I listen to how he pronounces his name and then say it as he did. But I decide I like the idea of calling him 'T' and since he gave me permission to do so,'T' he will be from here on out. He mentions a name and all I do is shake my head. "I don't know many people. Mostly people in our faction, a couple Andras, the Altaires and a few others by mere happenstance, T." I had heard of the fade portals, but have never used them personally. I prefer using my tome to get me where I need to go. "I'm not the most social butterfly, but I find myself in situations where I have to be." I don't like talking. More than what needs to be said and now 'T' knows this.
"Will she be attempting to join the faction?" I don't beat around the bush when it comes to my faction and those who want to be part of it. "Does she have a stance on the Masquerade?" That was probably a more appropriate question to the one I asked seconds before. Oh well. At least I'm still talking.
"I own a shop there. I bought it from my sister, Juliet." I don't hesitate to refer to Juliet as my sister, because she is in my mind. I would do anything for Juliet and I'm pretty sure she would do anything for me too. "It's still being worked on, but will have the things we need." I moved around half my possessions there after my encounter with Velveteen a few weeks ago. It just seemed to make sense with being secretive and all.

He has decided he like Ric. He's straightforward. That's a good thing. Trahir likes to mince words and hide meanings, holds to many a double standard but not with those who have his life in their hands and vice versa. As far as the Masquerade goes well, that's a no-brainer to him. He won't associate with anyone that doesn't have a strong stance on it and his association with those who don't hold it sacred well, that relationship is defined with blade and bullet. He tell Roderic as much with a simple statement of, "She is in line with Tytonidae's thinking as far as the Masquerade goes. As for whether or not she will attempt to join I leave that completely up to her though I think she could benefit from being on the Bridge just for the questions asked and the lessons learned there."
"I wouldn't say I'm particularly social though I don't mind a good soiree or fundraiser in order to make connections. I tend to have very few friends and many acquaintances. Corentine is more than both. She is my grand-childe and very dear to me. I'm quite sure we are soul-mates though I haven't told her I believe that yet."
He hasn't told her that for a multitude of reasons, one of the major ones being control. For the moment he finds her doing as he instructs the most beneficial approach to avoiding harm befalling her through any number of means. He is all to aware though that inertia is the largest cause of distance being created between two objects eventually one would have to budge. He likens his relationship to Cori as being more like gravity though, they are caught in each others orbit, circling each other as two predators jockeying for position. The first one that bares their throat will open the dynamic of the relationship to change and Trahir doesn't believe that course of action wise at this point. "Not yet."

I'm actually surprised 'T' tells me as much as he has. Especially about his private life. I don't talk about mine a lot, and when I do, it's to a very few circle of friends. No, it's usually just to Skylar and Velveteen these nights. I like a lot of people in the faction, but we've all got our own problems, don't we? So, I typically say very little, to nothing about my personal life.
Unless, this is one of those times where people tell you things and want you to share something in return. I look at him to see if he has an expectant look on his features, but he just seems to be talking. But I've read somewhere that if people tell you something, they generally want to know something back. Great. "I'm a Leo." I say. Then I shake my head. No, that's now what I wanted to say. "I have a wife. We got married about a month or so back." I don't comment on the idea of soul mates, since I don't believe we have souls. Sister Beverly couldn't actually confirm it for me either, and I'm sure she of all people would have known.
"It has its advantages. Being married. If that's what you two might do in the end." I am still getting used to sharing my space and all my facets of my life with someone I accidentally married. I care a lot about Skylar, don't get me wrong, I just didn't ever think we would be here. "She sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders. Your girl." There. I think that went well.
I lift open the manhole cover and jump down first. I don't know if 'T' has experienced any of the assholes that live down here, but I didn't want him to experience it first hand with me. Or at least, get shot first and then find out about them later. "There are some guys that roam down here. They think it's their space or something." I look up at the hole I ust jumped down through and step back, waiting for him to follow after me.

Dropping down into the hole he catches himself on the lip of the manhole with one hand, pulls himself up enough to grab the cover and drag it over the hole, then lets go allowing the cover to drop into place as he descends into the darkness. Landing lightly he glances around. "You mean the hunters. I've taken a couple souvenirs from them home in a doggy-bag for the boys."
Of course he refers to the boys that initiated this meeting, Gustave and Lolong, his scaly friends that some people seemed none too keen on him possessing. There's an awkward silence for a moment. Trahir doesn't know if he's meant to say something back so he simply shrugs his shoulders. "Capricorn here." With that he motions into the darkness as if to say lead the way while at the same time flicking the leather strap from the sheathe of his dagger just in case.

I nod. So he does know. It means he gets out a bit. That's always a good thing. 'T' is making himself familiar with the city and its occupants. "Yeah. Those guys." I say before looking at the guy. I'm actually not sure what a Capricorn or Leo or any of that stuff is. I only know it because of my mom. She was a big believer in leaving fate to signs and all that ****. Me? I make my own damn way in life.
"Cool." I say, sort of dismissing the small talk. I don't like small talk, but I didn't know what to say. I'm trying though. "So what other nasties do you know about?" I say as I start to lead us in the direction of the sewer entrance not too far from the mall. It's not small talk, it's assessing his knowledge base and sharing with him what he might not know. Even if his place is temporary in Tytonidae, he is still in the faction, which makes him my faction mate. He should know these things.
When we get below the circular metal piece, I stop and look at 'T.' "I'll go first." Between the two of us, someone would probably believe I live in the sewers. I barely take time to look presentable most nights. Mostly, because I don't give a **** about pleasing the general populace and because I don't see the point. I'm always hunting something and killing something else. I climb the ladder that will take us to the city streets in the Wickbridge district, shove the manhole cover to the right and pop my head up. There's people around, but most of them are a couple blocks down at the station or a couple blocks down the other way, near the mall. "It's pretty clear." I say before pulling my body up the rest of the way up.

He watches Roderic climb up the ladder and once he is clear from the opening, Trahir runs forward, left foot catching a rung, right foot catching another and he leaps upward, grasping the lip of the hole. He inverts his body and does a reverse pull-up, drawing himself up and out feet first, ending up in a crouch atop the lid itself. He glances around to make sure no one is looking and then rises to his feet and steps off the lid, pushing it back into place with a foot as he dusts the little bits and pieces of gravel from his hands.
"Well, there are the zombies in the QZ, the Mooncalf things there and in the catacombs. The other zombies in the catacombs. The shadowy things, fadebeasts that we make, the larger shadowy things that look the same but are bigger and stronger. There's the wildlife, the hunters and paladins in the sewers, the Lionelli family in the castle up north and those weird things in the caverns. And of course us. And some really feral versions of us."
Very descriptive Trahir, he thinks to himself. Stuff, things, you may as well have made up names for them. "Also whatever the hell that was that tried to kill me out in the woods when I attempted to leave town on my second night as a vampire."
With that he stuffs his hands in his pockets and waits for his travelling companion to lead on.

I listen to 'T,' and nod my head. It seemed he knew enough. Either from first hand experience or from someone telling him. Did it matter how he got his info? Not really. Then he comments about something I know all too well. "The fae." I reply, even though he didn't ask me what they were. "They got me and another Altaire a few months ago. Cleared a leg and arm right off. And ripped out her heart." I say with a frown.
I'm lucky. I don't have any issues with them anymore. mostly because I tend to go out to hunt in the shadows until I strike the creature I'm hunting. I learned my lesson and stopped divulging in my 'siblings,' quest to experience everything out there. Some things, I'm fine with knowing and not experiencing. It's difficult to walk around town with a missing appendage.
I don't say anything more about them. I just know their quick and will try and kill you. Something he already knows. "This way." I say with a nudge of my head in the direction of the mall before going that way. It's a typical mall night, crowds in some spaces, then nothing going on in others. I don't look at anyone, I just keep my focus on my destination. I don't want to lose my ****. I don't want 'T' to see what happens when I lose my ****. I've come to recognize that my shadows have a mind of their own when my space is being invaded by strangers. Even if they aren't doing anything to me. Not something I want 'T' to experience first hand.
I take us to the second floor and to a small shop that isn't named yet. It used to be called something else, and 'T' could probably see a few outlines of letters, but what it said is anyone's guess. "In here." I pull out a set of keys, unlock the door and head in. The second I get in, I flick on the light switch and the overhead lights come to life. Inside are a bunch of projects, some finished and some unfinished. There are pieces made from deer, bear, wolves, elk, birds, fish and other bones that remain unidentified for the time being. "This is my shop. My hobby." I tell him and let him take it all in.

Stepping into the place Trahir first notes the scent of death. His eyes adjust to the overhead lights slowly, as first he squints but then it all makes sense. He looks over to Roderic and nods. "I make business cards with the skins of the gang-bangers. Waste not want not."
He steps in further and looks around more closely. "I do mine in one of my havens. Not one of the apartments," he clarifies quickly but with an even tone. "Haven't done anything with any animal other than long pig though. This is very impressive Roderic. Very impressive."
He considered that his new found hobby might have been disturbing or disgusting to even other vampires but here he finds the fellowship of another who sees the carcasses of the dead to be just another resource, one where a sense of beauty await beneath skin and fat an muscle tissue. "I was thinking this year of throwing a Hallowe'en cotume party. I have my Leatherface costume already made."
He thinks for a moment before asking. "Why do you think I ended up as a Killer instead of a Necromancer?" The question has plagued his mind several times over the last month or so since his time on the Bridge has taught him more and more.

T's reaction isn't all that surprising to me. Death seemed to be something he dabbled in, even embraced, given what he talked about on the bridge. Had it been someone else, someone a little more reserved about death and killing, we wouldn't be here.
I'm not looking for his approval or his opinion on the place. Still, he gives it and I nod. I'm sure by now most people in Tytonidae know that I clean up whatever mess I get in to and have a feeling what I get up to sometimes. At least Velveteen does now, given our last encounter.
He talks about Halloween and a leather face costume. I'm inclined to ask if it will be a vampire only party, but I don't. I'm hopeful he isn't an idiot. It's fine and dandy that we can talk about this stuff here, where there are no other prying ears and among 'kindred spirits,' that have a similar interest, but it's another thing to be flaunting that interest and pastime around humans. He'll learn, in time.
"Cool." I say, even though I don't really do the holiday thing. Any of them. But to each their own. Then he asks me a weighted question and I shrug. I don't have the answer to that. Or anything vampire oriented. I know what I know based off experience and the few questions I've asked my lineage or people in Tytonidae. "Why did I end up a shadow instead of a killer?" I ask in return before moving to sit on the top of a crafting bench. "I imagine, in my instance, it's because I was careful. Secretive and preferred to blend in, then stand out. I never left traces of me being anywhere." Some consider it an OCD, I consider it being smart. "Necromancers control death on two facets. They bring it, or they give it." It's all I know about Necromancers, really. "They have a deep understanding of how the body works and what it can handle. What did you do in your past life? As a human? Other than this?" I extend an arm out to my projects, indicating what 'this,' is.

The memories are getting fuzzy as he has been selectively and systematically eliminating bits and pieces, mostly things he missed. That type of thing can drive a man mad if dwelt on. Still, he remembers plenty yet, enough to know what his former profession had been. I was a medical assistant. Did some time as a EMT and and R.N. I was considering going back to school to finish my degree but I never had the chance. Family came first. Wanted to be with them." He doesn't wander to look at everything though he wants to. He stays close to Roderic since this is his place. Trahir figures most vampires wouldn't want another wandering around mauling their work.
"I was also big into sports. martial arts and some extreme sports primarily. I liked boxing as well. I suppose it might have been that I was more geared toward physicality that helped decide my path. Maybe I needed to numb some emotions too. I don't really know."
He does know that that bad feeling is creeping over him. The one that makes him want to hit and cut and wash his hands in blood. He forces it down, there are not humans here and there'll be plenty of time for that later. He is determined to socialize.
"Used to go to all the hospital and university fundraisers, talked rich folk out of their money in order to acquire new equipment for the hospital and such. I guess their attitude wore off on me. I feel more comfortable in those types of settings. You never have to really get to know the people. Just observe the social decorum and say the things they want to hear using large words they don't understand, snub the people they seem to dislike, politicking and things like that. I enjoyed it. It was shallow."
Well, that's saying a lot while telling little.
