Re: Enable Safety?
I don’t even get a warning, though.
I just get told, post bite, that I was seen feeding on a Human.
Generally this is in a security 2 area, because once upon a time the success rate for feeding on a Human in a security 2 area wasn’t 1%.
The only place safe to feed now is a security 1 area.
This safety option might as well not freaking exist if it’s no longer appropriate for the game and doesn’t work half the time anyway.

Re: Enable Safety?
Decided to do some testing:
Sec 10: The security in this location is too high (more than 3), and you currently have safety switched on.
Sec 6: The security in this location is too high (more than 3), and you currently have safety switched on.
Sec 5: The security in this location is too high (more than 3), and you currently have safety switched on.
Sec 4: You are seen feeding on a human! The alert level of the entire city increases.
Sec 3: Successful feeding.
Looks to me like it's just plain bugged? It worked correctly every time until I got down to security 4 squares, and then for some reason, snafu'd. I mean I'm thankful that it didn't let me feed in a security 10 area, but it doesn't do what it says it should do. Probably just needs tweaked, honestly.

Re: Enable Safety?
Is it maybe something to do with the BASE security of a given square? Perhaps therein lies the misunderstanding/bug with the safety feature? I think this one is gonna need some David input on it.

Re: Enable Safety?
@Myk enabling safety doesn't stop you trying to feed in security level 2, only 3 or higher... providing there isn't a bug >.>
The problem seems to be (bugs aside) that feeding in security level 2 is highly likely to get you spotted, (as a result of the last chapter and increases in city alert) unless you are a shadow. Aaron (a killer) only feeds in security level 1, whereas The Master (a shadow) is happy to munch away in security level 2. I have my security enabled, but to be honest it's irrelevant to my characters (unless I have clumsy fingers!) as I won't do anything like feeding in a grid square of higher than 2 anyway.

Re: Enable Safety?
Yes. That does seem to be the case. It goes on 3 or higher, which is pointless lately with the city alert level as it is.
Mind you, maybe it’s just that my luck is getting me caught every time rather than it being a bug. Even Myk (who has rarely failed to feed in security 4, let alone 2) has been caught feeding recently.
Levi, who is a Shadow as well, has been caught feeding in security 2 areas as well.
I don’t often have my Vampires feed on Humans, but it does seem like 9.9 times out of 10 I will have my Vampire caught in a security 2 area. So, if it has become more difficult to feed, more risky, to feed in a security 2 area the Safety Enable switch should take that into account (if it even works at all).
If it is working on the base level security, then that’s worse in my eyes. Every 1 human will add 1 level of security to the base, so that makes the Enable Safety button even more useless.

Re: Enable Safety?
if Levi has silent hunter and got caught in sec 2 it is a bug.
if the ones getting caught all the time are allurist....is cause they are allurist with the new chapter stuff...my allurist feeds successfully one in 5 at best in sec 2.
safety only stops you from feeding in 'high' security areas....NOT from getting caught, as you can get caught in low sec areas now.

does azraeth have silent hunter? if he does, all those sec readings are off by 1 the sec 4 is actually sec 3 to him, so he was able to feed, no bug, he just got caughtAzraeth wrote:Decided to do some testing:

Re: Enable Safety?
Yeah he does. Is that how the safety works? I thought silent hunter just lowered the security level in squares by one. I didn't think it also impacted the safety.Jedediah wrote: does azraeth have silent hunter? if he does, all those sec readings are off by 1 the sec 4 is actually sec 3 to him, so he was able to feed, no bug, he just got caught

Re: Enable Safety?
it affects safety, because it changes the security. safety really has nothing to do with actually stopping you from being caught. it simply prevents you from feed in sec 4 or higher. if you have silent hunter, the actual sec in a posted sec 4, is 3, it is lowered, so a shadow can feed there, or someone that is bridged and has silent hunter. So far the only thing that looks like a bug, is that Levi got caught in a sec2, with hunter, as it would then be a sec 1 for him. Safety's purpose is for those that want the added protection of not accidentally feeding, in say a bank or something. It is NOT meant to completely safe guard the character. with the new interface, and kb controls, it is easy to try to talk to someone on grid, and move or feed instead. as it doesnt change the screen from grid screen. so if cursor doesnt hit the talk window, and first word starts with 'H' you will try to feed. Safety stops that, if sec is 4 or higher, among other misclicks etc. It is a crutch, not a bionic leg.

Re: Enable Safety?
When caught in a sec 2 area you also have a lower chance of being named during hacking I think. Ends up saying the identity could not be figured out. Higher security areas = more chance of getting on the violation list through hacking because more chance of your identity showing up in the hacking files: Evidence.
