See my issue?
Well obviously, I wasn't going to say 15, I was going to say the max stat to get my point across better. It also saves energy at lower levels of the skill. Let's face it, most skills aren't too great until you max them.

but when someone has a stamina of, say 20....energy is in abundance, right? >.>

For tracking to be in any way useful to me (as a player), I'd have to dump at least 15 levels into it. Even after doing so, I would still be using the same amount of energy (or more) hunting down NPCs by tracking them as I do wasting energy by not using my wraith. The exp gain overall is minimal, and so the benefit gained by having high levels of tracking is... incredibly marginal. Not to mention, tracking is also another click + selecting from a dropdown menu, which is still more of a waste of my time than running her through the caverns the way I do and losing out on about 2.6 energy.
I think the uselessness of the skill is evident in the breadth of its actual use. I don't know anyone with a character with over 10 tracking. I wouldn't put points in tracking.
imo, there should be a seeker mastery power that does EVERYTHING that tracking 20 does, and have tracking removed as a skill. Because it sucks.

I actually had tracking on Doc about October a year ago. I think it was tracking 13. I saw no benefit at all. It was useless. Doc is a killer. He kills things, thats why I wanted it. It was a wash. I had a spread sheet because I too a nerd like that. I ended up restating Doc to mechanics and trap building.

Ric had 7 in it because he's also a killer and a hunter. it made sense rp wise, but found no use for it grid wise. Not after getting a wraith.

I don't recall people saying to me that they wish they levelled slower, because they have way too much energy.

The point is, if I have a stam of 20, walking around vs using the tracking skill and wasting ooc time to do all the things Nix said, isn't worth it to me. So an extra two steps at .1 a piece isn't nothing when I have energy coming out my butt.

There are tons of things that people don't do which they really should if they want to level up faster or beat other players or get ahead in various other ways. I really don't think what the majority of players have caught onto yet is a good indication of usefulness. Popularity, yes, but not usefulness.
Having said that, the skill is only really useful to fighters (pvp / pve), so I might consider having it boost the quality of loot that people find, or something similar.

Yeah I understood your point, but some people like to level up faster than others, even if that means more real time spent.

I'm not ripping apart your game, so I hope you're not taking this personally. I really do want tracking to be worthwhile to all characters. Not just grinders.
