"Ah." Her voice trailed off as she looked around , investigating more of their surroundings. It seemed relatively quiet, except for the dripping sound that came from the collective moisture which trickled down the walls and dropped down from the ceilings. Occasionally she could make out a few more unascertained sounds. Maybe a rat or two, scurrying about the caverns? Or something more sinister?
Cosimo had begun explaining to her where they were and about the jewels that you could find. As he mentioned this, her hand lowered to her pocket and she patted the two hard lumps that pushed against her thigh. She didn't like the part where he spoke of not really being welcome in the Algonquin Caverns. Her front teeth scraped over her bottom lip as she mulled over that thought, this gave a good view of her permanent fangs.
Astrid's eyes settled back on the face of her rescuer and she smiled. The corners of her eyes had wrinkled as her lips stretched, pushing in the soft dimples of her cheeks. He had asked her how she had become lost.
"Well...how do I explain? Hmmm." The newly turned vampire was a little lost on how to start. "I work for Alexandrea at the Fine Arts Studio and Gallery, located in the 8th Dimensional Mall. I sorta....kinda...hmmm." She paused and looked at Cosimo to see how he was reacting to her explanation thus far. "I well, I just kinda ended up here." She lifted up her hands and looked around them, as she finished off the sentence.
Are you spelunking kidding me? (Cosimo)

The sight of the girl’s canines made Cosimo smile; he, too, had canines that didn’t go away. When he’d been turned he thought it was normal. Every vampire film he’d ever watched – the good old ones, anyway – the vampires got around with teeth that remained pointy and obvious. It made sense to the Italian that they wouldn’t go away. Except, he’d noticed in those of his family that theirs went away. That he never did see them on any other vampire except those that had tortured him – probably because they were hungry, due to the copious amount of blood they had drawn from him at the time – and on Elizabeth when she had turned him. His own smile revealed to her that they were alike, at least in that way. Or, so he hoped, rather than the fact she might have been lost down here so long that her thirst was overwhelming to the point that it showed.
As they talked, he began to walk back in the direction of the exit, glancing every now and again at the chalk markings that he had made on the walls.
”You just… ended up here?” he asked, clearly confused. It took him a while to think about it, his brow furrowed as he tried to think of all the ways a person could just appear somewhere they did not intend to be – and then of all the ways a vampire, specifically. Could do the same. Soon enough his brows arched as he realised.
”Aaah! Like the… the door, that is on the rooftop,” he said, voicing his thoughts out loud. There was a portal at Ivory towers, near where his tome dropped him. He nodded, now completely understanding.
”Was it… like a portal? Like a … shimmering doorway? I know them. There is one that I use all of the time… it goes to a train station,” he said, laughing. Strange, how they could all just land at a train station without anyone noticing. But the world was ignorant like that.
