The Other nodded as the gunsmith spoke, but he was only partly paying attention to the words coming out of Pi d'Artois' mouth. His eyes followed the movement of her lips, his ears recognized the words, and he understood their meaning, but in his mind he was already imagining Kith in his hands, where he would first try out the heavier handgun, where he would keep him when he would be taking one of the other ladies out.
This was no disrespect, though, as he had always been able to multitask to some degree. He had often considered that it was something that came from actually having two minds, two personalities, more-or-less active in his head. It was even easier these nights, as Xian was deep in, having trapped himself there out of an overwhelming guilt.
He was multitasking again as the gunsmith leaned on the desk and lifted herself slightly to sit beside the gun case. As she moved, he watched with his usual careful eyes, and a part of his mind marveled again at her elegant grace, while another wondered at the reason for the movement itself. And in another, small portion, Xian curled further inward, continuing to ignore the world around him.
Xian was generally socially awkward, and while the Other was less so, being the more open and adventurous of the pair, he still found he wasn't completely aware of the complexities of unspoken language. Facial expressions weren't difficult, but he found he would sometimes miss the meanings of body language, along with some unspoken subtexts. Strangely, if was a threatening gesture or move, he could spot even the slightest sign, yet sometimes even casual suggestions passed over his head.
Because of this, he didn't always trust his read on the subtleties of social interactions, and he was unsure if this action on the part of the gunsmith was some social cue he was missing completely. The part of his mind that dealt with threats didn't find this aggressive, but he felt uncomfortable for some reason he couldn't really explain.
For a moment, he wondered if he should try to use the gift of Xian's Path to see what the woman was thinking; this had served them both well in other similar situations, though he himself didn't often make use of their telepathic gifts except when necessary.
He shrugged inwardly. He didn't like overthinking things, preferring to act rather than consider action. As with other social situations where he was unsure, he pressed on, but with care. He chose to respond positively, which wasn't difficult because it was a simple truth.
"I believe that it won't be," he said simply, as he reached over to put his hand on the gun case.
