The man was vicious, he was much like a lion – proud yet dangerous. The way Remington loomed over Godric was enough to make the man stare at the other with a fear glint in his eye, but it was gone in seconds. There was no way he would allow the man in front of him make him feel like crap, he had come so far already. He ground his teeth together in a valiant effort to keep calm, to stop himself from lashing out and punching the other guy square in the jaw. He had felt this man’s strength, witnessed it. He’d be dead surely if he threatened the man more than he already has.
- ”**** you. Just **** you, my brother was murdered, apparently by you. I was a loyal hitman, I didn’t question him, I was told to track him down and kill him, him being you. I was so…”
Anger flared in the man, as he got himself up. His legs shook a little before he regained his composure. He was not weak, and he would not justify his actions to the man, why should he? Godric had this feeling in the pit of his stomach that Remington was going to kill him anyhow, so why explain himself to the wretched vampire.
- ”Whoever did kill my brother, should die. Wether it was you, or them. If it’s them. God help them I’d bring them down, somehow.”
The man was speaking more or less to himself now. He didn’t understand what the man mentioned about saving his ***, making him useful. Godric shook his head. He didn’t know if he could be useful, though he was associated with death by trade, he could handle himself pretty well. There was a pause.
- ”You’re going to let me go, if I choose to help you. With whatever scheme you have planned?”
Godric watched him with those moss orbs of his, an inquisitive look to his eyes.

He could tell that the other man’s resolve was beginning to crumble, that loyalty he felt he had towards the Cartel. But that was the problem with crime organizations; they expected you to give up all of your devotion to them and then had no problem with scrapping you or yours when it benefitted them. They were like businesses in that. It made life very dangerous for those that thought they were important to the cause, because the truth of the matter was that everyone except for the man at the very top was expendable.
“I will do you one better. You know what I am, and I cannot have a living human walking around with knowledge of my kind. You were a loyal hitman, and if you give me that loyalty, I will return it tenfold. I do not ask you to be my childe, but my brother. I will give you back what you have lost, and we will bring justice to those who have been taken from us.” He replied, carefully. His tone was even, but it was clear that he had not made that particular choice lightly. The two of them were playing a dangerous game, Remington especially and the stakes were high, because he knew almost nothing about Godric.
Would he remain loyal?
Would he keep vampiric secrecy?
Or would he need to be put down like a dog?
The vampire looked into the other man’s moss eyes for a moment, his own revealing just how sure he was of the situation. “You will need to report to your superiors that the kill is taking more time than you initially thought. So long as they think you are out on a job, they will not question you.” And then he reached for Godric so that he could grab one shoulder, his strong, calloused fingers tangling in hair. He jerked a head to one side and sank his fangs into a neck. There was the hot spurt of blood that filled his mouth and slid down his throat. He could feel heat there, feel the life that flowed out of the other man and into his body.
He didn’t stop. He didn’t stop until the hitman was on the very brink of death. He was careful none the less, careful not to let even a single drop hit the floor. He made sure that there would be no evidence of a crime for anyone that showed up later.
And then he ripped open his own wrist, shoving it right against a pair of lips. It was time for Godric to have his first taste of vampirism in that black blood. It was time for him to drink and return to Remington from death.

It was true the hitman knew exactly what Remington was. He was a vampire, he even called the man out on it, curiosity rose within the man – he still wanted to know who Velveteen was to Remington. His forest hues looked at the man, listened to every word that came out of his mouth with a nod in the proper places that needed a nod. He knew he was going to die now, the way he spoke his words it was with such finality. There was something else though; it seemed like a glimmer of hope. He wanted that glimmer of hope for revenge, revenge that would soon be his – the revenge for his brother that he assumed he would have tonight with Remington’s death.
Was all Godric said to the man. He didn’t take his eyes off him, even as he came close like predator would when stalking its prey. He gripped his shoulder with his strong, yet cold hands and yanked his head to the side. Godric didn’t say anything. He didn’t make any sudden movements; he actually tensed in the man’s grip. The muscles showing through his clothes slightly. He felt it then, that sharp pain – it was more like a sting, but he could feel his very soul being slowly sucked out of his body.
Godric wanted to fight it, he wanted to break free – it was his natural reaction, his whole body wanted to run, but his mind told him to stay, told him this was for the best it would help him in the future and that thought kept him grounded enough to see this through. Squeezing his eyes closed he blocked out the pain that was growing, he fought the weakness that was washing over him – enough that he was becoming weak in the man’s hold. He wobbled, until his legs buckled and it was Remington that held him up now.
The wrist was thrust into his mouth, the man’s flesh grazed against his lips as he got his first taste of blood. His own hands curled up to the skin and pulled it closer as he began to drink, and he drank deeply. Possibly taking more than he should have until he pushed himself away. Grasping at the wall he couldn’t focus – until he fell, his knees buckled once more – was that exhaustion? Godric was down for the count.
