Just bumping this to see how much this list has changed since this post, David?

I'd wager it hasn't changed at all yet, because I haven't changed the available fae shards. Mastery fae shards won't be available until mastery powers are done.
I'm open to the discussion regarding fae shard drops, though. I'm torn between making exclusively sold in magic shops (or by NPCs at auction), or making them very, very, very rarely drop during certain circumstances. But if they did drop, then it poses many balance problems as far as which ones, in which circumstances, and how certain skillset characters would be able to get the ones they need.

If you did drops.... I'd like to see it so that it was rare, but not like you can only get it by beating the top baddie in raids. Or why can't you do a mix?
An occasional hacking drop?
An occasional rit drop?
An occasional baddie drop on maybe floor three or four of npc raids?
And an occasional drop for stealth raids?
Some that are only bought in stores.
And one found on grid like relics are that are rarer than those?

If there are different shards for every path (and I'm thinking that's the plan?) how about 'fitting' them to type? IE: The killer path fae shard is a rare npc kill drop, the shadow a rare B&E or stealth raid, etc.

Does a person who plays a Shadow necessarily have to be good at B&E though?
It's more a skills thing than a Path thing.
I'd rather you just buy them. Give us a reason to use our cash.

Nope, they don't... my shadow Wolffyn doesn't do B&E and my thief is an Allurist but I think the Paths were at least supposed to be geared towards different skill sets, like killers for fighting.
And not everyone has a ton of cash laying around, when I get extra on Alex she always gives it away. (beats the blonde with a stick)

By the time it comes to getting Mastery Powers, I'd imagine a character would be 1 year+. That's plenty of time to save money.
Though, I suppose it might be cheaper to restatt twice by your method.
For instance, my Shadow is more of a Fighter/Businessman. He's not geared toward B&E at all. I would have to restatt him to be good enough to do B&E just to get the Faeshard and then restatt again to get him back on track with what he was after.
Seems like a giant pain in the arse, to be honest.
Better you use the skills you do have and earn money that way, spend it on the Faeshard and off you go.
Are skill sets even dependent on Path at all? I thought the only thing that was relative to your Path was basically your powers. <.<

I dig, Wolffyn is not a thief either I said that. So she would need to buy a shard too from someone else.
Cus let's face it, just like everything else? They'll be some that never find the drops on grid and some that are beloved of the rng gods who'll get more than one and sell the extras.
BUT the diff is whether you buy it from another pc or an npc, right? I'd rather pass cash to another pc than an npc myself.
