Re: Overdue Meetings [Licones]

Nikolae leaned casually against the wall of the cavern, reptile eyes watching Licones every move as she moved fluidly in the battle. The first time he’d stumbled on the creatures he had been sure he was having a nightmare – creepy crawlies were definitely not high on his list of favorites, not that he would ever admit the dislike to anyone. He was impressed at her skill, especially given she had only just admitted she rarely hunted anything but the easily dispatched zombies and spent most of her time pilfering items from buildings in the city. What she lacked in finesse, at any rate, she more than made up for in enthusiasm. Once the creature was felled, the Dragon clapped three times and allowed a warm smile to curve his lips.
“Well done. Like a Fury of mythology.” He chuckled with a slight nod as he pushed off from the wall he’d leant against to stand in front of her. “Luckily, these nights, it’s only the creatures we choose to hunt that we have to do battle with. For the most part it seems like the battles between our kind have finally come to an end, more or less.” He added with a small frown. He hoped what he said would remain a true thing for the foreseeable future. He’d never gotten much pleasure in slaughtering his fellow vampire, though the rogues that haunted his steps really didn’t qualify for the term anymore. “These Jurogumos are just one of the things that haunt this area. When you’ve perfected the ways of killing them, let me know. There are even more difficult creatures that need to be put down in another place. That’s where I hunt these nights.” He stepped around her as he spoke, nudging the little flashlight that had been left behind. It was entirely possible – and maybe a little tragic – that a human had found their way into this place and been killed for their troubles. He grimaced. He’d always suspected the creatures ate their kills.
He paused at the entrance they’d come through when they’d first entered this particular area of the caverns. “You’re already a Dragon, so far as I’m concerned. We don’t have much – certainly nothing like the owls puff up their feathers in display of – but what we have is yours to share. Azraeth should have given you access to our Crownet forums by now… one of us will make sure you have the keys to the lower levels of the Dragomir Temple.” He paused, serpentine eyes taking in every detail of her face. “We’re a family, but we’re more like those mafia families from the old movies. We care for one another, would kill for one another, but the whole is most important of all. We stand for something – which is more than I can say for most in this town.” Dipping his head with a playful smile, he led the way out of the cavern again. “You might wake up with eyes like ours, some night.” He called back the addition, giving a shrug of indifference. “It happens, sometimes. I don’t know why. I don’t know why any of the Dragons have them, to be honest. Begun thinking it’s just part of our nature expressing itself any way it can.”
The Dragon hesitated as he heard a scuffle, checking to be sure it was far enough away that their passing wouldn’t disturb it or get the attention of either attacker. Certain it was so, he kept walking until they’d exited the caverns altogether. Tipping his head back, he drew in a breath of fresh air and peered up at the moon hanging overhead. “Do you know how to get to the Temple?” He asked once she’d joined him.
