Elliot, on the other hand, was watching Pi very carefully. There was a smile on his face, as his hair fell haphazardly over his features. A telepathic message was sent to the mind of his love:
Keep calm, babe. It's just a silly auction.
A mindset that he himself was trying to adopt in regards to Pi's own bidding on random men.

God she wished she could talk back into his head. She wished she could tell him how this auction was ripping her guts out and making them writhe in her belly like venemous snakes. She wished she could go up there and calmly walk his *** off the stage while slapping a MINE stamp on his back, his ***, his forehead. Everywhere.
Except, she couldn't. She couldn't and she rather figured she better just do something else rather than look at the stage and stare daggers into the brains of any female who looked at him, and then tried to BUY him.
Ugh. With a sigh gave him a long look then turned her back, moving past Charlie she managed a wan sort of upward movement of lips before moving towards the bar where she could distract herself with serving up drinks to the press of people who were there, but weren't that interested in bidding on the current candidate. Pi studiously avoided looking at Elliot's newest childe, for fear she really would shoot her.
God, she really wished something with a penis would bid on HIM, and then she wouldn't have to contend with these unsavoury murderous thoughts.

I smile back at the female I'm bidding against. I know I don't need to pay to spend time with Elliot and I half suspect that she doesn't either, not from the words I'd heard her say. She was one of us and connected to Elliot in some way.
"$18,000"
This is likely my last bid and I know it. I can't afford much more this. Not tonight. If I lost now i didn't mind. Elliot knew I cared enough to actually pay for his time if i had to, and that was enough for me.

Doc wandered through crowd, spotting the Sire, he moved to stand beside her. "Hello Pi." His voice was congenial and passive, as he stared at the current meat on auction. "Now this is interesting..."

Pi blinks blindly at the man, "Bonjour Charles." she answered automatically, wondering really if the night could get any more awkward. She then threw a look at the stage, partially obscured now by the rows of people between.
"You... have very very ... bad timing." Pi sighs again and turns away from the stage. "I can't watch that."

"Story of my life.. " he smirked briefly, "As you well know.." He said as she turned away.

Such clever words, said in such a clever way. Innocuous sounding but potentially flammable depending on context; just like Doc, tweaking noses in a way he could pretend meant something else entirely.
“You have impeccable timing, in other things Charles.” She answered, her back to the stage and to the men behind her too.

If he was already here, he might as well bid on more than Pi. And he vaguely, very vaguely, remembered meeting Elliot. But if he was Pi's childe, and also Pi's husband, Caine supposed he could do worse in trying to buy meetings with people.
He raised his hand. "Twenty thousand."

Pi moves to the mic and calls the auction, announcing in a loud voice. "Last bids, In three... Twooo... ONE. SOLD!"
