Jaxon tilted his head at the man who responded to his inquiry and was almost immediately disappointed. Fact was, if he hadn’t run into Whit while he was hunting not too long ago, Jaxon would think he was stark raving mad. Nobody else ever seemed to mention zombies, which was more than a little peculiar. Either a huge case of ignorance or the locals in this town had something to hide. He almost hoped it was the former – the latter might get him killed if someone less friendly found him testing his new strengths against the undead. He dipped his head at the response. “Can’t say I’ve ever had an experience like that,” He admitted, turning his gaze back to the female sprawled on the floor.
He watched her stand and then flowed to his own feet a moment later. A hand lifted to scratch the back of his own head with an uncertain expression. There were topics on the local city website discussing things like this and yet here he’d found another woman who was either oblivious or refusing to look beyond the proverbial veil. Maybe only he could see these things though because he was a Sorcerer, he wryly conceded. In which case all the more reason to keep it to himself. Even if it made him feel like he’d explode someday. “I’m not crazy.” He replied with a mutter and eyed the girl warily as she stepped closer to him. The amazon had left with her thief, another impressive show of strength, and Jax made no attempt to follow. His coffee was probably getting cold now.
Already another person was entering the little shop, and he suspected things would be going right back to normal. An overstatement for the creepy little town where his magical abilities had exponentially increased almost from the moment he’d stepped foot here. He squinted at the male, just to be sure it wasn’t a zombie – though he’d never seen one of them come anywhere near habitations let alone people of their own free will. Satisfied, Jax inched his way back to his table to swipe up the cup and guzzle down the cooling liquid. Caffeine was always the solution to sticky situations.
