Remington was many things. Harsh. Violent. But he was also unerringly fair. When he gave his word about something, he kept it. He had promised that he would hear the woman out, or at least given that impression, and he didn't see the need to represent the spirit of one thing when another was intended. So he listened carefully as Adelita seemingly struggled with herself. At one point he nearly wanted to tell her to get to the point, but it was almost at that moment she began to elaborate further. Her words were offered up like tithe, and he was a pale idol unchanging as stone in his expression, with equal penchant for quiet and cold. His jaw looked tense - not that it was, but it was naturally square and slightly heavy so when his teeth were pressed together; it gave him a naturally displeased expression. Even if he wasn't.
Well that was quite the predicament.
It seemed that there was more, as Remi had suspected, to Adelita than had originally met the eye. His instinct, cynical as it was, was that she wanted the men to do her dirty work. A shift in the balance of power and the dynamic structure of the mafioso empire meant that it would become more difficult for her to assume power or hand over power to her oldest son when her father died. Even if the woman was motivated by a wish to restore things to the way she thought they were meant to be, it didn't change that - at the end of the day - she was going to be benefitting big time from having serious competition taken out of the picture. In a time of flux, she could easily rise to the challenge of a crippled network. The confusion was a perfect breeding ground for Adelita to lay out her own power base and build a foundation.
Remi felt very little need to save the damsel, or set the situation right. However. Once he killed her father, his business with the cartel was done. Having someone on his side south of the border, who could stay back and plant seeds of misdirection was more than he ever could have hoped for. A clean break. An assurance that he could finally leave a very dark chapter of his life behind. Besides. From what little he had observed of her, Lita was more reliable than her father by far.
The sob story about the mom was a nice touch though. Wrong emotional string to pull in Remi's case, but he lauded her, her attempt.
His gun was pulled away from a face, pushed back into its holster. "Okay, consider me and Godric your muscle. We can come in unseen and do enough heavy demolition to completely wipe out your father and every single one of his cronies that he has helped get into positions of power over the years. You may be friends with some of them. This is the choice you have made. Understand the consequences of your acquisition of power." He said in that low even tone.
His attention then swapped to Godric. "What we need is a way to get everyone at the same place at the same time. Maybe a party of some kind. Do you have some sort of birthday coming up, Lita?" He asked even as he peered into his childer's eyes. A private, silent conversation went on there. No words spoken. No mental thoughts shared. Do you intend to stay with her when this is all over? It was just beneath the surface. If so, Remi wasn't going to stop Godric. The man was in charge of his own life, and if he wanted to have a little fun for a few decades before returning to Harper Rock, that was his call. The shadow trusted that the hitman could take care of himself if his heart wanted him to remain in Mexico.
