinct was to say, no, that he had a place. Then he glanced outside, she was right, it looked brutally cold out there so he sighed heavily. You've not refused her generosity so far and it's not like you're begging her for all of this, Mars. Just roll with it, ya dumbass! She HAD to know he wasn't well, that... something was wrong with him, so he ventured a smile and replied in a stronger, yet still low voice. "I did have a place, but they kicked me out the other evening when I said I was broke. Been sleeping when and wherever I can for the past few nights. Hence my appearance."

Mortll couldn't let this dude slip away. If he went out on the streets he would be dead before the morning . She couldn't let him die without testing her abilities on him first . She sure as **** wasn't going to put him up in one of her places . She fished out her phone and found West hotel and paid for the room for a week . " Look man its brutal out there West hotel is just a block away. I have suite there I reserve for business associates . Why don't you take it for a week. Until you get someplace to stay. " She looked at him levelly and the question came out before she had the chance to stop it or think about how rude it might be "You're sick aren't you ?"

Marshall couldn't believe his luck, this total stranger had just made him an offer he couldn't refuse, not without acting like a ******* asshole anyway. But what would she want in return? He'd learned at a young age that there was no such thing as free, but what, if anything, did he have that she could possibly want or need? All he really had, apart from his cellphone, was... nothing.
He was shaking his head slightly and muttering to himself in disbelief at the offer, but her last question made him stop and look up at her with his azure gaze. He furrowed his brow in irritation at her abrupt rudeness, then sighed, hadn't he been just as rude earlier? He looked down at the cup on the table and spoke in a low whisper, to low for anyone to hear but her. She had guessed correctly on just about every aspect of his life that mattered right now, so he found himself telling her the basics of his illness.
"Your assumption is correct. On all of the above, miss..." He couldn't remember if she'd given her name or not, but it didn't matter, not really, "I'm not sick, no, what I am is dying." He tapped his temple with the index finger of one hand for emphasis. "I've had an inoperable brain tumor, practically all my life and recently I've been having spells of vertigo, such as the one you just witnessed."
He leaned forward and looked up at her, ”Look, I deeply appreciate you letting me use the hotel room for a week, and the sandwich, and the coffee. But in all honesty, I have nothing to offer you in return except to be honest with you about why I'm even IN Harbor Rock. Simply put, I came to die, whether by my tumor or..." he finished the sentence by gesturing at the computer terminal that now showed only a screensaver. Had he been a betting man, he'd would've bet that this lovely lady before him was a vampire herself, but he wasn't about to tell her.

"It looks like you are a gambling man Marshall with nothing to loose. What if I told you that I was a vampire and have been one for a few years now. What if I told you I was working on mastering healing and not just on vampires on humans as well. I need a guinea pig Marshall ... She left it hanging a moment before she continued " I need someone like you to test my abilities on to see my limits. So what do you say Marshall ?"
She knew he hadn't said his name She quite frankly didn't care that he might have figured out that she had been snooping around in his head reading his memories. She didn't even care if he said No but lets face it he wasn't exactly in the position to deny her what she wanted and what he needed.

Marshall leaned back in the seat, a slight smile had come to his lips and he was gently shaking his head in disbelief. Mars, ole boy, this is your lucky day! He gave a small quiet snort at his own thoughts, as he retorted Is it?
Had he given her his name? The brief thought flash through his mind quickly and was gone. It didn't matter, what did matter was a total stranger had just handed him an offer he could not refuse. No, he told himself, today is her lucky day. Somehow he knew she knew it, but he was ok with it. Staring at the monitor, he said in a low whisper not meant to be overheard, "Dovie' andi se tovya sagain. Time to toss the dice."
Looking up at her, nodding as he spoke, "Seems I'm just the man, or... 'guinea pig', you need for your research, simply because, as you so elegantly stated, I have nothing to lose." Grinning, he added, "Win/win for us both!"

Mortll 's smile widened. Good she had her fish "Ok good let me wrap up here and I will drive you over to the hotel. You don't look like you feel like walking" Her this new healing ability had been working well on herself and her abilities to heal other vampires had proven successful so far ....If she could heal humans. ******* hell that would be the answer to a lot of problems that vampires faced .... Give a little blood we will cure your cancer. Vampires would never have to worry about another holocaust again. Mortll went into the back and told the manager she would be gone. Then she told her to take a look at the fellow and gave her his name that anytime he came in his meals would be on her. She came back out to the man that was waiting to die . " Ok Marshall are you ready to see if there is a cure for you ?"
